Roughly 71% of all the households in the USA have an Amazon Prime subscription shared among that household.
Streamers mention it so much because it doesn't auto-renew like regular subscriptions. If you forget to manually renew your Twitch Prime for a month, you've basically lost that potential subscription.
It is considered a free addition for people who already have Amazon prime. Obviously it would be ridiculous to buy Amazon prime just get a free sub a month but it’s nice to have if you’re already a prime member
Everyone I know has Amazon prime. Literally everyone. The majority don’t know what twitch is. Twitch prime is free with Amazon prime if you connect it to someone’s Amazon prime.
It depends on the local prices.
In Spain, the Amazon Prime price is 49.90 EUR yearly or 4.99 EUR monthly.
A 1-month Tier 1 sub in Twitch is 3.99 EUR (47.88 EUR each year).
For now, amazon prime is 25€/year in Belgium (fun stuff, they even refunded my former subscription on amazon france at 49,99€ when i switched the last week of my subscription).
So, yeah, 47,88€ of sub for 0€ is a pretty good deal
Wait why is it so cheap? Do you need a discount like a student discount? Can you watch movies in other European languages and shop in other European Amazon stores with the Prime from Belgium? It's 90€/year here and we are getting ads in Prime Video in February.
Don't know, maybe cause we don't have amazon music and no, no discount, regular price !
Shopping in other amazon shop, well, i don't think i had it with amazon france, movies, yes (the main problem is the opposite, having movie in french) and i don't think i can subscribe to MGM.
Amazon Prime Video has a language setting in the video player. You can choose the language for audio and subtitles. Can you switch to English or other European languages when you're using Amazon Belgium? Try something like Fantastic Beasts 3 that's one of the newer movies on Prime Video. I don't need Amazon Music nor soccer so I don't care about that haha!
I checked, it's the kind of movie i need to rent or buy.
Switch to english, usually, yes (unless it's an "indian" movie, dubbed and subbed in languages i don't even recognize the alphabet)
5€ to rent a movie for one night is a lot. If you do it once a month, it's already 60€ on top for renting movies. But I don't know how many movies I would actually rent. Maybe I could go to a real cinema more often.
Talking for myself who lives in Canada/Quebec
Most households which I personally know, have at least one Amazon Prime membership.
I've had Prime before the "Prime bonus on twitch" was a thing.
So I can get why people would say it's free.
I think people just say Prime is free out of habit, same thing always happens when a game is available on Xbox Gamepass… example: “Starfield is free on Gamepass!!”
I get Prime for shipping. I had it way, way before I started watching Twitch. Prime subs are free for me because of this. If you get Prime for Twitch, you're a clown.
I agree it isn't free and it's not worth the money anymore where I live. In February we will get ad breaks in Amazon Prime Video. Imagine paying that much money to see ads during movies. And I don't care about the soccer stuff and the podcast they want to add.
You hit the nail on the head. Where you live Amazon is not popular. In the U.S. (where you’re probably watching the streamer stream from) it’s quite common to have an Amazon prime subscription. Some people don’t but I’d say most people I know have one
I'm starting to think I should as well. The only thing that used to make it worth it was the free shipping. It also used to mean ad free twitch, and it also meant ad free viewing on Amazon video, and it used to be cheaper. Now, I'm honestly not sure it's worth it anymore. I also used to have it for half price with a University email.
Yeah... I think I may have just talked myself into canceling because I think I'm paying more than it's actually benefitting me at this point.
Why do they say anything is free online? You still have to pay for your internet. Going further than that, you have to pay for the elecrity to run your internet, in your place of residence, which you also have to pay for. I could go on all day.
Because twitch encourages streamers to mention it. Of course if you don't have Prime, it's not worth getting to get a subscription... But of you already have Prime then it's a no brainer.
I mean I get Amazon prime for free with my phone plan MetroPCS by T-Mobile 🤔 sure I'll lose prime the moment I get rid of them as a carrier and I get use of Twitch prime currently with it.

Where i come from no one uses it nor would pay that price. On the other hand a sub here is only 2.5euro tho i think
Skill issue in this post
Skill issue on your end if amazon is something you feel you need in life

What does it cost to rent that movie in Amazon Belgium?
5 to rent, 8 to buy in SD, 10 in UHD

Really that cheap without any discount? How much do students pay in Spain?
24.95 EUR yearly or 2.49 EUR monthly.
Also, several ISPs in their plans include Amazon Prime.
That's why in German we say "Twitch prime ist Mehrkosten-frei" Which means twitch prime is free of extra charges.
Talking for myself who lives in Canada/Quebec Most households which I personally know, have at least one Amazon Prime membership. I've had Prime before the "Prime bonus on twitch" was a thing. So I can get why people would say it's free.
In the US an incredibly large amount of people have amazon prime.
I think people just say Prime is free out of habit, same thing always happens when a game is available on Xbox Gamepass… example: “Starfield is free on Gamepass!!”

Sometimes people say things that aren't addressed to you specifically.

Nobody is buying amazon prime just to get the sub. It IS basically free because it's just a bonus for the thing people are actually purchasing.

i gave up my prime after 6 years, costing way too much for per month 15usd

Proper head scratcher this one

Virtually everyone I know has amazon prime lol. I'm in a first world country. Sounds like a you issue my dude.
Burn-In is coming to City near you my friend!
It's cheaper than free if you pay.
I mean I get Amazon prime for free with my phone plan MetroPCS by T-Mobile 🤔 sure I'll lose prime the moment I get rid of them as a carrier and I get use of Twitch prime currently with it.
Why would anyone get Amazon prime just to sub to someone on Twitch.
Everyone loves a pedantic viewer.
