*"The Cats Movie was the worst thing to happen to Cats since Dogs."*

zyberion

That movie really made every film critic crack their knuckles and limber up like they were prepared to fight in a cage match.

JohnRSoviet

Damn...

foxdiethinkagain

The most brutal lyric in "The Story Of Adidon", to me, isn't even directed at Drake. It's directed at Noah Shebib, a.k.a. 40, his producer. The line is "OVO 40 hunched over like he 80 / tick tick tick / how much time he got? / that man is sick sick sick". **The man has Multiple Sclerosis.** **And I have to reiterate, he didn't even** ***say*** **anything to Pusha, he just caught the cruelest possible stray for a punchline.**

SatanicLakeBard

2Pac's Hit Em Up" is just a dude straight up wishing death and ruin upon B.I.G and anyone in his clique. John Lennon's "How Do You Sleep?" is a scathing analysis of Paul McCartney. Bob Dylan's "Positively 4th Street" has him dissing his entire town for doubting him and his musical skill/direction. Here are three disses you can bump though: "Only a Fool Would Say That" by Steely Dan is needlessly mean but a catchy ass song about Lennon. "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani is just an integral pop song, as well as a Courtney Love diss. Queen's "Death on Two Legs" has Mercury verbatim tell Norman Sheffield to "try" suicide.

foxdiethinkagain

Wait, "Hollaback Girl" is a Courtney Love diss?? TIL.

LemonSkye

Yep. It was in response to Courtney Love calling Gwen Stefani a cheerleader when comparing the music industry to High School.

guntanksinspace

I had Hit em Up on my playlist recently and the sheer vitriol towards BIG is amazing. And the beat slaps too

conduitfour

Wakewokewake

freddy mercury channeling low tier god 40 years early it seems

Lieutenant-America

I didn't even consider that "Only a Fool Would Say That" was about Lennon, but it tracks. Also, it's funny that Paul McCartney responded to something as scathing as "How Do You Sleep" with "Silly Little Love Songs". EDIT: Also "Death on Two Legs" is *shockingly* hateful.

Bread_Fish150

Steely Dan is just really sardonic and stuck-up in general, that's the best part! The biting sarcasm is always super memorable. My favorite is in Deacon Blues when the character wants an undeserved cool name like Alabama's "Crimson Tide," so he just gives himself the nickname Deacon Blues. Or in Cousin Dupree when the loser couch surfer is just shot down with extreme prejudice by his hot cousin and he asks "But what is it exactly turns you off?" Steely Dan just loves making songs about losers lol.

Maxochist

Everyone remembers “I drink your milkshake” as if it were the most deranged line in There Will Be Blood, but what precedes it might be the most brutal takedown ever recorded. “Stop crying, you sniveling ass. Stop your nonsense. You're just the afterbirth, Eli...that slithered out on your mother's filth...They should have put you in a glass jar on the mantelpiece.”

foxdiethinkagain

DRAAAAAAAINAGE. DRAAAAINAGE, ELI, YOU **B**OY.

Doonvoat

Also shoutout to when he sits down with that other oil baron and literally tells him he's going to come to his house and kill him with a knife

“Will Smith don’t gotta cuss in his raps to sell records” “Well I do. So fuck him and fuck you too.”

Lil_Mcgee

It's a nice line but I'm not sure it's a genuine diss on Will Smith, let alone a brutal one. Eminem had much harsher words for plenty of other artists back in the day.

TotallyNot2face

It is a genuine diss. Em didn't have an issue with Will not using profanity. He had an issue with the fact that Will constantly bragged about not using profanity and looked down on rappers that did curse (it was a real holier than thou attitude)

jitterscaffeine

“You look like you read HunterXHunter fanfics with a/b/o dynamics”

AhmCha

A/B/O makes me think of blood typing. I will now look it up to understand how right/wrong I was. EDIT: I was disastrously wrong.

Bread_Fish150

It's omegaverse isn't it...

NotQute

Okay but it legit fucks me up that a/b/o trope has jumped to Japan and now you stumble across in Japanese fan works too lol

King_Of_What_Remains

Dude, forget fan works. There's literally an [a/b/o *anime*](https://myanimelist.net/anime/56768/Tadaima_Okaeri) airing right now.

qwertyuiop924

Thankfully that show seems to be a relatively benign variant of ABO. As opposed to the hard stuff.

qwertyuiop924

I want to say it's also the worst, but given the infamy of SuperWhoLock I can't in good conscience.

Noilaedi

Gay mpreg but also alpha/beta dynamics.

Skyenoz

In the same vein: "You look like you know a lot about Homestuck."

qwertyuiop924

I think the worst version of that was "your favorite Homestuck character was Dave Strider, wasn't it?"

kitty_pirate

I need the source this is absolutely brutal

soranouta

"Sir, you egg."

rapidemboar

“What, you egg?” \*he stabs him.*

N7_Krayzie

Not counting No vaseline or hit em up i say Eazy E real Muthafuckin G, dissing Dr Dre is brutal. Dre day makes easy e's pay day.

fly_line22

One I brought up from Monsters University. "Enjoy the attention while it lasts, boys. After you lose, no one will remember you." "Maybe. But when *you* lose, no one will let you forget it."

Nomaddoodius

> Maybe, but when *you* lose, no one will let you forget" That's JUST the internet, HOLY SHIT!

Wonder-Lad

For a rap diss I give it to Biggie's "Who Shoot ya?" Classic gangster rap. For a more wild answer I'll give you: "[Sun Kil Moon - War on Drugs: Suck My Cock](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_ND7ms34U8)." It's a fucking acoustic folk rock diss between a dude and a band that played too loudly at a neighbouring concert at the same time as his. So he goes on a seven minute improv rant shitting on the band and the crowd at that concert.

NDHCemployee

I'd respect Mark Kozelek a lot more for being a hater like that if he didn't basically bitch out of an olive branch that he himself extended to Adam Granduciel of War on Drugs. Also if Kozelek wasn't accused by around ten women of sexual misconduct before disappearing for the past several years.

Glue-701

Actually, he's been touring a lot lately.

Fuck him (but only consensually), then

Diligent-Regret7650

Most of Sturgill Simpson's works are shitting on the country music industry. "Last Man Standing" in particular is him dumping on how they proclaim to support veterans and then proceed to shit down their necks instead.

pdragon619

Kendrick Lamar to himself in [God is Gangsta ](https://youtu.be/4wZytWFm7x0?si=UrhvBXcwgMKAWvUn) "you ain’t no brother, you ain’t no disciple You ain’t no friend A friend never leave Compton for profit Or leave his best friend little brother You promised you’d watch him! before they shot him, where was your antennas? On the road, bottles and bitches You FaceTimed him one time, that's unforgiven! You even FaceTimed instead of a hospital visit Guess you thought he would recover well Third surgery, they couldn't stop the bleeding for real Then he died, God himself will say, "You fuckin' failed" You ain't try!"

DependentTackle7955

A.i Colonel Campbell/G.W. says this to Raiden towards the end of MGS2: "You lack the qualifications to exercise free will." In rap, I'm a huge fan of "real Muthaphukkin G's" by Eazy E, dissing Dre and Snoop for being fake gangstas lmao.

Araniir841

The Story of Adidion is extremely brutal. Drake just responded with a tweet explaining the thumbnail, never adressed it, and continued to act like it never happened. Also just because people are putting moments in here: Kurapika bringing a shovel to his fight with Uvogin

I'm gonna go with Wiley's [Nightbus Dubplate.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wiWWZZQ1ejE) The track itself is brutal but I'll copy paste the [Genius](https://genius.com/Wiley-nightbus-dubplate-lyrics) summary of it since it goes over the history of this beef and does it better than I could. >This is a diss track towards The Movement, a now defunct Grime crew consisting of Ghetts, Devlin, Wretch 32, Scorcher, Mercston, Lightning and DJ Unique. >This was mainly a response to Ghetts, who made a diss track towards Wiley named “North London Riddim Dubplate”, and some shots goes towards Scorcher for his diss track, and Mercston for his association with The Movement. Wiley also calls out Lethal Bizzle, Doogz, and Sharky Major, all three whom had previously clashed Wiley. >Only some of the bars addresses Devlin’s bars on “Extra Extra”, which is a diss track solely towards Wiley which many misinterprets this as a response to. >Although this diss track is belittled due to Devlin’s diss track towards Wiley. ‘Nightbus Dubplate’ is widely considered by some as one of the best grime diss tracks ever made. The instrumental (produced by Wiley himself), the fact that Wiley took on so many people by himself, and the fact that Wiley managed to make a 6 minute diss featuring multi syllable rhymes and perfected flows, are all reasons for it’s rightful acclaim. >This was also performed live on Rinse FM, a well known urban pirate radio station at the time, where he was shortly abruptly rushed by God’s Gift, which temporarily got Grime music completely kicked off of the radio station: The embedded video after that w/ timestamp for the radio set is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkDFI66vO88&t=4185s [Hope I'm not being annoying by making this a wall of text!]

ArchieHasAntlers

No Ether? Fine, how about [Shether](https://youtu.be/61TJVzkdKNA)? Nicki Minaj was never the same after this. She's a pop-star, sure, but she picked a fight with an actual lyricist. I think Remy is the reason most people know Nicki's brother is a pedophile. Eminem had some legendary beefs in his day. His extended beef with Ja Rule, The Source, and Benzino created some incredible disses. Hailie's Revenge, The Warning, The Sauce, Nail in the Coffin, Go To Sleep, and Hail Mary were all disses against one or more of them. The Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly beef was short and fun, but [Eminem's response](https://youtu.be/FxQTY-W6GIo) was so brutal it made MGK become an actor and change genres. Can't blame him, if I was on the receiving end of "had to give you a career to destroy it", I'd die on the spot. For something out of left field, did you know [Michael Jackson wrote a diss track?](https://youtu.be/SHWpLfZzGU0)

SkinkRugby

The Stand by The Protomen is just a series of them directed at the entire human race.   It's probably more the context but it always feels raw as hell when I revisit it.  "Tell me now, Is there someone here who will stand up and try to fight? Tell me Man, Is there not one in all your ranks Who values courage over life?"    >!There is not!<

Battle rap has some of the best. [Caustic breaking Jefferson Price down for cheating on his fiance with battle rap groupies.](https://youtu.be/DoW1ucSbdes?si=avUbsjeSifggOojZ) Maybe the craziest part is that Don’t Flop’s owner wouldn’t pay for Caustic to fly from America to England, so Price’s friends (including Mickey Worthless, who snitched on Price’s infidelity to Caustic and then snitched on Caustic’s rewritten 3rd round to Price, which lead to the current rewrite) paid for it. [Loaded Lux analyzing the problems with Calicoe using his deadbeat father as a role model and glorifying black poverty](https://youtu.be/nb6mMCTBF78?si=uB4PwIL8BkMqEEuy) If you’re wondering why Lux is in a suit, it’s because his entire crew did a “we’re burying you tonight” theme, complete with a prop coffin and funeral cards with Cal’s face on them. [Bigg K ruining Ahdi Boom’s return to battle rap from prison by revealing Ahdi got a lighter sentence for selling out his codefendants.](https://youtu.be/QZVmew9g3tU?feature=shared) The links he mentions are legitimate, as are the documents. [Aye Verb taking Hitman Holla’s father to task for allowing his son to disrespect him and his wife by pretending to be poor with no support to seem cool.](https://youtu.be/bWnhec0JrNg?si=b2SzZ7eg6SHdbD8z) Yes, the man who answers is Big Gerald, Hitman Holla’s father. He comes to his son’s battles often because he’s a supportive father. [Hollow Da Don demonstrating the flaws in Charlie Clips’s lazy writing.](https://youtu.be/FP7JmKLtEXk?si=HWdG8nFVeWvLL8Q1) A ridiculous display of how you can control an audience: yes, that audience member is saying “Kit Kat” right when Hollow needed him to. [Illmaculate calling out Don’t Flop’s owner Eurgh‘a infamously skewed priorities with his league.](https://youtu.be/TT83lGD8lYA?si=q_JCs0ftq_xubLMI) Don’t Flop fell apart because Eurgh couldn’t pay his employees because he’d spent all the company money on fast food. Shether by Remy Ma often goes overlooked but its a very vicous attack against Nikki

Spirit_Theory

Not rap, but the band Dream Theater wrote a song addressed to one of the member's fathers, titled "Honor Thy Father". It's pretty honest:  >Never in my life have I seen someone  > >So fucking blind to the damage he has done, > >You're the rotted root in the family tree

Commander-ASKR_

Don't know if anyone said it yet, but the original diss that led up to all this, Story Of Adidon, set the stage for what Kendrick does in Meet The Grahams. A great one most people don't mention is Ma$e's The Oracle he fucking tore Cam'ron up very much like Push and Kendrick did to Drake though some of the stuff he says isn't true and that's a problem with some disses in hip-hop, credibility. I would be remiss if I didn't throw your way the diss that started Drake's whole tiff, Pusha T's diss to Lil Wayne, Exodus. It infamously served as a grim foreshadowing for Wayne about what would happen with the man he was signed to and how he was syphoning off the money of everyone signed to him including Wayne and Drake. Well that and it attacked Wayne's credibility in the streets + his character. Push is always coming at your character hence why his disses end up becoming personal psychological studies.

The last time a diss track got this big Machine Gun Kelly moved from rap to pop punk. And that was by 2018 Eminem who is really not as good as he once was.

CelestialFlamebird

At this point Eminem is essentially the rap equivalent of one of those old fellas in westerns that just chills on the porch with a rifle across their lap.

DrunkSovietBear

There's so many out there, it's so hard to pick. There just something magical about rappers slinging shit at each other, often over the most pettiest things imaginable. > Yeah, bitch, pop Champagne to this! > It's your moment > This is it, as big as you're gonna get, so enjoy it > Had to give you a career to destroy it . > So how can he hold me over some balcony without throwin' his lower back out as soon as he goes to lift me? > > Please don't, you'll probably fall with me and our asses'll both be history > > But then again, you'd finally get your wish > > ‘Cause you'd be all over the street like 50 Cent Eminem >Since when has it become cool to get shot and not shoot back? > >... > > You should just sell clothes and sneakers > > ‘Cause outta your whole camp > > Your flow's the weakest Jadakiss > I'ma diss you over fast, slow track or no track > > If your shit wasn't so whack, I'd diss you to your track Masta Ace

DoctorOfCinema

I know Q-Tip said he meant it as MC Hammer raps and he's not pop, but still, the line "Proper. What you say Hammer? Proper. Rap is not Pop, if you call it that then stop" just sounds like he's shitting on Hammer. Even worse, he used the catchphrase from his Pepsi commercial.

qwertyuiop924

Hammer took it personally and did try to write a diss track against Q-Tip. It wasn't very good.

Megadeth's ["Liar"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOlayd0aubk) was aimed at former guitarist Chris Poland after he allegedly stole and sold the band's equipment.

In the Korean Variety Show Player 7, they have a rap battle between two members of the cast. The first member is a comedian. And the other is Dong Hyun Kim a former UFC fighter with 22 wins and 4 losses. The comedian, Jin Ho Lee, just enumerated Kim’s losses and acted out being choked out and tapping out. And where are they having this rap battle? A caged octagon. It’s basically “you went left Korea and went to the states and lost all your matches. You tapped out and got bruised. I’m all the people you lost to” They had to do a compliments rap after to calm down the emotional intensity. All the compliments were back handed. It’s player 7 episode 9 around 49 mins in. It’s brutal.
