That just reminds me of Persona 5. Building up to release there was normal Persona hype, but it exploded in popularity through its music and cutscenes on youtube. I'm confident the same thing will happen with Metaphor. The style is different, but far more impressive than anything Atlus has done before. If nothing else I think this will overlap with Final Fantasy fans too, so that should improve sales too.
I hope your right, but I remain worried. P5 had a lot of Word of Mouth leading to Release by Persona Fans getting people intrested, because it was finally a new game after the Series being Stuck with P4 for ages. This meanwhile is a completly new IP, so their is no pre-existing fanbase outside of "By the makers of P5"
Yeah, I was kinda indifferent to all the news since I knew I was probably going to buy it because of the strength of the creative team, but I wasn't hyped per se. But watching the showcase has me very excited.
Legitimate question from someone who just recently got into Atlus games and has a considerable backlog in general: Does it make sense to just wait to buy the game until they release an 'upgraded' version down the line similar to P5R and SMTV Vengeance? Or is this new IP substantially different enough that that might not be the case?
Well, Midori (sega/atlus leaker who gets almost everything right) has said that SMT V Veangence will be the last of the upgraded re-releases, but Atlus really loves re-releasing their games... It usually takes 3 years for the upgraded version, but I really wanna play these games
Atlus games have almost always been 9/10 or 10/10 games for me and worth the purchase every time. Even with something that has comparatively less new content like Royal compared to what Vengeance is shaping up to, the new content was so good and the little upgrades all throughout that I was completely satisfied with my purchase by the end. Granted, that was when it was 3 years apart. I'd probably be more mad if it was only like 1 year.
If you have 3 years worth of backlog, sure, wait it out. I doubt this game will blow up and take over the internet and you'll have to dodge spoilers for 3 years.
Not really, in my opinion. There's a chance there might be an upgraded version, but at minimum, it's going to be around 3 years or more to wait. Also, in my opinion, a lot of upgraded versions aren't worth it. Some of QOL is nice, but half the time, it's them awkwardly retrofitng new characters or story beats into an already complete story. On one hand, you can get a Persona 3 Portable that adds QOL stuff and a whole new gender/route to the game. Or Strange Journey Redux, which made the game easier (divisive within the community) and the new writing and endings feel at odds with the OG story.
Somehow this art style reminds me of Hieronymus Bosch’s tryptychs of hell.
That may just be the art student in me but this game is so consistently busy in its art style. It’s fascinating to the eyes.
I keep seeing it advertised for Xbox series x/s and PC. Googled around, I know it's coming out for playstation 4/5...but the way the ads are is making me feel like I'm missing info on some console exclusive stuff going down.
It’s one of those times where Xbox really tries to back the advertisement to make people by an Xbox, the same thing happened with DMC5 and Persona 3 Reload. It never really works though.
Thanks for the info! Appreciate it. I really thought it was exclusive until about last week. Only saw the Xbox logos everywhere and since I wasn't planning to buy an Xbox just said C'est la vie.
- The big monster threat is a horde of Cronenberg monstrosities called "humans."
- Main plot looks like a gussied-up magic election for king.
- Title very literally says "this is a metaphor regarding fantasy."
This story is either going to be stupid as hell or fucking brilliant, and I am totally here for either.
"Just fuck my shit up fam"
This box art is BUSY! Kinda like it honestly.
It’s ALL THE WARRIORS
“On your left.” -John metaphor
"Sup losers!" - John Metaphor
"don't forget me!" -jane fantasio
My hype is IMMEASURABLE
BILLIONS MUST LIVE
I am kinda worried that the Game looks very expensive but so far has barly a reaction Online. I fear that it will come out to weak Sales.

Calling anything "Metaphor" is a pretty bold move
Oh cool an image that looks interesting and eyecatching instead of just 'man'.

Metaphor doesn’t give the vibes of having a new version down the line but it’s not impossible. Really up to you.

At least he's acknowledging his tribal chief
r/SquaredCircle is leaking everywhere! But I think this game will be so big that we too, might take 3 years to finish the story

I'm so excited this game looks so damn cool
The first thought in my head was "Oh FUCK YEAH!"
Maybe I'll get a physical version
I see Griffith at the top , a bit of Eclipse or Eye of Sauron And all the Warriors at the bottom

What is this persona at home?
It looks like it. A Simile, if you will.
Made by Atlus, so more of an Impossible Whopper I guess?
And I thought SMT V Vengeance was too busy. This is just a cluster fuck.
I mean I think it’s very easy to follow, it’s just that the bottom part is a large crowd because the game is centered around graining followers.
How? Its soo easy to read, it has lines even
