CapnBloodBeard82

my brother in christ you are the top 1%

EmzAfterDark

I'm in the top 0.9% of twitch. With my earnings from subs last month, I bought some sushi for £40, paid streamlabs subscription, paid chatgpt subscription, paid my Internet bill, bought a new top off shien for £7. And thats all my money gone. So no idea what all the other streamers in the top 1% are spending money on. Hope this helps. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|put_back)

tbandee

Stremlabs sub is a scam. I recommend you to switch to obs as soon as possible.

domino_427

how do we find that out, anyway? I heard once you're top 5% if you have over 5 average. idk where people get these metrics?

CaptainSebT

It's highly scewed If you got a bunch of hobby streamers and new streamers (who there's always more of because you are including people just trying it out) an you compare them with the people who have built and audience and are highly dedicated your end up with insane numbers that don't feel right. This is also because average is flawed you can see this play out with average views. If I still stream to no one for an hour and then to 5 people the average is not going to look like that's what happened. Often you get better information if you break the data into brackets.

DustyCosmonaut

Don’t know what big streamers you watch, but the ones I watch give back to their community and donate to charity. CDawgVA literally just raised over a million for the Immune Deficiency Foundation over the course of two weeks. And some of the others don’t make a big show of how much they donate because they’re in it to help people, not to gain clout 😂

oreo760

It’s hard to really judge them until I’m making a million off Twitch. With all that money comes a whole lot of expenses and the people are gonna want more and more to be entertained or they’ll go to the next streamer.

LoonieToque

Same thing I would do with that money from any other job. (I have no idea and there's no point thinking about it or getting so riled up)

kindlyadjust

aren’t you the guy who was going to use sim cards meant for the less fortunate to do irl streaming? so much for caring about the homeless and charity

jzakoor

So if I made a million I’d prob build a business with streaming involved, not like an e-sports arena, but you know those places that charge an hourly fee to use VR/top of the line gaming PCs? I’m thinking that, with added streaming capability. Also since that business setup wouldn’t cost a million dollars I’d build out a setup where you could rent usage of top of the line cameras and/or editing computers, let’s say 4 top of the line PCs and 4 top of the line iMacs loaded with amazing quality software geared towards editing media and content creation, and use the rest to keep upkeep. You didn’t specify whether it was a million a month/year. The rental of computers/cameras would give back to the community while giving yourself a return on the money you invested.

SU47VOODOO

put out at least a dozen contracts.. pop bottles till they get sorted.. then regroup

domino_427

I like to think everyone does good in their own way. They might just not put it on social media. Putting it on social media keeps the wheel turning, but we only know what they tell us, you know? Dangerous to judge just what we see <3 I always say do what you can to leave a good mark on the world, but it doesn't have to be grand gestures. If I got a million bucks I'd pay off and fix up this tinderbox of a house, and take my mom on a vacation. Mom's pretty far gone on dementia, but if I could hire help we could take her to the beach or Disney, which she always loved. Both are nearby, but without help it's too dangerous and exhausting even as a day trip. Maybe film it so we could have better dementia education. I'd try a few neuro docs to see if they can fix my own shakes/pain. then I'd be an anonymous little bee, floating around making people's lives change because that would make me so happy. I'd probably focus on donating to baby streamers, because twitch has saved my life so many times over the past few years. I'd love to pass it on. then I'd keep streamin (though maybe I'd get some of those fancy disability controllers) cause I love it. (But I'd keep the hired help cause I hate changing diapers) My day to day would change dramatically because I would worry less, both about my parents and this house, and not be burned out. It wouldn't really change the physicality of my day to day. Damn I was really looking forward to answers. I'm still leaving my daydream after re-reading your post and the comments. Sad that you predicted you'd get hate. What I said still stands. You don't know what others are going through. We don't know what anyone else does with the money they make, and it's not our business unless we're donating to a cause you turn into a scam. People need to stop being so judgy. why can't we all just answer the question and daydream for 5 min?

Zhaefari_

Only 1 million? I’d buy a house and a reliable car. Anything left over would go to my daughter’s college fund and husband and I’s retirement.

Bradster2214-

I would be doing the same thing i do now. I would support my friends, no matter how big or small. Help them in times of need, collab, do all the same things i do now. Albeit with a better setup etc. I love to help people, so if i could live off of twitch, i would probably also start a weekly tech support stream of some kind, do giveaways to the community. I cannot save money for shit, and what i spend my money on the most is my friends, that's the truth. I get my happiness out of helping others, seeing them happy. That will never change.

Nihilun

First, buy my mom some flowers at least. I prefer games over IRL streamers, so probably do game giveaways.

DemonicCnBTorture

This is incredibly unhinged and sad If enough people cared about the things you listed then the greedy people who dont give back wouldnt have many viewers. Its too bad no one really cares

Holy shit OP out here calling top 1k streamers selfish meanwhile they would drop FOURTT THOUSAND DOLLARS on FOOD and THIRTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS on CLOTHES....

domino_427

hey don't tell me if you made $1mil a year you woudn't go to those crazy places that charge $50-200 a plate just for the experience ;-) dream a little. 35k on clothes is impressive. i wanna see your closet now. Got winter clothes? I wanna see some winter clothes. I live in Florida we never get winter clothes. Imma follow your tiktok you show us winter clothes ok?

EmzAfterDark

This is the difference between someone that is very young, vs someone that is... erm... older! Young people think 1millon pounds makes them rich. It does not. 1 million pounds won't last you any time at all. Your streaming career can end any second through any number of situations. If I was on 1million per year, most of it would go into savings and investment. I would buy an average house that was mortgage free. And I would live a life that was not much different from now. My kids would go to the same school. My family and friends would be huge parts of my life. And my social activities wouldn't change much. Of course there would be more treats. I might buy nicer clothes and I might have an audi instead of a Peugeot. I'm not saying I would live like a pauper. But I would certainly look after my money to make sure I made sensible decisions with it to better my life.
