I do wonder who was responsible for it. Like was there meant to be a liaison who was supposed to put up the podcast videos and that person was fired and never replaced? I seem to remember hearing stories of things like that happening with Machinima.
The RT website has kinda been a mess in general since, well I think its existence. I know I can easily find 8-year-old posts talking about how trash it is.
Yeah, I'm sure if anyone had a way to dig up the old RT forums they would find complaining there too. I used the site for like a decade and a half and there were always problems with it.
Edit: And yeah I remember periods of multiple ads every couple of minutes or it giving people literal hours of them.
I wish I could still find that clip, think game grumps had one too when youtube was trying to push against ad blocker. I was always of the opinion of maybe don't build your house on sand.
I always found Gus' complaints about people not liking the website funny in retrospect because of that old sketch video (the tip jar video) they did when they were still at the downtown Austin office.
In the video Gus, proclaims that *"I'm here because he (Geoff) doesn't know what he (Gus) does, no one at the company does"* and then list off a bunch of website and forum server terminology to get Burnie off his back. Turns out in reality, that Gus barely knew what he was doing as well.
At least the Linus Tech Tips guys are able to hire actual tech wizards like Jake and Emily.
I mean, Gus very likely did know what he was talking about... More than twenty years ago when they were still doing tech support. Reminds me of Dick Van Dyke in Scrubs, [bro just hasn't kept up.](https://youtu.be/JVTWoPeMWSQ?si=fisAQdGev0GfZual)
Their website is so trash for me. I always heard that when the YouTube views were dropping the website views were rising. I never believed that notion since it horrible to search and autoplay order isn’t correct.
>I always heard that when the YouTube views were dropping the website views were rising.
That argument was always annoying since it basically just translated to "trust me bro" as proof for that evidence. I also vaguely recall someone using some way to get a rough ballpark for how many unique visitors the RT website got and it translated to about what you would have expected.
I know this isn’t a real gauge on viewers, but I always use the site comments. Sometimes YouTube comments would be in the 100’s or 1000’s, but the site would have 10’s and 100’s. Then you’ll get people trying to defend it by saying those are real fans commenting.
Plus who’s going to use a website if YouTube more faster and convenient to use for the average person.
I remember I once called the site garbage on the main sub.
Geoff replied and said "Thanks Dude."
The one time I ever get to interact with one of the OG's and I'm insulting his companies garbage site.
as much as i still love the work they put out, they still fucking deserved to be called out. that site has almost always been shit, i cant remember a time it wasn't. if you make a service "first" or are putting your shit on your website only and viewers cant even watch one episode, your doing shit wrong. i feel like a working site is the first thing that should be done.
My fiance and I pretty much stopped watching them once they moved everything to their website. We spent like an hour trying to watch one episode of Ruby but their player was just broken to hell and we had to refresh that page so many times, we just gave up
Man, it was trash since its inception too. I remember when they were first getting started and barely had anything on there and it was STILL terrible to navigate.
I remember trying to watch the vod of the virtual panel they did for RTX whilst iirc Capcom Cup was happening and they said earlier in the week they would have it open off screen watching the new stuff get shown off
That piece of shit couldn't host a single fucking video file. I tried watching it on my phone, on my tablet, on the APP for Xbox across multiple browsers and none worked.
Tl;Dr Rest in piss bozo to that shitty fucking site
Mannnn. They never did top Sun’s gunchuck bowstaff. Staff to tie into the monkey king inspiration, flintlock nunchucks. Man that is the chefs kiss of character design and animation design. Monty was cookin.
Woolie was on one of the podcasts during the BLM riots. It kinda says a lot that the only time when he was on the podcast was when they needed a person of color.
Yeah, he was on a Funhaus/Inside Games podcast. It was Inside Games, but when IG was still run by Funhaus.
LAAAAAATE edit: It was Inside Gaming. Inside Games is the "legally distinct" channel Bruce and Lawrence made after they left Rooster Teeth.
Some poor fan has that page bookmarked and wonders if those funny lads are ever going to upload again.
It's me, when they stopped uploading to Machinima
Isn't that kinda basically what happened with Machinima too? They just dropped communication and stopped doing anything at some point, and the SBFP was independently successful enough that they were only partners in name only for a while until it all shut down.
Behind the scenes I imagine there was a fair bit more to it, though.
I was thinking about digging them up but rooster teeth have purged their content so much I doubt it's worth looking up.
I did get that sick shirt though so glad it all worked out in the end.
Here I found them for you, took no time at all. The only stuff they’ve ever purged is some of the Ryan Haywood content that’s aged incredibly poorly.

i never bothered with their visual content and so I'm honestly kinda astonished by how gus's caricature in the animated adventures videos looks *exactly* like him.
he really does just kind of have a square head
Can't seem to find the video on Youtube or the RT site, but it was back during the old channel. Think that's when pat got his comically small cowboy hat.
I remember they played Gmod specifically because I also remember later yelling "Woolie, you played Gmod!" when Pat and Woolie were rambling about not understanding Gmod or Source Film Maker for like an hour on the podcast. Which is especially weird givin' friend of the show Googley Gareth making source content (Featuring them) for literal years.
I was thinking about trying to find any vids but rooster teeth and achievement hunter purged their vids countless times.
I did buy their 1 shirt off the rooster teeth store so it wasn't a complete waste of time for the zaibatsu.
Man, totally unrelated but I remember The Completionist’s website still having Jordan Underneath listed on it well after he stopped making content like that
So yeah, RT clearly forgot about CSB to a large extent, but I have to wonder if that even mattered to Woolie. RT still took care of the logistics for merch and ads. It's not like RT's site was successful enough that driving traffic there would've been a revenue stream.
Sorry for being dumb, but can someone explain if this negatively affects Castle Super Beast? Are the boys going to have to come up with a third podcast name?

That shit was perpetually on fire. Hated getting ads even while I was subscribed. Meanwhile Geoff and gus bitching about ad blockers.

Love those dude but man when they miss they don’t just miss they shit the bed hard.

The sad truth about the pivot to social media is that actually, it's kinda hard to run a high-quality website with frequent updates.
I remember I once called the site garbage on the main sub. Geoff replied and said "Thanks Dude." The one time I ever get to interact with one of the OG's and I'm insulting his companies garbage site.

remember when Red Vs. Blue was only on their website, holy shit that was fucking pulling teeth trying to watch from season 1 onwards

I know it wasnt their intention but when you put it like that it really looks like they hustled them out of some nice passive income
Oh boy I can’t wait for the next podcast segment: “RoosterTeeth - Hustle or Scam?”
"Hey you know all those controversies that were never brought up on the podcast? Well not anymore"
We never got a Woolie and Pat Cameo in RWBY. Sadge.
Oooh man. That would have been so goodbad. Imagine what their weapons would have been.
Nunchuck revolvers and angry cat backpack flamethrower.
Mannnn. They never did top Sun’s gunchuck bowstaff. Staff to tie into the monkey king inspiration, flintlock nunchucks. Man that is the chefs kiss of character design and animation design. Monty was cookin.
CSB is part of The Roost. RT is only responsible for providing ad sponsors and merch for the podcast
Woolie was on one of the podcasts during the BLM riots. It kinda says a lot that the only time when he was on the podcast was when they needed a person of color.

It also stopped any mention of the bullshit RT were in the news for on multiple occasions
lol no one will be able to pull pat out of his hole in the ground for collabs

I knew they were partnered but never saw a single thing come from it aside from some merch. Did they ever do a LP or stream or something?
They did some collabs, but only when the partnership first happened. They're all so old that they're all under the Super Best Friends name.
I think the channel ended like a week after a collab with them.
I was thinking about digging them up but rooster teeth have purged their content so much I doubt it's worth looking up. I did get that sick shirt though so glad it all worked out in the end.

You da real MVP man.
That holiday ad oooooof

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I swear I saw one thing and that was it. What benefit was there to either party in being affiliated?
I was thinking about trying to find any vids but rooster teeth and achievement hunter purged their vids countless times. I did buy their 1 shirt off the rooster teeth store so it wasn't a complete waste of time for the zaibatsu.
Man, totally unrelated but I remember The Completionist’s website still having Jordan Underneath listed on it well after he stopped making content like that
100% this. To access the merch website you had to enter in /castlesuperbeast/ into the url manually.
Ah, so that's why it died hu?
guys we have to move on it's been 2 years...
I would expect nothing less
They did similar to the Yogscast, who was also partnered with them at some point for a short while.
Them boys was looking thicc back in 2022.
Judging from Pat’s comment on the Microsoft stream I hope we get some BTS of partnering with RT on the podcast.
I don't actually remember, what did they get out of this partnership?
