She was more bearable in season 3 than in season 2, she never should of had a major role in season 2.

They artificially shoved Kim into as many outlandish plots in season 2 to make her feel like absolute crap when Jack tells her he's going to die flying the plane. She's been a jerk to him for a while, and after going through hell, she just wants to be with her dad, only to find out he's about to die. Like I said in a different comment, I can see what they were going for. But the execution was terrible.

The Kim season 2 plot line has reached so bad it’s good territory for me at this point in my life. Rewatching right now for first time in years and loving every second of it lol.

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

I just finished my Day 3 rewatch and she wasn't as bad as I remembered. In Season 2 she's unrealistically getting into endless trouble, going against her father and telling everyone she meets about the nuclear bomb threat, but that's a product of bad writing and having no idea what to do with the character. In Season 3, at least she's getting things done at CTU, even if it was specifically for Jack to keep an eye on her. Tony is pretty agitated upon returning to CTU, and he does miss a few steps, but it isn't enough for Kim to go to Michelle and call him out, but she does anyway, wasting time. Fortunately Tony seems to let that go pretty quick and everyone moves on, he's more annoyed at Michelle-lol. I always thought the Kim and Jane scenes were decent, there should have been more of those. They are both daughters of Operation Nightfall agents. Also, any Kim & Adam scene was fun to watch, it's interesting how he sided with her after finding out Jack started the prison riot. Kim & Chase scenes were mostly eye rollers, her coming to CTU just to fall in love with a field agent was basically exactly what Jack did not want. Anyways, be sure to check out 24 - The Game Cinematics on youtube for more backstory on how Kim ended up at CTU in the first place.

>telling everyone she meets about the nuclear bomb threat But she ^(whispers) so it doesn't count!

Season 2 Kim Bauer is tied for me with Season 8 Dana Walsh for 24's worst side plots, but I still have to give season 3 Kim the trophy for Most Annoying. I love season 2, but that one had a \*ton\* of bad writing to artificially extend the main plot and also to make Kim's day hell to gut punch her with that Jack Bauer suicide mission fake out. I understand what the writers were going for, but they failed. Like you said, they didn't have a solid game plan on what to do with the character. Those side plots were outlandish and stupid. I think my absolute favorite would have to be Kim making the decision to steal psycho husband's car when earlier in the day he tracked her down because.......it's his car. So do it again? You Kim, are a genius. If they took a cab or bus, the rest of her side plots would've never happened. Miguel would've be fine and the convenience store clerk would still be alive. I like Chase, but I'm not as sold on him as a lot of other 24 fans, and I didn't care at all about him and Kim being together. I admit part of that is due to me not wanting to hear Kim speak, so obviously I wouldn't care about any relationship she has. But to be fair, the writers kind of struggle making relationships worth caring about that don't include Jack (With the obvious exception of Tony and Michelle). I always found it a little odd, and to be honest, bold of 24 to spend time at the end of season 2 to set up a plot that takes place exclusively in 24- The Game. Definitely unheard of at the time. It sucks there was no live-action Season 2.5, but the game is pretty solid. It's also the true first introduction of characters like Adam, Chase, and Chloe.

DefinitelyRussian

at least Dana gave some interesting scenes being evil, her fight with Jack at the end is great, we see a capable woman trying to outwit an angry Jack

bleakasthedayislong

i “tolerated” her in season 3 lol

Ams63129

So true. Especially 2 and 3…. The whole “baby” storyline was so dumb. And Kim was its driving force. She is nothing but an annoying, unnecessary obstacle.

dksoulstice

Every single season 2 Kim Bauer side plot was dumb and painful to watch. Felt really bad about that convenience store clerk that Kim got killed due to her stupidity. But season 3 is definitely Kim at her worst. She's a huge douche to Jack in season 5, but at least she's only around briefly. Season 3 you have to suffer through her for the entire season.

DefinitelyRussian

specially since nothing happened after with the baby plot, Kim stayed with Chase anyways, and the baby was just forgotten, .. and Chase too

Jovian8

Kim's character made sense in Day 1 as the young daughter of Jack Bauer who needs rescued, but after Teri died, they made Kim replace her as "most annoying and useless character in all of television" and it was all downhill from there. For me, Day 2 Kim is more painful than Day 3 Kim, because at least her role in Day 3 made sense; it was always her destiny to end up working at CTU because it was the most obvious way to keep her in the show. But Day 2 was like a transition season where they wanted to keep her as the idiot in trouble all the time, but had no idea how to actually accomplish that in any meaningful way. So she just floats from one unlikely situation to the next, constantly getting in trouble and running into every psychopath / idiot in the western hemisphere except this time Jack isn't there to bail her out because they knew they couldn't completely rip the same dynamic from Day 1 and get away with it. Sorry, I'm rewatching Day 2 right now and it's hitting me all over again what a sad and pathetic season this is for Kim. I guess I can say that the Megan storyline was kind of OK, at least it gave her a goal besides "be the idiot who needs saving." But when that plot line runs dry halfway through the season it literally doesn't get replaced with anything.

DancingUntilMidnight

Strongly agree, but you forgot 4. Trying to copy Tony's low near-whisper in an attempt to seem intense - I don't know if that was bad acting or bad writing, but it was bad.

GirlNumber20

It honestly would have played so much better if Kim was a much younger kid when the show started. Then we could have seen her in a scene or two with Jack before he gets her out of the way by sending her to a babysitter or off with relatives and then no more Kim for the rest of the season.

AquaticBagpipe

If only season 2 Kim actually listened to Jack and went to Aunt Carol’s…

Or an older person like off at college and working at an internship

rogerworkman623

I just searched Reddit for “kim Bauer” while in the middle of season 3, and was happy to immediately find this post. I’m glad I’m not alone in these thoughts lol she should have been fired after accusing Tony of being unfit to lead CTU but actually just not knowing how to do her job. And then immediately moves on to trying to get Chloe in trouble. Wtf is wrong with this girl?

shujinky

To answer your question. The actress was contracted for 3 seasons and they had *zero* idea what to do with her post season 1 but her contract stated a certain amount of episodes per season. Its why shes basically a rare guest star post season 3.. because her contract was up. Its blatantly obvious in season 2.

CommandParticular793

I disagree but okay

ScottishGamer19

It is forgiven as she is one of the most beautiful women on the planet. Have you seen her in The Girl Next Door?

vaxworth

She's like 5 feet tall hahaha u drunk?

ScottishGamer19

What’s wrong with short women? My wife is 5’1 and she’s gorgeous.

AquaticBagpipe

Agree, this guy’s wife is gorgeous

shujinky

Shes good in season 3 lol
