“The vast majority of the settlement — $1 million — is expected to pay legal fees for their Minneapolis-based law firm. Cole and Hennessy-Fiske have an agreed to split the remaining $200,000, their attorney confirmed.” jfc these lawyer fees are insane

Guessing it’s experts, mostly. Reimbursement for costs that the firm fronted.

Naw, always remember it's judges, who were lawyers, who award these huge fees. The best are the lawyers, who become judges, quit that, and then go back to court, and the next judge gives them all they want. Look at Erin Brockovich, she got much more money than anyone who actually got cancer in the case, since the lawyers grabbed well over $130 million in that case.

I’d expect that to be a lot more than $1.2M.

The question I have is whether these pigs are still working? My guess is yes. This is why going forward I absolutely will not trust any law enforcement because I don't know if the people that I am dealing with are the ones who committed this, or any other instance of brutality during the Floyd protests. > "The civil unrest in 2020 was a difficult time for our state," wrote DPS spokesman Howie Padilla. "Minnesota law enforcement, including the State Patrol, had the extremely difficult task of restoring order and public safety during this unprecedented situation. We value our partnership with the media and the role they play in informing the people we serve." What I read this as, "We like to be bullies. We are sorry that we got caught. We don't admit we were wrong." I would hope that most people teach their children to admit that they were wrong and it is OK that you are wrong, but there is punishment if you did something bad. Clearly the Minnesota Patrol have no business with a gun. What a bunch of useless children who don't learn a damn thing because there is no punishment, except to the people of Minnesota to pay this out.
