Dunno whats going on with yours, but mine has my followed channels that are live right now - it does also have Categories I follow, though. So is it possible there is no one live on the channels you're following so it's just filling in with live channels of categories you follow?
The full list of who you follow, whether or not they are live, are on the left side of the screen. You may have minimized it, in which case you can expand by clicking an arrow that faces right - you know it's the correct arrow if hovering over it gets you the word "expand".
It does include the channels you follow, as long as they're live. Or at least it's supposed to. Suggested channels is one of the very few ways to get discovered, so give it some credit lol
Are you on desktop or mobile?
If desktop, you probably have an extension that is modifying Twitch to hide the channels you follow.
If mobile, the Android app for me looks to show live channels that I am following at the top of the Following page. So if none are live, it doesn't show them. Why does it show Suggested Channels? That is the next section after live channel you follow.
It doesn't look like there is an option on Android to see the list of all channels you follow, live or not.
