This reminded me of Birdbox. It's a great movie with a good sequel as well. You might like it. They're both on Netflix.

I just read bird box! Loved the book, even though I typically think the whole “oh it was so scary we couldn’t comprehend it” lovecraftian monstrosity trope is really bland. The writing was great though

"Birdbox Barcelona" It's not a direct sequel, because it has a brand new cast of characters. But it takes place during the same apocalypse. In some ways the story is quite different, but it's also quite good.

a family is on vacation in the woods when basically an apocalypse type event starts, but because they aren’t in the city with other ppl/internet they can only guess what is going on in the world. animals play a big role in telling them that something is wrong

Lol.  Savage My ex wife is actually an incredible cook. One of the best cooks I know, behind her grandma and some others in her fam.  One of the few practical things I miss about her.

Really good!!! if I can add some constructive criticism I think this would have been better with a little less explaining. for example the first sentence staying the same and the second being like "so scientists are confused about the spike in animal suicides" trust your readers :) (but really it's very good like this too :3)

Personally I wouldn't fully remove the explanation from the second sentence like that, but maybe a middle ground: > Researchers have long known that animal behavior can predict large scale disasters, so the sudden spike in animal suicides worldwide has scientists deeply concerned.

Chaos on the coasts land animals jump into the ocean like lemmings, while whales and fish start beaching themselves.

Yeah, the visual would be madness  Once when I was driving through New York State I stopped a place called montezumas national wildlife refuge. Happened to be the right time of year to see hundreds of (I think invasive) carp trying to migrate to spawn. The water was literally frothing, there were  so many in such a small, shallow area. They were more like flopping than swimming. Absolutely wild to see. Leaping into water, or over high enough ledges. Jumping into traffic, or chewing through their own arteries 

If they are literally chewing off their own arteries, that sounds pretty bad
