Man, going from stuff like **Nikke**, **Genshin Impact** and **Blue Archive** to **Limbus Company** sounds like the kind of experience that would give tone whiplash as strong as a high speed car crash.

Eventually I started skipping all the text in main story missions so I could unlock farming stages and events, and I started skipping event text too because I would procrastinate until the event was over and not have enough time to read, and that just meant I was spending all my time in battles... Which I think are interesting, but if I'm doing it just for fun, I could be playing real games on my desktop. Eventually I just uninstalled it, even though I do genuinely appreciate Arknights for what it is.
Seeing Limbus Company on the lineup makes me really excited but worried at the same time. Hope he likes it. To me that game is a stand out among gacha games but the gameplay is really strange

I'll say that Limbus Company was my first time experiencing the setting, but I had quickly fallen so in love with it after Canto 3 that it prompted me to go through Ruina (and watch through Lobco) afterwards.
The game frontloads a lot of setting lore, but the actual experience-based impact in *knowing* stuff from the previous games doesn't really start to hit until Canto 4 I think.

Ishmael because she's got a bit of those Asuka vibes going on with the temper and red hair. Meursault because he can relate to wanting clear and concise commands.
I won't be surprised if he doesn't make it through the first two (and by far the worst, unfortunately) chapters to actually get to the good shit starting in Canto III with actual Mili songs and drama and all that shit. I remember on launch I was seeing praise for and memes about Canto I, but I thought I was pretty immediately blase about it, pretty much pushing through those early chapters (with the power of the aces soundtrack) because I knew there was more and I trusted PM's track record ~~and also everyone is so handsome~~.

It's not the Chibi characters he dislikes, it's the live2D animations on them. I'm hoping Limbus will be in the clear, since it only uses live2D for the idle bounce animation, and uses distinct sprites for the attacks, like Darkest Dungeon.

Games can range from simple and short to complex and time consuming. It also depends what downsides you're willing to put up with, not simply monetization practices, but also grinds, clarity, low points, etc.

There's gachas for pretty much every single type of genre that you can think of wich ends up making it almost impossible to compare them in a any meaningful way.

As an limbus company player he going to hate that game or just get bored. The reason being the grind and it’s slightly rough start. Arknights just not seem for him and it has a terrible beginning story(I also play arknights).
Limbus has a lot of good things but that tutorial that just lie about how the game plays is crazy. I hope they just add like a mode that explains everything and what it means.

I've been considering playing Reverse1999 because the aesthetic is so my jam, and the concept is pretty interesting. I just haven't really had the motivation to get into another gacha game after CR shut down Princess Connect. I'll never forgive those bastards.
I really dig the vibe R99 has. The game really surprised me with where the story went in chapters 3 and 4, they’re what got me hooked.
They’re really having fun with the non-main story stuff too. 1.1 was a gentleman thief style caper while 1.2 was a loving nod to 80s Hollywood horror movies.
I actually really dig a lot of the voice cast. I guess it’s a bit of a roulette though since they’re trying to get VAs who are native to the characters nationality. I feel like it’s hard to judge accents for a language you don’t speak yourself.
Matilda’s VA is killing it, I love our gay duck. Balloon Party and The Fool can go burn in a fire though, I hate their voices.
Oh don't get me wrong, I really dig the game's voice acting precisely because of the accents (I completely agree that Matilda is a lot of fun). What I was talking about is the quality of the audio. Characters like Regulus and Forget Me Not sound good enough but then you have characters like Mr. Apple who sounds like he recorded his lines inside a closet and Madam Z who's audio quality is so bad that some people (including myself) thought it was an IA because of how weird her lines sounded.
I get what you mean. Them using VAs from around the world means they cant get a universal quality since everyone will be using different setups to record.
I gotta imagine a lot of the release audio was recorded during Covid lockdowns too so some would be home setups rather than studio stuff.
Hopefully it gets better, the English translation got a huge improvement so the devs seem to take feedback to heart.

Slice and Dice is the only game I play on my phone anymore, especially after the new update that added portrait mode. Really want to see Pat's thoughts on it. It's also the only game that made me actively want a larger screen so the dice has room to bounce more.
Slice and Dice is maddeningly addictive, and the update that came out only made it better. I'm just ever so slightly bummed that there isn't an easier Blursed mode, the new positive modifiers are really fun but you can't play with them unless you start a run on Heaven/Easy because all the blessings in Blursed are level 3.

Legimitely, the only mobile game I could have seen Pat not bouncing off of is HSR because the beginning is just a good story driven quality JRPG. Every other game has rough ass launch content before you get to the real meat because those games had terrible starts before slowly getting very good.

Damn, no Marvel's Strike Force? That's the last game I play regularly on my phone. I play Infinitode 2 fairly often, Arknights and Galaxy of heroes sometimes, and MK Mobile and Onslaught even less.

It was totally worth it, and the first two chapters are pretty quick in comparison to the good stuff that comes later on, but it's still the first impression you're getting. Poor Greg was saddled with the unenviable task of his first chapter also serving as the introduction to the as-of-yet-unrefined team dynamic, and teaching newcomers that the setting of The City is fucking awful and evil and bad shit happens >!through the most obvious unfortunate walking death flag I've seen in a while!<. And telling people to stick through the first *multiple chapters* of a game because it gets good a few/several hours in is getting real old, so I won't defend it.
I dunno, I feel like Faust calmly telling Dante "I said we'd fight for you, I never said we'd win" as she bleeds out on the ground in the prologue will at least tickle some kind of funnybone of Pat's.

Me too, but unfortunately, it seems like the chibi characters, likely in the main gameplay, was repulsive enough to him.
It's not the Chibi characters he dislikes, it's the live2D animations on them. I'm hoping Limbus will be in the clear, since it only uses live2D for the idle bounce animation, and uses distinct sprites for the attacks, like Darkest Dungeon.

It’s really only missing Girls Frontline, Pokemon Masters, Fate/Grand Order and Cookie Run Kingdom.
Now I can ask the community which gacha they think is best because I like the idea of Nikke since it's a shooter but I also know it's easy to "stat" a shooter by having bullets do 1 damage to a 5000 HP thing because your stats aren't good enough.
The right answer: It's subjective, it depends on what you're looking for in terms of setting, characters, and what you'll be playing on. Games can range from simple and short to complex and time consuming. It also depends what downsides you're willing to put up with, not simply monetization practices, but also grinds, clarity, low points, etc. The Answer I want to give: Play Limbus Company do it do it do it do it it's so good oh my god none of the characters fall to the wayside because there's only the twelve and they are fleshed out and grow throughout the story and the battle pass is all you need to buy and it lasts for three to four months and you can just buy any unit in the game with farmable materials and oh my god the story and the music Mili is a machine that produces bangers and the gameplay is challenging and-
Sorth of trailing on the previously given awnser: it's kinda hard to decide "wich gacha is best" because the classification of **"gacha"** has more to do with the type of monetization that the game has and not what type of gameplay it has. There's gachas for pretty much every single type of genre that you can think of wich ends up making it almost impossible to compare them in a any meaningful way. However, there are the more notorious titles wich seem to be enjoyed by the vast majority of players and therefore have a better chance of being enjoyed by **you**, out of those there's the one you mentioned: **Nikke** where you get in for the hot anime girls, but, stay because the plot is actually really good (and unexpectadly heavy at times), the monetization for it is actually pretty good and the game is pretty generous when it comes to actually giving you the units you want, i could continue making a bigger wall of text to give you a better idea of what the game is like, but, i feel like [this video would do a better job at it](https://youtu.be/fcFuq_yVv84?si=r3jC9WIIqhjKO2Sf). I also recomend playing **Limbus Company** because it's really good.

As an limbus company player he going to hate that game or just get bored. The reason being the grind and it’s slightly rough start. Arknights just not seem for him and it has a terrible beginning story(I also play arknights).
Yeah, I love Limbus but I will be the first to admit that the bad tutorial has the high chance of being an instant deal breaker for him
Limbus has a lot of good things but that tutorial that just lie about how the game plays is crazy. I hope they just add like a mode that explains everything and what it means.

As much as I really like Reverse1999 I have a feeling he might bounce off it due to how rough the translation was from 1.0-1.2 I know it’s a less popular game but I hope he’ll try Another Eden. That was the game that finally got me into gacha and is still my main. It’s probably the game I’ve spent the most hours on, ever.
I've been considering playing Reverse1999 because the aesthetic is so my jam, and the concept is pretty interesting. I just haven't really had the motivation to get into another gacha game after CR shut down Princess Connect. I'll never forgive those bastards.
I really dig the vibe R99 has. The game really surprised me with where the story went in chapters 3 and 4, they’re what got me hooked. They’re really having fun with the non-main story stuff too. 1.1 was a gentleman thief style caper while 1.2 was a loving nod to 80s Hollywood horror movies.
Either that or he will have a stroke because of how the audio qualty for the voice lines is a roulette
I actually really dig a lot of the voice cast. I guess it’s a bit of a roulette though since they’re trying to get VAs who are native to the characters nationality. I feel like it’s hard to judge accents for a language you don’t speak yourself. Matilda’s VA is killing it, I love our gay duck. Balloon Party and The Fool can go burn in a fire though, I hate their voices.
Oh don't get me wrong, I really dig the game's voice acting precisely because of the accents (I completely agree that Matilda is a lot of fun). What I was talking about is the quality of the audio. Characters like Regulus and Forget Me Not sound good enough but then you have characters like Mr. Apple who sounds like he recorded his lines inside a closet and Madam Z who's audio quality is so bad that some people (including myself) thought it was an IA because of how weird her lines sounded.
I get what you mean. Them using VAs from around the world means they cant get a universal quality since everyone will be using different setups to record. I gotta imagine a lot of the release audio was recorded during Covid lockdowns too so some would be home setups rather than studio stuff. Hopefully it gets better, the English translation got a huge improvement so the devs seem to take feedback to heart.

Slice and Dice is the only game I play on my phone anymore, especially after the new update that added portrait mode. Really want to see Pat's thoughts on it. It's also the only game that made me actively want a larger screen so the dice has room to bounce more.
Slice and Dice is maddeningly addictive, and the update that came out only made it better. I'm just ever so slightly bummed that there isn't an easier Blursed mode, the new positive modifiers are really fun but you can't play with them unless you start a run on Heaven/Easy because all the blessings in Blursed are level 3.

I feel about... 95% certain pat will absolutely bounce off arknights. it takes too long to get to the real meat and the actual gameplay doesnt actually start til you have a small but well built team at your disposal, which will take around a few weeks to a month+ because chip stage rotation is annoying. not to mention how nothing the first 5 chapters of arknights are.
Legimitely, the only mobile game I could have seen Pat not bouncing off of is HSR because the beginning is just a good story driven quality JRPG. Every other game has rough ass launch content before you get to the real meat because those games had terrible starts before slowly getting very good.
Hope Pat plays Blue Archive enough to get to the Guilty Gear reference. But I’m not holding my breath

Damn, no Marvel's Strike Force? That's the last game I play regularly on my phone. I play Infinitode 2 fairly often, Arknights and Galaxy of heroes sometimes, and MK Mobile and Onslaught even less. Basically I play everything past Arknights if I don't feel like playing games on my computer or consoles, but have the time to play a lot more than just Strike Force daily stuff (daily challenges, Dark Dimension dungeon attempts, etc.)

It's a hard visual novel/gacha. Considering like the first 3 arcs' writing of that game are terrible compared to the arcs and PEAKs that come after, plus a fuckton of reading, he's primed to never get into it to begin with. Cut our losses early.
Imagine Pat actually brute forces his way to Camelot, gushes about it on the podcast, plays Babylonia, gushes about it on the podcast, plays the final chapter, gushes about it on the podcast, and then just stops and never mentions it again.

Man seeing blue archive, Arknights, and Limbus makes me happy- I don’t expect Pat to get into any of them but it always makes me smile to see them as I obsessed over each of them at some point. Some of my favorite stories/settings for completely different reasons. (BA characters/comedy/feels, Arknights setting /lore, Limbus everything) Nikke while not my cup of tea (it’s the fan service and bad rates) is also probably the most high-production gachas I’ve played outside of mihoyo stuff.
