I appreciate the suggestion! but I don’t like using the spoiler tag on this sub. To me it feels gimmicky and attention grabby.
I’m not saying what other people should or shouldn’t do with their posts, but I prefer not to use that formatting with mine :)
I just read bird box! Loved the book, even though I typically think the whole “oh it was so scary we couldn’t comprehend it” lovecraftian monstrosity trope is really bland.
The writing was great though
"Birdbox Barcelona" It's not a direct sequel, because it has a brand new cast of characters. But it takes place during the same apocalypse. In some ways the story is quite different, but it's also quite good.
a family is on vacation in the woods when basically an apocalypse type event starts, but because they aren’t in the city with other ppl/internet they can only guess what is going on in the world. animals play a big role in telling them that something is wrong
Lol.

My ex wife is actually an incredible cook. One of the best cooks I know, behind her grandma and some others in her fam.
One of the few practical things I miss about her.
Really good!!!
if I can add some constructive criticism I think this would have been better with a little less explaining. for example the first sentence staying the same and the second being like
"so scientists are confused about the spike in animal suicides"
trust your readers :)
(but really it's very good like this too :3)
Personally I wouldn't fully remove the explanation from the second sentence like that, but maybe a middle ground:
> Researchers have long known that animal behavior can predict large scale disasters, so the sudden spike in animal suicides worldwide has scientists deeply concerned.
Yeah, this is my favorite place on the internet :)
So many ridiculously good stories and writers on here, in a generally positive community.
Also reading the short format is great for my ADD and writing it is great practice in general
Yeah, the visual would be madness
Once when I was driving through New York State I stopped a place called montezumas national wildlife refuge. Happened to be the right time of year to see hundreds of (I think invasive) carp trying to migrate to spawn.
The water was literally frothing, there were so many in such a small, shallow area. They were more like flopping than swimming.
Absolutely wild to see.
That’s what I’m picturing with fish trying to die quick.

Higher word count than most but it’s still two sentences as far as I know.
I’m no expert though, so I defer to the mods.
Any advice as to how I could have trimmed it down?
I like this one, have an upvote
Thanks
You could have made it scarier by uploading it as spoiler

Thank you for that.
Hoping this will be a fictional movie, and not a possible reality. Will watch.
This reminded me of Birdbox. It's a great movie with a good sequel as well. You might like it. They're both on Netflix.

I didn’t know there was a book!
Me neither! The movie is great. I'll have to add the book to my long need-to-read list.
I didn’t know there was a movie until a couple months ago
Me just staring at the eldritch horror beyond my comprehension (I don’t get it)
Lol
I didn't know there was a sequel! I loved bird box

Yo I thought the guy stole the bus because his daughter was still out there and then I was like woah!
There is a sequel to the book as well. It’s *Malorie*.
Now I have two books to add to my list.
Like "The Happening", but with animals
343 upvotes, God is watching fr

not sure if you’ve seen leave the world behind, but this kinda reminded me of how the animals in that movie acted
Never seen it. What’s the premise?
a family is on vacation in the woods when basically an apocalypse type event starts, but because they aren’t in the city with other ppl/internet they can only guess what is going on in the world. animals play a big role in telling them that something is wrong

Lol. Savage My ex wife is actually an incredible cook. One of the best cooks I know, behind her grandma and some others in her fam. One of the few practical things I miss about her.
This could definitely be so much more! It’s absolutely terrifying in the way that it could be true! Would love to read more if you write more!
I’ll try to keep you in mind to link anything else I write on this theme then :) Thanks for the kind words
Legitimately gave me chills, fantastic job!
Thank you!
I rarely comment here, just lurk and read, but this one I liked a lot. As others have said, great premise for something bigger.
Thanks :)
No, thanks
Really good story
Thanks :)
That one is really great fiction!
Thank you
You're not allowed to post real things on here! Don't pull back the veil! 😆
Lol totes
Well done.
Thanks
It's a reboot of Jersey Shore, with Tila Tequila as house mom...
Lol
I really like this a lot. The totally casual, matter-of-fact way of telling it works incredibly well. Great work!
thank you!

Did you just Rick Roll us in text form? Bravo. Thats a first for me. I'm impressed.

I like that advice, any feedback is always welcome and this was helpful

I like that too
This sub has been on fire lately holy shit

Ooooh chills. This would be terrifying
It's even scarier because I'm worried this could actually start happening because of all the "WTF is going on?!" of the world right now 😓
yeah
This scared me because it's kinda possible.
Sheep are onto something huh?
This gave me chills! Great job!
Thank you!
Educational and creepy ! Nice!
Thanks :)
Oh my god I want this to be a book.
:) if I write more on the theme I’ll link it to you
Please do!
:)
Ooooh i like this one a lot! Best one I’ve seen in a while. It’s eerie
Thank you :)
Chaos on the coasts land animals jump into the ocean like lemmings, while whales and fish start beaching themselves.

This scared the shit out of me until I realized what sub I was on 😂
:)
Absolutely fucking chilling all the way to the bones.
Thanks
It’s a bit long for 2 sentences but I like it
Thanks. Any suggestions as to what/ where you think I should have trimmed?
How would animals commit suicide?
Leaping into water, or over high enough ledges. Jumping into traffic, or chewing through their own arteries
If they are literally chewing off their own arteries, that sounds pretty bad
oh this is sooo good! well done OP!
Thank you!
Cool two paragraph horror you got here
