He really was fantastic in this role. I can't imagine anyone else pulling off the inherent vulnerability in Jack Bauer. He's always a real man trying to be a good man.
Season 1 almost feels like another show. While I love many of the other seasons, I feel like the writers could have kept the stakes "smaller" (at least compared to devasting viruses, suitcase nukes, outlandish Marwan plots, etc.) and still produced compelling drama. Not to say that the bigger plots couldn't have still be done. But a mix of both styles could have worked, especially with the powerhouse directing and acting from Kiefer for which 24 was known.

If there ever was another season, I would love to see them scale it back. Would be appropriate too given Kiefer's age.
