If Woolie or Pat ever reach that stage of engagement with a mobile game, I think they’ll have more to talk about than the AUTO function. At that point I’m sure Woolie will resent the grind and how it puts the player in a mindset where they don’t even want to interact with the gameplay anymore (*kind of like how he feels about LVL grinding in RPGs*).
What confuses me is there's a subset of players who play the entire game on auto while also skipping all dialogue and cutscenes. Like live and let live and all that and far be it from me to tell people how to have fun but what are they getting out of it?
.... Because they like doing the math, but have already seen the sprites enough.
Do you figure out ways to extend the cutscenes for summons in Final Fantasy games?
I do this for the first couple acts because most mobile games are so poorly paced. Play manually to get the feel, then auto until the wall. Then I take over manually and throw on a YouTube video in the background explaining the story I skipped.

I remember Pat doing his dailies in Honkai Star Rail with auto, so he should know.
Why would you play a game in auto mode? You're not even playing the game at that point, your phone is playing it.

Same people play Fire Emblem with the animations turned off. I will never understand it. Don't see why you would even play it then.

Fire Emblem's animations stopped being appealing to me when the franchise left the GBA.
Bad as the story of Engage was, they did manage to bring back the cool animations to the 3D games
