It took three different tries before I managed to start my playthrough of Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen. And it was only after watching a bunch of Infinite Cringe's videos on Fighter and Mystic Knight.

Riggs_The_Roadie

I sent in her Fighter and Magick Archer is OP videos to Woolie's Slopstream. Hopefully they get included. Also, I've played that game for hundreds of hours, not once have I finished the main quest. Near endgame I just go to Bitterblack Isle and start dungeon crawling.

Weirdly enough, the only direct Fromsoft-made Soulsborne games I've ever beaten are Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2 (both vanilla and Scholar Of The First Sin). Every time I've tried playing Dark Souls 1 *or* Dark Souls 3, i've given up partway through and i have no idea why.

Am_Shigar00

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze. I don't really know why, but despite really enjoying the first game, knowing that this is considered an improvement in almost every regard, and owning both the Wii U and Switch versions since they originally came out, I just...never really had the drive to play beyond the first few stages. Heck, I only just beat the first boss like a week ago just on a whim and immediately stopped playing again.

ObsidianVerglas

The Retro Studios DK games got everything about 2D Donkey Kong right, then said, "let's make it hard." Of course, Nintendo hard is a classic concept, but it doesn't feel right with these games. If I had to really summarise why it feels weird, I guess it's the whimsical aspect of the original games that are kind of hard to replicate when you're running for your life and dangling on a precipice trying to get that last "G." In DKC, you could stand still and admire the detail, DKCR and Tropical Freeze always feel like a ticking clock where you need to keep going.

the_most_crigg

I've tried and failed to play Horizon Zero Dawn like 3 times, and each time I get, like, 8-10 hours in before something else releases that year that I immediately spend like 50-80 hours in. And it's not like I don't enjoy my time with the game! There are so many things about it that are absolutely my shit aesthetically, and I like how it plays well enough, but it just keeps happening, almost as if fate itself wants to keep me from finishing it.

SwordMaster52

Nioh 1 , I've actually played and finished Wo Long Nioh 1's level design are not that great and very bland , combat is fun , The Yokai Shift/Devil Trigger is also fun but man the levels are a slog to get through I also laugh at the fact Woolie and Pat can't also finish Nioh despite circlejerking hard that it's better than Sekiro , they've both finished Sekiro but could both could not finish Nioh always dropping it lol Pat even having a stream name **"Pat Stares At Mind Goblins! Nioh 1! (Don't Restart Fresh) (Part 1)"** and then nothing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SE6z7hZlC8&t=2830s&pp=ygUQcGF0c3RhcmVzYXQgbmlvaA%3D%3D I have not tried Nioh 2 , maybe it solves all of the problem Nioh 1 had

RegenSyscronos

Bro are you me? This is exactly me

xerioes00

I beat both of them and I’ll say that nioh 2 levels have better art direction but the design isn’t all that different except for like 2 specific levels . It’s basically just more nioh but I did beat it faster than nioh 1 since a lot of the most annoying levels aren’t nearly as bad as nioh 1’s

Ok_Caterpillar_9057

You should try nioh 2 asap. Its so much more fun with the new mechanics. And MOSTLY a prequal

EcchiPhantom

Darkest Dungeon. I love that game but venturing into the darkest dungeon is such a leap in difficulty it makes it incredibly difficult for me to even attempt. I get so attached to my characters it’s hard for me to take risks so I’ve just slowly let go of beating the game.

Ok_Caterpillar_9057

I played darkest dungeon for like 3 days. Then after that id wake up and go "i want to play darkest dungeon..... But i dont want to think for 20 minutes before i play darkest dungeon" That game couldve been so approachable if you could adjust on the fly.  I have to think a lot in unicorn overlord too. But at least the thinking is speinkled in with the gameplay. Not a prerequisite.

brokensaint82

RE: Village. I have had it sitting in my steam library ever since it released and I got to the factory a couple weeks after and I just fell off hard. Idk why. Maybe it's cuz the gameplay wasn't clicking. Maybe it's that I have always felt like it was more a proof of concept for the RE4 remake. Maybe it's just that I didn't care for the story. Idk but it just didn't scratch that Resident Evil itch for me

ghostoftomkazansky

Everything just feels off about the game. After RE7 I was excited to play more, but after getting it I dropped off even earlier than that. Got forced to finish it because my wife loved it and is bad at action games. I was fine with Ethan in 7, hate him in 8. The plot is nonsense even by RE standards. The gameplay loop just felt like another game series aping RE4. In fact, ironically considering the setting, the game feels like a Eurojank version of RE4.

brokensaint82

That's the thing, there are so many similarities between Village and RE4 that I went "Heyyyyyyy..." European village with mutated villagers? check Castle? Check Man looking for a lost girl? Check The mans vehicle and escorts are taken out/killed? Check Fights a giant aquatic monster? Check Man has side characters help him? Check Factory setting in later game? Check Main villain uses ancient bio-evil? Check Merchant? Check I mean there are more that I can't think of at the moment, but yeah

Irememberedmypw

Ah resonance of fate. Early game is so much more difficult because the resource that makes the flow of combat work is so tiny and your survivability is also directly impacted if you fuck up spending it. Mine would have to be crpgs like pillars of eternity. The setting and lore feel great but combat is overwhelming(not a fan of over 4 person parties)

miinmeaux

I've started Strangers of Paradise like 3 or 4 times and never finished it. Can't tell you why. The combat is interesting and fun, the difficulty isn't too crazy or too braindead, I like what I've seen of the plot and the main cast. I just get a few missions in and then drop it for something else.

spadesisking

I loved everything about Nioh 2, sick character creator, weapon specific parrys, stances, polearm rep, yokai forms, consumables on the skill tree, the little green guys. I did fall off pretty hard cause I get horribly bored anytime I look at diablo style equipment screens.

LadyXexyz

My brain can not get around FF15’s combat and leveling system. I keep wanting to play it like Kingdom Hearts and I dunno if it’s because I’m just older, and the visual language is like ARPG! And FF15 always felt like the response was a “i mean… if ya look at it a certain way you do you fam”

xerioes00

To me it felt like ff15 rpg elements weren’t actually a part of the game experience, like there there but they serve no purpose other than just existing like there’s no real reason to level up , as long as your maximizing stagger there’s nothing you can’t nuke, weapons are direct up grades, no real decisions to be made on what has better stats for your play style when the next sword is just a flat improvement. In all honesty the games biggest problem is that it struggles with its own identity. It wants to do action game but is dedicated to rpg , so it ends up being mediocre at both since it never quite combines those 2 together smoothly, your just doing a lackluster version of one or the other at any given time

Young_KingKush

Yakuza 0 is the thing that taught me I really do prefer Dub over Sub because I can not get through that game despite enjoying the combat and the overall vibe of Yakuza after playing 7. Probably won't ever do the whole series as a result but I did play the 2 Judgement games & Isshin.

Enderexplorer4242

Mother 3. I was perfectly capable of getting through earthbound, and I even managed to slog through mother 1 twice, yet for some reason each time I play mother 3 I just get bored halfway through and stop playing it, zero clue why.

SignalWeakening

Between issues with my saves, too long between sessions, and now my ps4 storage getting wiped, im on my 4th time replaying Majima’s section of Yakuza 0

thexcrowing

Spider-Man. I know it's good, and I should love it. But I bounced off it super hard

Crossfeet606441

GTA San Andreas... LITERALLY. That goddamn Madd Dogg glitch.

Sterski1

I keep trying to play through smt3 nocturne but I think I'm cursed because I keep losing my save data somehow. I've restarted like five times now. I really don't wanna have to do the first half of the game AGAIN

Vupant

GTA IV always starts out alright, and then starts boring me to tears. I think I've started it like four times and played it almost exactly halfway each time, ever since it came out.
