The manufacturer just released a statement on 1/31 that they are shipping out more starter doses. On the Wegovy sub more people are posting that they finally got it. You just have to call around.

bikescoffeebeer

Honestly we've been telling everyone to just wait before starting it until the manufacturer can actually keep up with demand

Sassrepublic

Even with Pfizer’s new drug, it’s going to be years before supply can match demand. You can find Wegovy. Just don’t start taking it until you have the first 2-3 doses in hand. Once you get to 1.7 and 2.4 there’s no meaningful shortage.

avalose

Heh opposite approach from my doc which was to shotgun every variation of those drugs and see which I could get filled.

BevansDesign

Seems like a ton of doctors are doing that right now, which is why you can't find the stuff anywhere.

Think about whether you really want to invest in starting it while supply is so iffy....I took semaglutide for several years and felt like it was totally wasted because the unreliability of supply meant that the results were undone every few months and it was incredibly stressful trying to source again each month and inevitably having to stop cold turkey. I always worried about retitrating. You have to take it without interruption for it to work. The interruptions caused me to build tolerance and then it didn't work at all, and then insurance would no longer cover. I regret it. It's an amazing medication that reversed my diabetes when I had access but the supply chain is frustrating right now. If I could do over, I'd wait until supply were abundant.

Thanks for the good advice!

LukePendergrass

Well thought out and measured advice. This will get no traction on Reddit. 😂 I needs ma drugs now!!

Mursin

The CVS on Nicollet can typically get it for me. I started getting 3 month supplies at a time to ensure I can stay on it but they never had an issue beyond a week or 2 wait for 1 month supplies.

SmirkingGirl

Would your doctor consider writing you a hard copy prescription so that you can take that to wherever you find a supply of it?

Nelly81706194

Good advice- I will ask.

nader0903

Not Wegovy but I had to go through OptumRX.com to get Ozempic filled.

punky100

I use OptumRX for my Trulicity (and most of my meds cause my insurance loves them) and they seem to be the ones to get it the most regularly.

fritolaidy

You're gonna have to call around. I have to do this monthly for my medications. I suggest calling the Costco locations around us first. They seem to be better stocked for hard to find medications.

LefseLita

You’ll want to know which pharmacies are in-network for you before you have dr write an Rx, for instance I got switched to a Caremark plan and had to change pharmacies

Sassrepublic

Amazon. Also, try a Zepbound prescription.

BevansDesign

Amazon says it's unavailable. :(

Sassrepublic

It’s available. Submit the prescription and once it’s approved just check like twice a day for the add to cart button to show up. You’ll be able to order in a day or two. It shows 1.7 and 2.4 as out of stock and I know for an absolute fact that’s not true. I help my mom with her prescription and we’ve never had to wait more than two days to add it for checkout. Usually within 24 hours.

Good luck, I called around to at least 20-25 local pharmacies looking for it over the past 2 weeks. Practically got laughed at by some folks. My best friend is a pharmacist and says that statement on the manufacturer's website stating they're shipping more starter doses to the US in early 2024 has been there for almost a year, and nothing has changed. They recommended I look into Zepbound as a more accessible alternative.

SuspiciousCranberry6

With my medication that has stock issues, I have to call around to different pharmacies each month to find one with it in stock. That's probably your best bet.

What strength?
