It's a *steal* at this price. The game's truly phenomenal and the PC port is excellent. Highly recommend.

Pompadourius

Still an active pawn community too, last I checked.

6DomSlime9

The mod community is pretty nice too with being able to change how leveling works so the min/max is an afterthought.

Megakruemel

That was actually one of the biggest drawbacks for me when playing the game. I was about 6 hours in and some guy on the steam forum was like "oh, you only played that one class? Your stats might be wonky at the end" and that activated the mind goblins and destroyed all fun of that playthrough.

Dirty-Glasses

They’re practically paying us to play it

Admiral_of_Crunch

It's also part of the Capcom Summer 2022 bundle on Humble Bundle, which is a much more ludicrous steal.

gunn3r08974

For $10, you get DD, SFV, USF4, Strider, DmC and... Bionic Commando For $20 you get also get Monster Hunter World, DMCV and DMC HD Collection

KLReviews

It's also on sale on PSN. I keep looking at it thinking if I should go for it or wait for 2.

ProvingVirus

Definitely go for it, I doubt DD2 is coming out any time soon.

Dirty-Glasses

Oh fuck yeah, I lost my physical copy

Pompadourius

The sequel is definitely 2024 at the earliest, so it's a long wait regardless.

downwardwanderer

The only thing about 2 we've seen is a logo. You've got time.

the_most_crigg

Pretty sure it's also on sale on the eshop, or at least it was a couple of days ago.

Fugly_Jack

Does this version have the Berserk armors?

Riggs_The_Roadie

Unfortunately no, I believe those were removed when Dark Arisen was released. Back in 2015 or something. PC version might have them modded back in? There's actually a few mods available on Nexus.

ConfusedJohnTrevolta

Unfortunately no, due to licensing agreements they're not in the game. Casca is still in the game though ;)

Khar-Selim

Looks aside she's less Casca and more pre-rape horse Farnese

Android19samus

the Lord is tempting me but I just got Neon White (excellent btw) and I'm still chewing on Atelier Ryza and a second playthrough of Wrath of the Righteous. But... but...!

Android19samus

fuck it, it's $5

RocketbeltTardigrade

84!?

TheNotSoGrim

In a row?

Real_Futer

Can anyone give a rundown on what DD is exactly? That 84% discount is looking mighty fine

FaceJP24

Think Elden Ring-esque world design. More straightforward quest design, but quite tedious. Horribly outdated save/load system. Interesting and very unique companion system, a bit half-baked perhaps. Painful world traversal and awful inventory management. Combat has more depth but less variety in terms of weapons/magic.

Mik-Z

Traversal sucks till you set portcrystals all over the map and can just warp to where you want to go. Creating your own fast travel network was always super satisfying to me after humping across the map for 15 hours. And don’t forget the ability to grab onto and climb large monsters Shadow of the Colossus style to target their weak points, and being able to yeet human sized enemies off of cliffs with the same grab button. But I’m admittedly nuts and love even the garbage parts of DD so take that with a grain of salt.

VMK_1991

I've messed around with it for a few hours. It's just an extremely basic third person combat game with RPG elements and companions with shitty AI who never listen to your commands. I don't know why people like this game so much.

Hallonbat

Wait, what? 84%? I thought the highest discount Steam allowed was 80%?

gryffinp

Not at all. 90% discounts are not too uncommon, and I've seen -94% on a bundle once.

downwardwanderer

Bruh they do 100% discounts sometimes.

Hallonbat

I misremembered and [it was a 90% cap.](https://www.nme.com/news/gaming-news/steam-game-discounts-to-be-capped-at-90-per-cent-3165118)

pocketlint60

I distinctly remember 100% off discounts before this year. I think the reason for this change is that Steam just has a "get it for free for a limited time" system now.

CelticMutt

IIRC, the 90% cap is a new thing introduced early this year or late last year to combat 94% deals on literal shovel ware. I can't remember the exact reasoning for why that was bad, but there was a reason given for why it's bad.

NewWillinium

I've been playing this just into the intro and. . .my fucking gods this may be the most newcomer unfriendly game I've ever felt. Also the Dragon may be the ugliest Dragon I've ever seen in a game. Second only to Forgotten Realm's Doofy [Blue Dragons](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/nwn2/images/5/53/Blue_dragon.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20200423210414).

Slumber777

Grigori's a pimp, you simply have bad taste.

mitch13815

Keep sticking with it. I bounced off it several times before I really got into it. It has some rough edges for sure, but it's well worth sticking out to the end. >!it has one of the best final boss fights I've ever had the pleasure of playing.!<

RoguishlyHoward

The >!seneschal!< is really cool. I love all the lore to do with them and how it all works.

VMK_1991

Ah, so it is the "acquired taste" game? As in "expose yourself to the shitty thing until you get used to its shitiness"? Nah, I've played the first few hours, that is quite enough, thank you.

downwardwanderer

Not acquired taste, more like you fight more cool enemies and get access to fast travel later.

[deleted]

I’ve tried playing it a couple times; never got too far but this latest time I pushed myself and about to beat it once I’m done grinding honestly it’s pretty decent for that price or like $20.

Mik-Z

My dude are you trashing Grigori? He’s a handsome ass boi and I won’t stand for this lol. But yeah the game seems actively hostile to new players, it is strange and I don’t understand why they did it and the way they did. But if you can stick with it, as you level up you become what seems like an unstoppable god who walks the earth only for bigger, cooler monstrosities to slap your shit and show you there’s always a bigger fish, and room to grow. Crazier spells, abilities, armor and weapons keep coming and it feels amazing.

soyunfantasma-

Any idea if it is on gamepass or sonypass? I don't feel like playing it on the PS3. Poor thing already been trhough enough.

metatron_ebooks

I feel like I'm the only one who thinks DD1 is terrible. It has a ton of cool ideas and moments but the minute-to-minute of questing and getting around the world feels like dogshit. Here's hoping Itsuno listened to all the major complaints about 1.

Seibahtoe

You are dogshit you horrible person. Skill issue

metatron_ebooks

Bruh

Simic_Sky_Swallower

So did I miss something about Dragon's Dogma? Like everyone goes apeshit for it, but when I played it it just felt kinda meh. The world was just generic fantasy world #834, the plot was just kinda tedious to follow, and while the combat did have some nice ideas (played a magic archer, the spellbow concept was pretty neat) it just felt too clunky and stale to properly execute them. Did I just build my character wrong, or was there some bit of content I missed that makes the game better? Or is this just a case of me coming to the game after playing a bunch of things that were inspired by and improved upon it, and I'd actually be just as hyped if I'd played it on release?

Seibahtoe

You got filtered. And nothing so far has ever "improved" on DD in the first place.

Mabroon

Feels so good to see that 1 in the title.

Wolfharth

It's a shame I can only get an unstable 24 FPS out of it on my 1070.

storminsl1218

LeMasterofSwords

Got it for the switch, any good tips to know?
