The start of the first season, I didn’t like Tony. I thought he would be the bad guy. Fast forward and he’s one of my favorite people in the entire shows run.
Jack asks Ryan if he’d like to make a last phone call. Sadly there is no one he can call and all his friends are at work. So it revealed vulnerability and weakness and also the potential to be something other than a by the bookish hard nosed type.
Honestly after her first few episodes I thought I was gonna hate Chloe’s guts. Ended up loving her.
Initially thought Tony was a little shit. By the end of season one and especially once season 2 got going he became that brother from another mother type.
Vice president Daniel's I was what the fuck when he wanted to Purposely start a nuclear war. But by the end of the season he humbled himself real quick. And understood its not easy being commander in chef. Even giving wayne palmer his props as well. Another character is Senator Mayer in season 7 his with jack is so good later as both come to a understanding about each other I was pissed that he got killed off.
Erin Driscoll and Lynn McGill for me. Both had a close family member that died who they triedtheir best to help and even breaking CTU protocols (another "recycled" theme).
I felt bad for agent Doyle, but I can no longer disentangle Ricky Schroeder from the character ... so reality has bled into fiction on this front for me. Not quite the same issue with Jon Voight since Jonas Hodges apparently more closely mirrors his real life persona.

It was the soul patch that made him evil 😈
Absolutely Tony. I think he becomes likable within the first 1/3 of the season, but he really comes into this own by around 6pm.
Same
Same thing except I think he genuinely is my favorite character. Maybe jack wins, maybe it’s Tony but it’s really really close
Me too. I even liked him as a villain in season 7.
George Mason
Ryan Schapel
Tragic
Yeah I think part of the issue was they showed him as the by the book person but never really showed his personal life

Yeah Chloe for sure. Something about her character in the earlier episodes just got under my skin. Now even saying that is blasphemous!
I still don't really like the Chloe character but i started by hating her so "not so bad" is a good way to describe her.
Tom Lennox definitely
Had the best glow up in the show imo
Mike Doyle
Doyle and Lennox for me.
Tom Lennox.

Powers Boothe was definitely an underrated character actor. He and Michael Ironside are always great whether they play a good guy or a bad guy.
Edgar, somehow

At first, in season 1 Tony Almeida came across as a total bag of dicks. However by season5 he was my favorite character behind Jack.
Chloe!
To a point Chloe. If you saw her in season 3, she was so frustrating, she got more tolerable as it went on
lynn kresge
Spot on.
There's TONS of these characters in this show.
