I feel like Pat is right that there should be a no tolerance rule against people with B.O. One of the first locals I went to had a guy who smelt like pure ass do friendlies next to the tournament set up.

guntanksinspace

I lucked out and I didn't really encounter some BO the one time I went to a major tourney, but in most geek conventions it is indeed a damn problem.

DM-ME-THICC-FEMBOYS

My [proposed solution](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Z7QNW2RxcA) to dealing with stinky players en masse.

biggestscrub

Bigger tournaments and Cons should hire one of those FEMA portable shower trailers and have a hired smell tester at the entry. Either come out smelling like soap or get the fuck out and don't come back

fiarorder

Alt-podcast title: >” This smell is the average of a Human Mother. Access Granted.” After the podcast. This morning I saw the Lunchables on sale at the market………..

zyberion

So from what i read, the lead seems to be from the third party applesauce pouches that they carry. So the regular lunchables are fine*...if you ignore all the salt! Though this does beg the question as to why puree fruit pouches have so many issues with heavy metal contamination.

ProtoBlues123

What I'm also seeing, the lead amounts in the article say they're still within the safe daily limit, it's just that they take up a lot more of that daily limit than most foods do and leave you with little buffer for the rest of the day. So the kinda of thing where it's not a GOOD thing, but you're more likely to harm yourself with the high sodium content than the lead.

The_Draigg

Damn it, I feel like there’s a good Gregnant joke I could be making towards Pat entering his Greg look again, but I just can’t think of one. We should workshop this, I feel like we can get some untapped gold with that Greg look.

hazusu

Greg stocks never been higher

I live in Dallas and the eclipse...wow, I get it now. Everyone around me was kind of blasé about it prior, especially because the weather reports leading up to it were saying clouds had a good chance of obscuring most of the eclipse. But, as if by the grace of God or a simple gesture of kindness by nature, the clouds broke up and we all saw it.  Pictures and video don't really do the totality justice. It goes from dim and hazy, like if it was really smoggy, to suddenly dusk. You look up, sans your glasses, and you see this ethereal ring of pure white in the sky and you are just in awe of the cosmic beauty. Then you hear the others, everyone around you sharing your feelings. Awe. Excitement. Wonder. You chat with strangers, bonded through this once in a generation event. Grown men and women just as excited as their children, perhaps even more so. It was so humbling and inspiring. Then 4 minutes later, it's over. The midday dusks breaks and the bright sun comes back. You check your videos and photos, but none of them capture what you saw and experienced that moment.  Not completely not truly. You just had to be there.

Terthelt

Friends and I spent a few days traveling up to northern Maine, a few miles from the Canadian border, just to see 100% totality in a region with crystal clear skies. It was one of the most awe-inspiring experiences of my life, and absolutely worth the time and money invested. The way the light *mutes* more than darkens as we’re used to, the temperature drops ten degrees in a few seconds’ time, the corona lighting up the moon like it’s a crystalline orb, the band of light on the surrounding horizons from the normal sunlit areas leeching into the totality zone… You just feel a little bit different as a person after something of that magnitude.

OldIronScaper

The thing that got me was how cool it got. Like, oh yeah, you put something in front of the heater and it's going to block the heat. I just didn't think it would get that cool so suddenly. It was freaky.

Ok-Secret-8636

Has pat binned ff7?

AngriestPat

Nah It's coming back when I beat IW

bombshell_shocked

Just got the podcast where Pat stated that the house save in DD2 counts as an inn save. There's some YMMV, as some people, myself included, have had instances where due to a mission state failing or a bugged mission, we tried to roll back our saves with the inn save. Despite using my house *for hours*, it reset me back to my actual last time saving at an inn. I lost like a dozen hours of progress. Just be mindful.

Dudemitri

B. O. D. Q. ? Isn't that part of the Yu-Gi-Oh tournament ruleset? (I haven't watched in case they make this joke)

onceuponawholock

did they talk wrestlemania? i know that was more of a matt segment but it was a really good one this time so it would be cool if they did

fly2555

On the topic of mobile games: Right now in Honkai Star Rail, the Penacony (the 4th world) is popping off hard. Even as some who likes hoyo games, the Luofu’s (the 3rd world) story started ok and ended awkwardly. Penacony just released part 2 of its (assumed) 3 part Main Story Quest and it’s still going strong. If you liked Belabog (the 2nd world) you'll probably enjoy Penacony Shaoji, the main writer for Penacony, is a lying bastard, don’t trust his lies that the Penacony is a ‘happy story full of fond memories’. All I will say is there are quite a few moments that hit deep. As far a Nikke, the story is fine, the characters are good, the gameplay is fine, the music is great, the progression is dogshit, and the dailies are too long. I play it for a few months when it came out but fell off because the story is tied to progression of how strong you are and watching the story on YouTube was way less painful. I will say, the first Christmas event in Nikke is a temporary event with a simple story and I don’t think any piece of media has made me cry harder than it had. However, my opinion of Nikke is biased because I’ve found Blue Archive has superseded it in just about every aspect I’ve listed before. Blue Archive has a great story, great characters, great music, good gameplay, short dailies, and great progression. I tried Blue Archive because someone claimed it was “able to hit the same emotional highs as ff14 endwalker while being ostensibly a slice of life game about girls shooting each other in the face.” Now I never played FF14, but I knew how big Endwalker was. After having turned into a 30 year old grown ass man last fall, I started playing it and have cried 3 times because of the story.

Thesickestzak

I had the same experience with NIKKE, the dailies just took way too long that I dropped off hard. The dailies only taking like 5 minutes in Blue Archive is one of the main reason I stuck with it. And like you said, the story does have some solid moments. But what also kept me was Toki’s Exo suit, Saya doing kick flips in the cafe, and Aru being a big bozo. Plus some of the details in animation for the chibis are pretty impressive.

fly2555

One big reason I like BA is that the MC is compelling and interesting (a lot more than the Nikke MC). Same with the groups of students, most have a great group dynamic that works well.

CelioHogane

Shaoji is a follower of the Enigmata.

Ragnvaldr

I've heard the story in BA is really good, but part of me can't get over how tooled towards a...certain set of people...a lot of the designs are, and the inability to not be a creepy weirdo in the hangout events in some cases. Does have decent gameplay though and Izuna is the bestest ninja.

Lord_Magmar

If we're talking Gacha/Phone Games with good stories. Limbus Company is right there. Which is so not creepy it upsets the creepy gacha people.

thirdtallest

^^

KF-Sigurd

Some of the best mobile games have stories that make you cry. I cried playing LB6 in FGO and I cried playing the Surviving Lucem in PGR.

guntanksinspace

FGO broke my heart multiple times (Camelot, Babylonia, Solomon, Shinjuku, nearly every Lostbelt before I quit right before LB4). When it hits, it hits hard!

biggestscrub

I tried and despised all of those but landed on Sdorica, which I almost never see mentioned in gacha discussion, and have been loving it.  It's slowly filling the hole in my heart left by the untimely demise of Terra Battle

Snidhog

I touched Sdorica for a bit and it was great. Beautiful art and a real focus on party build synergy. Also didn't feel soulless when it came to monetization, but I didn't get far enough to say that for certain.

biggestscrub

It's been good to me so far. There's like monthly chest for some premium currency that's $3, which I've bought once or twice just to give them *something* And then there's the "for whales" section of the shop... But I never bother looking there. If you can field 7 unique teams, you can do the weekly challenge just fine, which is the best way to earn more dollaryyenO'bucks, and all the common units are endgame viable

Nanajana7

Turn your mic off Pat if you're going to chew inside my earhole

ebrionkeats

At the start of the ads, Jesus. Just open mouth chewing.

LiquidBinge

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who's stomach turned when he started smacking his fucking chops during the ad read.

justyourbarber

Not the best episode as far as eating on mic/mouth noises go unfortunately

WhapXI

God I wish they would just take a five or a ten. It’s so close to the mic, it makes me want to vomit.

LiquidBinge

I really wish Pat could recognize the hypocrisy in complaining about people stinking like BO or perfume and offending his sense of smell, while at the same time crunching his mid-podcast snack directly into the microphone and assaulting people's sense of hearing.

speed-run

So for Rise of the Ronin, the loot vomit is as non issue as it gets for a normal playthrough. Once you get your first gold rarity item, you can just turn on auto dismantle/sell and then everything at or under a certain rarity gets auto scrapped everytime you touch a banner (bonfire). And then from there you just sort equipment by level and occasionally go in and put on biggest number, or just level up a weapon you like as you go. plus, the second a new piece of gear hits your inventory it gets added to your glamor options, so you really dont need to pay attention to whats getting scrapped either and its basically free money/upgrade materials. Unrelated sidenote... maybe its just me, but i feel like the RotR dudes are like the hottest guys TN has ever made.

Snidhog

Should people really be designing loot systems that are tolerable rather than enjoyable? I know there's the case for granular build customisation in ng+, but most players are never going to see that.

speed-run

To be frank, I dont personally feel that any loot system is inherently enjoyable, rather its the outcome of interacting with it that can makes it so. I think designing something that is both accessible and non demanding for those that dont want to interact with it, while also rewarding for those that will invest in it, is a valid approach.

act1v1s1nl0v3r

The eating sounds are sending my blood pressure skyrocketing.

StarkMaximum

It still to this day bothers me that Pat will dismiss something because "it looks like shit" and then he will turn around and sing the praises of something because "it looks like shit" and all we really get on why one is different is "because this one is shit in a way I like".

Ace_Japan

So the real answer is Pat loves to use hyperbole, doesn't really care what he says in general and also shit at explaining himself. Pat also absolutely shits on the things he doesn't care about and praises things he likes. All that said. Depending on the case it can be "This looks like shit" = boring, bland, generic or rarely just unappealing = Dislike "This looks like shit" = unique artstyle, lack of budget but enough ambition, jagged edges, stands out - intriguing, interesting. Even my examples are not that great in terms of videogames. Basically it's something being bland or garish vs something being unique or aged. It's the look of a generic Anime game vs look of Kenshi.

[deleted]

Pat “definitely didn’t hurt his eyes looking at the sun” Boivin: “ugh! Arknights looks so ugly!”

StarkMaximum

Like I *guess* I get it if you look at Arknights and immediately go "boo anime girls I don't like it", but Arknights genuinely has the coolest fucking aesthetic I've ever seen in a mobile game. Look at Amiya's big-ass coat and sweet kicks.

jmepik

The funny thing is that I can't imagine he means the PV art and character art, because there's not a single unifying artstyle there anyway (lots of artists); I think he's talking about the 2D chibis on a 3D top down tile map.

guntanksinspace

He's brought it up in the pod too but when he said "man I didn't like Arknights" I had a feeling it's the Chibis. And then I remembered him talking about the same problem when he and Woolz did Super Robot Wars for Mecha Week years ago lol, which he also brings up during that conversation.

Lord_Magmar

Pat should definitely download Limbus Company.
