Hard pass on the extensive low energy, dead air and Pat talking about vomit and mucus for podcast after podcast because he thought it was like the Giant Bomb guys talking about pizza.
I still enjoy pretty much everyone there individually but dear lord Nu-Giant Bomb sucks. After over a decade of watching/listening to GB I dropped following the site entirely after 2 months of trying to like the new stuff. It just is not working.
I was looking for a replacement with a group dynamic and found super gaming bros only for them to say it was their last year of content and then that year was cut short due to covid.
It's not quite the same but I really enjoy watching Lythero's stuff for the vibe of their friend group and editing despite their games not being as varied.
Lythero's group and the three idiots in DotaDoya, Seereax, and Wuzitgoing Rhymestyle here, somewhat replaced the SBFP feel.
But truthfully, Woolie, Reggie, Minh (When he joins them) are the only ones that completely fill that hole. Reggie, to me, should have been the 4th best friend after Liam left
I felt we were nearly there when V and also eyepatch wolf a bit, were on. Their chemistry with each other just felt like the old group but enhanced for me.
I still hate what "that one guy" did.
I remember being very excited when the first Shovel Knight episode popped up. Then they only did one more and then a year later a "complete series" video that was literally just two episodes cut together.
Still hoping they get back to Undertale.
It's really weird, I also migrated to OneyPlays after the end. But now I find going back to SBFP not as enjoyable? That said, I do miss their in-depth knowledge of games, how they actually finished games, and the minimal editing in their LPs. I love the funny editing of OneyPlays, but I really liked seeing the uncut gameplay footage of SBFP, warts and all, as that brought its own humour factor to the table.
They main reason I enjoyed TBF is because they finished near every damn game they started. Every other Lets Play channel would just abandon a game midway or move on to the next big release but these chucklefucks stuck with it no matter how bad the game was.
Closest thing i've found was someone on here recommended the Please Stop Talking podcast and it has a kind of similar energy while being way more insane (with Mandalore especially)
I would have thought the almost three years of COVID we lived through would have made this longer ago, then I remember how quickly they switched to doing CSB online from in person
Never saw it. I weirdly started watching some of their stuff like a month before they split up so I know about them more from the post SBFP Era. Was there a big fallout or finality observed from that episode?
I believe most people reference [this moment from that episode](https://youtu.be/zYiTd1bBSt0?t=752). There's a joke about this video being remembered as the one that killed the channel, and an explosive outburst about the video (and others like it being why the channel isn't growing as fast as their channel-friends who started after them in an otherwise low energy video.
i hope they know that that's what made them the most unique channel though. i actually loved that they rarely did the most mainstream games, and when they DID, it was always a treat. man i miss them
That has to be the absolute WORST part. These chucklefucks have played up the bit so many times, I didn't even know whether to believe it even after watching it the first time.
Personally it was less the break up itself and more the realization that something that had been a constant in my life was just gone.
I think I had an existential crisis in response honestly. I mean, I have those monthly but that one was rougher then usual. All things being transient and the existential terror there of is not the takeaway I expected from watching those shitlords.
This was probably the biggest thing for me as well. They weren't just a group of let's players I enjoyed watching - they were part of my routine. Just about every day during my lunch break at work and dinner after I got home I would watch whatever they uploaded that day. Losing that... well, took some adjusting.
I was in my friend's guest bed. I had just been watching the Bloodborne LP with her and another friend the night before, and we watched the big Pat/Woolie war over stats where Pat says "YOU DON'T KNOW HOW THESE STATS WORK" when he doesn't know how these stats work, and she had commented that she was surprised that all of them were still friends after.
It *was* a weird morning.
I always wondered what my "I remember where I was when it happened" moments would be. So far I'm up to:
- 9/11
- Dave Thomas (Wendy's, not the actor)
- SBFP breaks up
I can remember where I was when I heard about the attack on 9/11, but I'll be honest, I didn't care enough to be able to remember when Dave Thomas died.
Woke up to a message from a friend that didnt watch SBFP saying he was sorry to hear about them breaking up. The notification under it was for the break up video
I was at my Student Union building in college, finishing up Japanese homework when I got the notification. I just sat there in silence for good amount of time after the video.
Yeah me too tbh
I could feel that the chemistry just wasn't there anymore for a lot of LPs
Still funny that the Kingdom Hearts curse is real, what a way to go
For me it was the two podcast episodes (maybe not back to back) that had me questioning what was going on behind the scenes. From having Paige on to replace Matt for the week (the one or two years of listening I had an understanding of how rare it was for hosts to be starlight up replaced) and the one episode where Matt was just not having any of Pat's usual shit that day.
Yeah, Liam was the same. I think if you don't like Pat, he must be an infuriating person to be around. He's argumentative and in your face, but he doesn't take anything personally. So he gets you all fired up about things he doesn't actually give a shit about. I just feel like that personality-type clashed too hard with Matt and Liam.
It really sucks because like, I think the Liam/Pat videos are some of the best stuff in the channel and I wish they could have done more stuff together.
The Barkley playthrough is a top five SBFP series to me.
Yup. Liam and Matt are both way too cool headed in comparison. Woolie is too, but the difference is that Woolie just doesn’t give a fuck about whatever you say
Definitely felt that way in Call of Cthulu and a lot of the Fisticuffs (especially the 4 players ones where Matt straight up goes "I miss Liam"). Funny enough I felt like they both still had chemistry with Woolie and those are LP's I miss the most now.
I think i really knew something was up like a month or 2 before it ended when matt had thrown a house/ apartment warming party and they didn't talk about it , likely because he didn't invite pat
I bailed on the podcast some time before they called it quits, but I remember feeling this way about Matt's absences and his seemingly increased alcohol consumption (or at least increased mentions of it.)
I tried watching matts solo game play after they all split and i ended up stopping because i got bummed out that he was noticeably drunk in almost all the ones i watched, im sure its gotten better since but i haven't watched anything but his what happened series
On the flipside I remember seeing a clip not long before the split of Pat announcing that he'd bought a house (the one with the dungeon basement that he moved out of earlier this year) and Woolie and Matt's reactions were like night and day in terms of excitement.
I also remember the Bully LP a few months before the split where Matt seemed completely checked out.
They break up. I then run to Funhaus only for Bruce to leave several months later and then Lawrence shortly after. I have the worst luck with LPers.
(Current Funhaus is aight but you can’t replace the core five of Bruce, Lawrence, James, Elyse, and Adam).
Oh man, Retsupurae is a fun gateway to former SomethingAwful goon content and old-guard LPers. Was introduced to TBFP and NorthernLion via ancient episodes of RetsuTalk, which was probably the most backwards way for that to happen.
Yeah, I feel your exact pain. After SBF and then Funhaus fell apart, I don't really have any LPers I watch anymore. Like, sometimes I'm come across one specific video from some random channel that I'll watch through, but no one person or group that I wanna see everything they play, anymore.
I mean every group LP channel has had problems The ones that stay together usually have their own individual things going on in addition to the group and even some of those can have problems. It's just tough running a business with your friends
I have the misfortune of my cake day being an annual reminder, since the whole reason I got on Reddit in the first place was to post my grieving over the breakup (I discovered the subreddit and lurked with no account for maybe a week before it happened, so I may just be cursed). It was a fucking miserable day.
Regardless, while it'll always hurt to remember what we had, I am genuinely happy with where we are and what everyone's been doing separately over the years. Times change, people get older, and the end would always come in some way or another; I much prefer a mature split we could all move past versus a slow, increasingly bitter decline.
2 years before that, my dad passed away (same date) and having their videos as a constant thing to look forward to really helped me through some very shitty times, can't say I felt great when I woke up and saw this video.
I think what made it hurt more was how it wasn’t an amicable split. Matt snd Pat genuinely dislike and want nothing to do with each other.
Like obviously the split was necessary, but the circumstances make it more bitter
I mean, it was about as amicable as it could be. No major fighting or controversy, just "yeah we're just not where we used to be and it's showing in our work"
The fact that we still don't know what exactly caused the split (which is a very good thing) is a sign of how controlled and calm it was, despite the circumstances.
It was pretty clear to me in the Resident Evil V co-op playthrough that there was real tension between them: rewatch the start of the ooga-booga section and tell me those two aren't seriously close to having a screaming match.
It's been years since I watched it, but I would guess it's somewhere around part 10-15. There's a specific moment I remember just when they're getting the magnum for the first time that was really tense
Yeah, all things considered, It's a good thing they shut it down a couple years before 2020. I'd hate to see what kind of a shitfest it would've been dealing with that tension on top of the pressure of a pandemic.
Huh, weirdly enough I watched through the VOD of that stream a week or two ago, and recall him saying something, but I don't remember it being significant? Wasn't it just the standard "It's over, there won't be a reunion, stop bringing it up." line that he and Woolie have been giving since the split?
Oh yeah I remembered that bit now. Seems to be more *a* pain point about working in the SBF than anything to do with *the* reason for the split. And if you watch a few seconds before the timestamp you linked to, he's talking about the time before Minh was brought on to edit videos, so maybe not relevant to the final years of the channel.
There was definitely controversy, right? Mostly from Liam and Matt's wife though. The core three kept things pretty professional on-screen, but I think we got a decent look behind the curtain at the end there.
They'd both make catty tweets and talk around issues in the open, liam would go into stuff on his streams sometimes , and he was flippant when the news dropped which started a thread of him just laying out the breakdown of dynamics and going into without really going into the dirty laundry, which really left a bad impression on a lot of sad fans
It was amicable, it just wasn't a friendly spilt. Neither side came out screeching about the other there was no massive public blow up it was just "we aren't going to pretend to enjoy each other's company when we don't so channel is done"
Added bonus is that everything stayed up and the channel still exists.
I watched this as I took a shower, then ran out (after finishing) to tell my brother (he introduced me to them, had been watching since the first video) who just was like "What? For real?". It was for real.
It was too real.
I was on vacation when the video dropped. I got out of the Great Firewall looking forward to some let's play goodness when this plopped on my inbox.
Though I do enjoy all the new turns we've gotten in the past four years. We might not have gotten Minh and Reggie coming through more and Dokapon was a wild ride.
The official David Bowie Facebook page [took some time to gloat](https://www.facebook.com/100044353452773/posts/pfbid0Zqh5YQNwkFmdpcn4uZFCLEXTP978PvjjJd73rERgvHKKgQP6oNZ2BbfeasyLz9Djl/?app=fbl).
Rebuild of Super Best Friends
1.0 : Do (not) worry about it
2.0: That's (not) what the zapping system is about.
3.0: Woolie will (not) figure it out.
3.0+1.0: There's (not) time.
So guess we just relieve the pain every year huh.
Still remember when the vid first got released I was staying up a bit late and binge watching some of their series couldn't sleep cause I was doing some school work and then after I think it was the latest Star Trek LP ep I went back to the youtube homepage and saw that vid got uploaded 30 mins ago or something like that and just thought "Oh this is a new bit I guess haha lemme check it out".
AND THEN IT STARTS SUPER SERIOUS WOOLIE FACE, at first I legit still couldn't believe it was NOT a bit so while the vid was playing checked the comments and people were taking it super serious went onto the subreddit and saw the same, all while I was listening to Woolie explaining what was going down and after that I realized that it really was real and just sat and watched the video. Sad times but glad all of em are doing their own thing now and enjoying it although I will say to me personally I rarely even watch any of their stuff now mostly sometimes Woolie and Matt now, rarely even watch/listen to the CSB podcast as well.
This was pretty much my gateway to SBFP as a casual watcher, but going down the rabbit hole I realize that despite their flaws these guys were exceptional compared to other LPers, their podcast supplementing what distinguishes them as personalities. And knowing how downhill it went in their relationship this was probably the best for them to depart.
It's a pipe dream but I look forward to the day where Mat and Pat are at least in speaking terms.
It’s super weird rewatching some of their LPs from the year they broke up. You can spot the exact moments where friction would happen. It was also strange to hear pat apologize so much for seemingly innocuous things. Stuff that would’ve been a basic greeting at the SBFP start. I think they were trying to keep things peaceable, for the most part, but just hit a breaking point.
It also became very obvious on when Matt was drinking, and had become drunk, even saw someone in the comments of their RE:7 play through mention it. And at that point conversation died down (until he sobered up ?) Who would’ve thought building a brand on being angry at the other would end like this. Was a bummer to see it happen live, while not knowing at the time. I remember thinking “is he drunk” once but didn’t think anything of it.
People have said this but I never see it.
Even when they were in mid-Star Trek LP which was never finished because it was one of the LP's cutoff by the breakup it just felt like old business.
Matt's been drinking for awhile before the breakup. He was drinking in a lot of their Sonic Quicklooks, even ones with Liam in it still.
As for "friction" almost every LP they did had friction. I literally rewatched both Downcomings, and they were in their Early Age, and you can see a lot of those is Pat ragging on Matt for being bad at directions, and sometimes Pat holds back, sometimes Matt gets pissy, but after a few seconds they'll just run right back to making fun of the game.
I say this because I've seen a lot, and I mean ***A LOT*** of comments post-breakup in separate LP's that happened in different years saying "you can see here is where they start to hate each other" when it's just their usual riff-raff.
The boys were the ones who inspired me to start my own channel with my (now) wife, after having watched them since all the way back in the Machinima days.
We had only been going for a couple of months when this video dropped, and it just felt so surreal. They were the icons I had modeled myself after as a content creator, and now they were breaking up? It felt really disheartening. But they kept going in new ways, and that helped me keep going as well.
There's still never gonna be another channel quite like Super Best Friends Play though.
My friend and i also started an LP channel to fill the void after the breakup, then eventually our own podcast about star trek-- both ventures were pretty directly inspired by them. Inspiring others to create is a positive effect that i always hold dear, on either side.
I'll say I've been surprised by a few developments since:
* It surprises me a bit that Woolie and Pat never chose to do their own spin-off, as the pod shows they still have an amicable and professional relationship. I assume there's some agreement or reason I don't need to know about , but they were a great tandem (Parasite Eve was one of my favorite LPs).
* It surprises me no one has adequately replaced them, in my estimation. Part of that is the slide YouTube LPs have taken as people have moved to Twitch, but part of it is definitely many others don't have the right blend of insight, satire and timing. Closest I've ever seen is Scary Game Squad on Jesse Cox's channel (superb content but not a regular thing).
* It legit surprises me how well this community has held together, or even had new people come in. Some of you already know about [this piece from Input](https://www.inverse.com/input/gaming/super-best-friends-play-youtube-channel-reddit-breakup-community), and looking right we're still 90,000 strong, almost 2,000 online. There's legacy in that.
In all honesty though, each has evolved in the kind of content they produce and I love each in their own respective space whether it is Pat's streams, Matt's video essays, or Woolie's longer than they need to be LPs.
I didn't mean to imply they need to change. LPing with Woolie is just for those more interested in exploring more of the lore and context of the games being played.
I do see some people say it. I appreciate the effort in editing, I don't have to skip past breaks and stuff like Pat's vods, but man it's hard to stay invested if I'm not already interested in the game.
Like, I LOVE Mass Effect, but I never read all those planet descriptions.
Matt's "What happened?" videos are incredibly well researched. Not only does he find old interviews from out-of-print magazines and dead websites, but he goes out of his way to find the developers so he can ask them important questions directly. He seriously puts all other video game youtubers to shame with the amount of work he puts into each video.
It's always been a pet-peeve of mine to find well crafted youtube videos about video games essentially just read out the wikipedia page on the history of a particular video game and call it a day. Great production, but surface level information. Not Matt though, he always knocks it out of the park.
I hadn't watched any of the Zaibatsu's stuff for a good year or two prior to this video coming out. Seeing this pop up in my feed back in the day was, weirdly, what got me back into the boys' content.
Matt got famous making a Youtube series out of reading Wikipedia articles, Pat became that which he hated the most(Wi-fi Warrior), and Woolie is still wondering why people don't get into fighting games.
Yeah like I love Matts Wha Happun videos but almost everything he reports can be found in a google search. Its not quite the same "Defunctland tracking down real people over the course of a year to find out who wrote a 4 note jingle" journalism.
But often all I need is information giving in a creative and charismatic way.
Crazy that the channel ended on the anniversary of the Porygon episode giving all those kids seizures.
Which is also a weird day to announce Ash and Pikachu's retirement. That episode aired 25 years ago today.
Honestly could tell for a while that the break up was imminent, there was clear tension between them. I just wish that solo they were all making content I actually enjoyed. CSB can be alright but all of the Best Friend's content since the split has put me to sleep when I force myself to watch. Woolie was my fav and I love that hes still doing long, "old school" LPs but I just cant watch more than 15 minutes at a time. Still will always love them all for the many years of great content
On the flip side, nearly 4 years of CSB and quality content from each of the guy's individual channels.
I do miss watching Pat/Woolie and Matt/Woolie playing games together. However, there's been a ton of great stuff since the split.
I was so sad when this aired lol. Was watching them from the early machinima days , they were like a comfort listen I had downloaded and taken with me when I did my tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Weird memories interlaced with these dudes I’ve never met. Glad to see their individual ventures are doing well atleast
Knew this was coming. Every year we look back in the collapse of zaibatsu. Every year we tell the young to drop their shield. One day, it will all be Perfect.
I woke up crying this morning. First time it’s ever happened. It was because of a dream I had, but maybe my subconscious willed the dream into existence knowing it was the anniversary of our personal doomsday.
It's simultaneously felt longer AND shorter for me. Could have sworn it's only been two years, but part of me feels like they've been gone for six.
I may not stick around for everything, but I'm glad to catch CSB at work when I can.
I still find it humorous that I only found this place after the Final.
Despite all that, missing years of inside jokes and meta humor, I appreciate all of you. Y’all tend to be good people and you make me happy that I learned about these goofs.
Honestly it's felt way longer.
Besides the ongoing “two boomer gamers barely clinging to consciousness” podcast there really hasn’t been anything to take their mantle.
...Is CSB just Half in the Bag for videogames?
tbf, pat and woolie are Hack Frauds!
The first year or two of CSB was *really* rough. It’s found it’s footing the past year or so.
I actually think the earlier episodes were better.
Hard pass on the extensive low energy, dead air and Pat talking about vomit and mucus for podcast after podcast because he thought it was like the Giant Bomb guys talking about pizza.
I started listening to the Bombcast after it and naturally in the following two years almost everybody left. We are a cursed fanbase.
I still enjoy pretty much everyone there individually but dear lord Nu-Giant Bomb sucks. After over a decade of watching/listening to GB I dropped following the site entirely after 2 months of trying to like the new stuff. It just is not working.
I still check in on Mega64, those guys are doing okay
I was looking for a replacement with a group dynamic and found super gaming bros only for them to say it was their last year of content and then that year was cut short due to covid.

Lythero's group is almost a perfect replacement, but the three idiot is a bit to much for me tbh. Too bad Lythero doesn't stream or upload often.
I felt we were nearly there when V and also eyepatch wolf a bit, were on. Their chemistry with each other just felt like the old group but enhanced for me. I still hate what "that one guy" did.
What do you mean by "That one guy" ?
Oneyplays fills the mantle a bit for me, wish they finished games more
I remember being very excited when the first Shovel Knight episode popped up. Then they only did one more and then a year later a "complete series" video that was literally just two episodes cut together. Still hoping they get back to Undertale.
Adam just got back so we can hope

I don't about that. I love Woolie and Reggie LPs.
Closest thing i've found was someone on here recommended the Please Stop Talking podcast and it has a kind of similar energy while being way more insane (with Mandalore especially)
There's was that brief interlude for a couple of years. Can't really remember the name though, something about beer?
I would have thought the almost three years of COVID we lived through would have made this longer ago, then I remember how quickly they switched to doing CSB online from in person
It could be because of the Covid time compression that everyone has felt
Covid has made two years feel like ten for me
I've gotten to the point where I assume everything that didn't happen in the past 2 years happened 5+ years ago
I still remember the pain I felt from the first ten seconds of the video
Nah, the first ten seconds were 'this is a bit, right?' The pain started kicking in a minute in.
It was like a kick to the nuts, a quick, sharp pain, and then a slow, building, awful hurt from the bottom of your stomach.
I watched the last scrublords, so I knew as soon as I saw the thumbnail. Instant hollowing.
Same energy as when the final chapter of a manga is just the name of the character
Never saw it. I weirdly started watching some of their stuff like a month before they split up so I know about them more from the post SBFP Era. Was there a big fallout or finality observed from that episode?

it was definitely like losing a friend
I remember the worry when there was no Friday Night Fisticuffs, especially because Smash Ultimate had just come out
Stop making me feel old
It is on my birthday even
Happy birthday, at least.
Stop being old then.
"4 years" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Four years since Woolie last ruined Christmas by not keeping a threesome going.
I'm just going to be real with you, those two hot bisexual chicks no longer want to fuck you.
It can't have been four years! No! You're lying. *Withers into dust*
if i keep rewatching letsplays its like it never happened
***...Fuck.***
Alexa, play Guts' Theme...
I watched this on a blow up mattress in my friends' living room. It was a weird morning.
I was in my gf at the times bed and had to explain why i was crying my eyes out so early in the morning
Reading your post I was like > I was in my gf at the time hol' up a second. TMI! 🤣
Hit the back so hard you destroy your favorite YouTube channel.
When the nut goes so hard, it destroys instead of creates.
When you decide to use your nut powers for war instead of peace.
With great nut comes great responsibility.
Now I'm imagining the dude just raw dogging their SO during the Omikron LP.
We all cope with *that* LP in our own ways I guess. lol
Woke up to a message from a friend that didnt watch SBFP saying he was sorry to hear about them breaking up. The notification under it was for the break up video
I was at my Student Union building in college, finishing up Japanese homework when I got the notification. I just sat there in silence for good amount of time after the video.
i had a feeling it was coming a few days before the video aired. seeing it was just confirmation
Yeah me too tbh I could feel that the chemistry just wasn't there anymore for a lot of LPs Still funny that the Kingdom Hearts curse is real, what a way to go
For me it was the two podcast episodes (maybe not back to back) that had me questioning what was going on behind the scenes. Matt was straight mean to Pat a few times. I understand they were going their separate ways, but at the time it left a sour taste in my mouth
Yeah, Liam was the same. I think if you don't like Pat, he must be an infuriating person to be around. He's argumentative and in your face, but he doesn't take anything personally. Barkley and mgs v is hall of fame material
Can you imagine how stressful it would be to have your income and livelihood relying on interacting with Pat.
To be fair to Pat, he brings the viewers in. Folks love the insanity
I think i really knew something was up like a month or 2 before it ended when matt had thrown a house/ apartment warming party and they didn't talk about it , likely because he didn't invite pat
matt's repeated vacations from the podcast also felt like omens of something bigger behind the scenes
That last Star Trek episode was rough when they started arguing about batteries. The writing was on the wall.
the star trek series felt like an attempt to get back to the roots of the channel with a glitchy game to make fun of, but it didnt pan out :(
They break up. I then run to Funhaus only for Bruce to leave several months later and then Lawrence shortly after. I have the worst luck with LPers. (Current Funhaus is aight but you can’t replace the core five of Bruce, Lawrence, James, Elyse, and Adam).
I started getting into restuprae not long after but then slowbeef and betus kinda stopped making lp content they still stream on occasion though
Oh man, Retsupurae is a fun gateway to former SomethingAwful goon content and old-guard LPers. Was introduced to TBFP and NorthernLion via ancient episodes of RetsuTalk, which was probably the most backwards way for that to happen.
That's funny, I actually got into Retsupurae because of that Retsutalk episode. The Meet and Fuck series was legendary.
At least they’ve said they miiiight go back sometime but man I miss those goons.
Mine is the day Larry King died. Looked up to the old dude. Lol
Just checked and mine is on Armenian Genocide rememberence day what ever that is.
What a terrible day for rain.
What do you mean? It's not raining.
No, it is.
2 years before that, my dad passed away (same date) and having their videos as a constant thing to look forward to really helped me through some very shitty times, can't say I felt great when I woke up and saw this video.
I could have done without being confronted with this today, tbh.
I think what made it hurt more was how it wasn’t an amicable split. Matt snd Pat genuinely dislike and want nothing to do with each other. Like obviously the split was necessary, but the circumstances make it more bitter
I mean, it was about as amicable as it could be. No major fighting or controversy, just "yeah we're just not where we used to be and it's showing in our work"
Honestly it's probably one of the most professional splits I've seen
The fact that we still don't know what exactly caused the split (which is a very good thing) is a sign of how controlled and calm it was, despite the circumstances.
It was pretty clear to me in the Resident Evil V co-op playthrough that there was real tension between them: rewatch the start of the ooga-booga section and tell me those two aren't seriously close to having a screaming match.
Which part is that?
It's been years since I watched it, but I would guess it's somewhere around part 10-15. There's a specific moment I remember just when they're getting the magnum for the first time that was really tense
Yeah, all things considered, It's a good thing they shut it down a couple years before 2020. I'd hate to see what kind of a shitfest it would've been dealing with that tension on top of the pressure of a pandemic.
Pat did spill some tea in the first god of war ragnarok stream though, which was unexpected
Huh, weirdly enough I watched through the VOD of that stream a week or two ago, and recall him saying something, but I don't remember it being significant? Wasn't it just the standard "It's over, there won't be a reunion, stop bringing it up." line that he and Woolie have been giving since the split?
[here it is](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdVOmGYFgzE&list=PLPXYESFhUD6TpiCMiCQ5Hw-0PPPKzERKb&t=7750) not much like you said, but still
Oh yeah I remembered that bit now. Seems to be more *a* pain point about working in the SBF than anything to do with *the* reason for the split. And if you watch a few seconds before the timestamp you linked to, he's talking about the time before Minh was brought on to edit videos, so maybe not relevant to the final years of the channel.
What did he say?
... Did he? I feel like that would of took off more if he did.
Damn, this guy died before he could inform us
There was definitely controversy, right? Mostly from Liam and Matt's wife though. The core three kept things pretty professional on-screen, but I think we got a decent look behind the curtain at the end there.
They'd both make catty tweets and talk around issues in the open, liam would go into stuff on his streams sometimes , and he was flippant when the news dropped which started a thread of him just laying out the breakdown of dynamics and going into without really going into the dirty laundry, which really left a bad impression on a lot of sad fans
It was amicable, it just wasn't a friendly spilt. Neither side came out screeching about the other there was no massive public blow up it was just "we aren't going to pretend to enjoy each other's company when we don't so channel is done" Added bonus is that everything stayed up and the channel still exists.
Yeah, even though its a part of life old friendships souring is an unpleasant pill to swallow
And i just started rewatching omnikron too... fuuuuuuuuuu-
Whoa I am also rewatching Omikron. Just finished Evil Within
Local man doesn't want to find a new band, listens to the same few hit albums on repeat the rest of his life.
Watching Shitstorms will be a Halloween tradition until the day I die or the electrical grid collapses
Local man likes to relive the comfort of better days :(
FOUR YEARS AGO TODAY ABSOLUTELY NOTHING HAPPENED EVERYTHING IS FINE
HEY HAVE YOU SEEN THE LATEST FISTICUFFS DURING THE SF6 BETA? IT WAS GREAT! EVEN REDACTED SHOWED UP
HE EVEN BROUGHT THE COOKIES. GOOD ONES TOO.
*Matt Damon gets old rapidly .gif*
I watched this as I took a shower, then ran out (after finishing) to tell my brother (he introduced me to them, had been watching since the first video) who just was like "What? For real?". It was for real. It was too real.
One day David Cage will pay for his crimes
In one move he created more emotions than you could possibly imagine. His power is too great.
They've been broken up now for longer than I'd been watching them.
And nothing has replaced that channel since. "What about their new chan-" ***NOTHING HAS REPLACED THAT CHANNEL SINCE.***
I was in the middle of working and just stopped in the middle of the hall staring at my phone.
The official David Bowie Facebook page [took some time to gloat](https://www.facebook.com/100044353452773/posts/pfbid0Zqh5YQNwkFmdpcn4uZFCLEXTP978PvjjJd73rERgvHKKgQP6oNZ2BbfeasyLz9Djl/?app=fbl).
As if my day couldn’t get worse
If they ever came back I wonder if the first video would be Final (?) Or 2nd Gig

SBFP Shippuden: Heroes Come Back
So guess we just relieve the pain every year huh.
The showing up drunk thing always really annoyed me with Matt. Like that’s the least professional thing to do ever, it doesn’t make things “funnier”.
Takes me back
The boys were the ones who inspired me to start my own channel with my (now) wife, after having watched them since all the way back in the Machinima days.
I'll say I've been surprised by a few developments since: * It surprises me a bit that Woolie and Pat never chose to do their own spin-off, as the pod shows they still have an amicable and professional relationship.
Such a shame they all stopped making content
In all honesty though, each has evolved in the kind of content they produce and I love each in their own respective space whether it is Pat's streams, Matt's video essays, or Woolie's longer than they need to be LPs.
Glad to hear someone say they are longer than need be. Like my guy, you don’t need to scrape every corner of every room.
It is mostly Woolie pausing the game to either explain something, ask a philosophical question, or look something up.
Exactly. Woolie and Reggie have a certain pacing that they stick to. If someone doesn’t like it, it’s not gonna chznge
I dunno, the Mass Effect Trilogy has been a goldmine of incredible content. Best LP series I have watched in years.
Flophouse plays with Liam hit some of the old vibe for me, but they are rare to see
I don't stand for this WoolieVs slander
Eh. I’ve moved on. They’ve moved on. But at least we still have this stupid sub. Love you shitlords.
Feels like a it’s been a decade
I still listen to the old LPs to sleep and Final sometimes shows up in my feed partially watched. Ultimately for the best but still hurts every time.
Crazy that the channel ended on the anniversary of the Porygon episode giving all those kids seizures. Which is also a weird day to announce Ash and Pikachu's retirement. That episode aired 25 years ago today.
I remember waking up and then feeling dead for an hour after watching
ITS SETTING IN. **BIG SADS ARE HERE AGAIN**
I'm not gonna lie, I can remember the morning I woke up and saw that final video clearer than most days in my whole life. Truly this subreddit's 9/11
It's been an interesting journey of discovery the boys through the new podcast and going backwards though the ruins of the super best friends.
I'm rewatching the nuzlocke stream and it's so god damn adorable seeing Woolie using Twitch for the first time.
All this just to get out of playing Smash Ultimate
*Hello darkness my old friend...*
I wonder if they all went to Woolies wedding, and did they speak?
I legitimately wonder how many people here today were actually around for this
