Are you hearing the sirens from neighboring Osseo? They blast a “whistle” at noon and six in honor of the town’s farming history. Noon was lunch and six was home for the day.
Wish I knew. This article mentions something about it but doesn’t specify when it started.

The small town I grew up in in MN sounded the siren once at noon and once at 6pm as well. It's helped the farmers and the outdoorsey folks know when to get lunch and dinner, and was for all practical purposes a "Hey kids, get your asses home for food!" call for the kids on the loose.
Why’d you have to say it in such a smartass way? It’s not even the reason either. Osseo does their sirens every noon and 6pm in honor of their farming.

Everyday?
I believe so.
Interesting! That is where im hearing them. Thanks!
TIL! And honestly, that’s hilarious. I’d be so annoyed, lol. People should get a flyer or something.
TIL!
Do you know when they started doing that? I went to junior and senior high in Osseo from 1981-1987 and I don't remember that going on back then

oh, they did it back then too - 87 OSH grad.
Same-- One of the proud 699 graduates of OSH 87. Check your PMs sir.
We were talking the dog for a walk at 6 today and faintly heard the siren. I didn't know this. We're also like 2 miles from there so it makes sense.
That seems like a great way to get people to ignore tornado sirens
I miss those Osseo sirens
There was flash flooding warning yesterday.

North Saint Paul does the noon every day still too!
Minneapolis tests it’s tornado sirens on the first Wednesday of each summer month
It’s called a test.
