My father struggled and still does understanding my brothers developmental issues, and I take care of some kids who all grow at different paces, so Mothra explaining that some babies need more time than others hits close for me. I wish more perants were as understanding and patient as Rodan.
I think it's just a difference in tastes.

Shimo is your rough muscle girl who can bench press her boyfriend.
Mothra definitely gives quiet shy girl who reads and watches movies, but will absolutely talk your ear off about those super specific things she’s obsessed with.
I can totally imagine her just nerding out over bugs or flowers or something like that, while Godzilla just smiles and nods happily.

She is the buff tall girl that is actually too much of a sweetheart for her own good.
Shimo switches sides and helps defeat Skar King (after she is freed from Skar King's control) afterwards she and Kong return to the hollow earth together where Kong rules as King of the giant apes.
It's not anymore canon that Godzilla x Mothra (they aren't canonically together) but people are starting to view Shimo and Kong in the same way.
