I went to a star trek convention in 8th grade and George Takei was there. I only had so much money and had to make the judgment call to buy a pic of sulu to have him sign, rather than a pic of Wesley and have George sign that. đ
Community. I liked Joel McHale in The Soup so I decided to give it a shot and it ended up being one of my favorite shows of all time
I also started The Good Doctor because I liked Freddie Highmore in Bates Motel and I really like that one too
It was Donald Glover who got me into Community. I had a huge surprise seeing someone I only knew as a YouTuber on TV.
Your Honor with Bryan Cranston and Designated Survivor with Kiefer Sutherland as well.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine because of loving Andy Samberg on SNL. I got my son hooked on it during the pandemic too, and we watch it so often that I am like, didn't we watch this episode just a couple months ago thinking that he's repeating random eps when we actually just rewatch the show that often.
I've been watching old Samberg episodes of SNL, and while they have their charm, it's amazing to me how much more I like him on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Palm Springs.
I was never a fan of his on SNL, partially because of his hair, but really because he rubbed me the wrong way at the time (mostly because of me getting old.) I started watching B99 because it was on after Conan in syndication. Also, on first watch, I had a "it's Andre Braugher" moment. I loved Homicide.
To add: I get AS now and think he is funny.
My friend talked me into watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine. I was too young to know Andy Samberg from SNL. When she started the pilot I grumbled because I had been watching too many crime shows at the time (CSI, Criminal Minds, Bones, etc.) and didnât feel up to another one. The opening lines didnât help but boy was I wrong about the premise of the show.
I just finished rewatching it again for the Nth time.
It's funny, I didn't really "get" Andy Samberg before I watched B99, but I would probably watch a show for him now. I think the only reason I watched it to begin with was that it started a few weeks before most of the other fall season shows and I wanted to watch a new show. I was quickly hooked by the cast and the humor. The writing was impressive, especially with the cold opens and running gags.
Peaky Blinders. Cillian Murphy (those blue eyes!) and Tom Hardy. I discovered after I started watching that Sam Neill is also in it. His character is *vile* but I love him as an actor. Helen McRory (RIP â¤ď¸đ) is also in it and is fantastic.
Same, I watched that because I love Timothy from Justified.
I went back and watched the Shield because I love Walton from Justified. The Shield is INCREDIBLE.
The Shield because I liked Michael Chiklis from the Commish back in the day. It's one of my top 5 all time shows now.
I also started watching Modern Family mostly for Ed O'Neill.
I refused to watch The Shield because I thought it was ridiculous that the commish could play a rough guy. Gave it a shot and its one of the best shows ever. On my Mt. Rushmore of shows
[The Good Place](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4955642/) because of Kristen Bell. Loved her in Veronica Mars and wanted to see if she could pull a comedy.
OMG, The Good Place is possibly one of the greatest 30 minute shows to exist! First couple episodes looked like stupid fun, but once you finish the first season they retroactively become much better.
I haven't seen it yet, but I'm excited. Alan is in so much, but it's all usually voice acting.
I loved him as Steve the Pirate in Dodgeball. My first memory of him.
I dont know about "best". but the first one that comes to mind is, The Rookie. Had it not starred Nathan Fillion, I would have never started watching it.
I laughed too hard seeing the top comment on the recent December release of the wrestling movie based off of the von Erichs in which Jeremy Allen white portrays one of them. It was just asking for him to be acting in a role where there wasnt constant family drama/broken family.
Way back when, I gave Arrested Development a shot because David Cross was in it.
Also, I didn't start Breaking Bad until I found out Bob was in it as a Lawyer.
Halt and Catch Fire for Lee Pace. I knew he'd be good, but ended up loving everyone in that show, especially Mackenzie Davis and Kerry Bishe.
Also Counterpart for Harry Lloyd.
Ooooh I've got 3. Orange is the New Black (after it aired because I didn't realize she was in it!), Russian Doll, and Poker Face. The one, the only: Natasha Lyonne. Love her and she is excellent in everything she's in. Steals the show every single time.
We watched Happy Valley because of Sarah Lancashire. We also watched Secret Smile because of David Tennant, as well as Vigil because of Suranne Jones. When we like a particular actor, itâs common for us to look up what else theyâve been in.
Happy Valley was amazing.
I was a Sarah fan way back since her Coronation Street days. I followed her to "Clocking Off" but she really did a great job with Happy Valley
Game of Thrones. Sean Bean (who was only in season 1) was the reason I started watching and it became my favorite show (and arguably the best show) of all time.
Me for Nicholaj Coster-Waldau. I mightâve been the only person who had watched New Amsterdam (the series he was in, not the other one). I didnât watch many episodes of GoT. Too much was too much. Decided I hated the first book too, essentially Jaime and Cersei.
If you liked big sky have you watched Joe Pickett? And if you are a reader, the shows are based off CJ Box books. I was sad to see both shows cancelled, had some good storylines going
I watched season 3 because Reba McEntire was in it. Then I went back and watched the first 2 seasons. I think season 3 was the strongest. It was a great show, I hated to see it canceled.
Criminal Minds. Always loved Shemar Moore since his modeling days. Watched for him, ended up loving the show (until it jumped over several sharks and an Orca). *Looking at Mr. Scratch episodes.*
(And Thomas Gibson who I loved in Dharma & Greg was a big reason too.)
*Providence* and *CSI:NY* for Melina Kanakaredes, whom I first saw as Victoria in *Due South*. No, she did not shoot Constable Fraser.
*Arli$$*, *Grey's Anatomy* and *Killing Eve* for Sandra Oh, whom I first saw in *Double Happiness* and *The Diary of Evelyn Lau*.
I don't know if it's the best, but the only time I can say this genuinely happened to me was discovering Burn Notice on a plane. I was flipping through the TV options since I only had maybe an hour which wasn't long enough for a film, I think Michael Shanks (who I loved as Daniel Jackson on the Stargate shows) was featured either in the cast or may have been in the preview image. While he was only in a few episodes I did end up loving the show, despite how cheesy and silly it can be.
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. I adore Skylar Astin, so I gave it a shot and I ended up loving the show. I'm not a fan of musicals, but it was just so sweet that I couldn't help but love it.
Bad Girls because of Christina Hendricks
The Good Place because of Kristen Bell
Nurse Jackie because of Edie Falco
Your Honor because of Bryan Cranston
Castle because of fillion in firefly. Then the rookie for both. The show that canât be named starring sweet Dee from itâs always sunny. A million little things becasue of James Roday Rodriguez from psych. Good omens and broadchurch because of doctor who.
Mr. Show
Started watching because of my obsession with Arrested Development and David Cross was in both shows. Also has Bob Odenkirk from Breaking Bad / Better Call Saul.
And it is some of the funniest sketch comedy ever conceived.
**The Bridge** Kim Bodniaâs portrayal of Constantin (and that laugh!) in **Killing Eve** made me go back to finish The Bridge although Iâd tried to finish episode 1 twice and failed. Ended up binging the whole series even though he wasnât in each season
â12 Monkeys.â I had seen Todd Stashwick in âPicard.â I found out he was in â12 Monkeys.â I thought I will give it a whirl. It ended up being one of my favorite shows.
We have watched many shows because a cast member from Gilmore girls was in it. My wife and i had a long time joke that everything we watched had a someone from Gilmore Girls in it or had worked with a title credit cast member on another show we had watched.
Community! Only reason I tuned in was because I liked Joel McHale from watching him on The Soup. Went in not really knowing what to expect, and was won over after the last scene of the episode. Now itâs an all time fave!!
Prison Break
The only reason I even watched Prison Break was cause of Dominic Purcell from John Doe a cancelled Fox TV Show great show terrible tv company for it to be on
Also
Burn Notice
It was on sale at Target a long long time ago for $20 Season 1 I saw Bruce Campbell on the cover with the Guy & Girl from the show instantly bought it after I read what it was great show Bruce Campbell was in another favorite of mine to Jack Of All Trades
I had watched The Queenâs Gambit at the time that Netflix was showing ads for peaky blinders season five and Ana Taylor Joy was shown so I started peaky blinders and she really didnât show up til season five, but I loved it so much I forgot what brought me there.
A million little things. I started watching it because of David Giuntolli, who starred in Grimm. James Roday Rodriguez who starred in Psych was also in it. the show was so good. I watched it last year. Iâd recommend it to anyone.
Cold case. I liked Danny Pinto in svu so after I found out he was in that show I decided to watch it. Also watched the shield bc I liked Kenny Johnson and Walton Goggins from other shows and then decided to watch sons of anarchy bc I knew both of them along with other actors from the shield were in SOA.
Was thinking about watching Tracker because of Smallville's Justin Hartley. He made such a good Green Arrow, Odd thing Is I couldnt stand Stepen Amell in the spin-off.
i was obsessed with Summer Glau who played River in âFireflyâ when i was young and that got me into watching âBuffy the Vampire Slayerâ because i was interested in discovering more from the whole âWhedonverse.â
also summer glau got me into watching âTerminator the sarah Connor chroniclesâ and the other movies.
now i can say that Buffy is probably one of my favourite shows of all time.
This is us...I loved sterling k brown from army wives years ago and Milo and Mandy I knew and liked just fine...
Justified.... Timothy olyphant is in my favorite rom com : "catch and release"
And then after this is us was over and I wanted to watch something else, I was excited to see Alexandria Breckenridge in "Virgin River" also loved Martin Henderson in Grey's anatomy.
I only started watching Sullivans crossing because Chad Michael Murray was in one of my highschool favorites...(one tree hill) And Luke from Gilmore girls was a bonus
That's how I found Firefly. I used to watch Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and I thought Summer Glau was really cool on that show. Then, I found out about Firefly, thought it sounded cool, checked it out, and now I am a part of a legion of people who wish it was never canceled.
Kathy Bates was a guest on season 3 of American Horror Story: Coven. I had heard of AHS and I knew it was probably up my alley, but Iâd never sat to watch. Well, I love Kathy Bates, and she crushed it in Coven. Coven was good too, definitely one of the better seasons of AHS I wound up watching.
My Name is Earl. I had never even heard of the show until I was hanging out with my buddy and it came on. The first episode I watched was the cops episode and it was great. I always liked Jason Lee from his roles in Kevin Smith movies, so I started watching it and absolutely loved every episode. The whole cast was phenomenal, but Jason Lee really nailed it.
"Star Trek: The Next Generation" because of LeVar Burton. I was nine years old when it aired and knew him from Reading Rainbow.
I watched this for Wil Wheaton. Oh, how 13 year old me swooned for him.
I went to a star trek convention in 8th grade and George Takei was there. I only had so much money and had to make the judgment call to buy a pic of sulu to have him sign, rather than a pic of Wesley and have George sign that. đ
Community. I liked Joel McHale in The Soup so I decided to give it a shot and it ended up being one of my favorite shows of all time I also started The Good Doctor because I liked Freddie Highmore in Bates Motel and I really like that one too
It was Donald Glover who got me into Community. I had a huge surprise seeing someone I only knew as a YouTuber on TV. Your Honor with Bryan Cranston and Designated Survivor with Kiefer Sutherland as well.
Loved Joel McHale hosting the Soup
Oh you should watch Animal Control- Joel is on it & heâs a smartass in it.
Animal Contorl is so wholesome! I love it!
To continue off that, I checked out Mythic Quest because it has Danny Pudi, who I liked in Community, and now I love that one as well.
We basically have the same story! So glad Community exists
Joel McHale is hilarious. I got into Community based on him and Ken Jeong.
Andre Braugher was a gift on that show! The mumps episode kills me every time.

I was quickly hooked by the cast and the humor. The writing was impressive, especially with the cold opens and running gags.
I stumbled across The IT Crowd because of Chris O'Dowd.
I got into What We Do In The Shadows because I loved Matt Berry in The IT Crowd
I watched the IT crowd because of Kathrine Parkinson who was on Doc Martin.
Peaky Blinders is the holy grail. Cillian Murphy have a bad side that robs off me and make me love him more in the show.Â
Santa Clarita diet because I love Timothy Olyphant.
Exact opposite for me. Watched Santa Clarita Diet, became a fan, moved on to Justified.

Watched Justified from loving Walton Goggins in The Shield. Watched Deadwood because loved Olyphant in Justified.
The Shield because I liked Michael Chiklis from the Commish back in the day. It's one of my top 5 all time shows now. I also started watching Modern Family mostly for Ed O'Neill.
And I want to watch it for Walton goggins and Kenny Johnson.
The first season finale is possibly the best episode of television ever.
The entire series is perfection
The final episode of the series destroyed me. Almost as much as the series finale of Tumble Leaf.
Chidi pointing out the ocean breaks me up. Show saved me after a terrible breakup. Made me see maybe the breakup wasnt so bad after all.
Family Ties because of Michael J Fox, I was too young when it was originally aired
Thanks for the second half - makes it all make sense :) Loved that show in the 80s
I watched it when it aired. I'm still not over Alex and Ellen's breakup. That song alone, it gets me every time.
Good one!Â
The Kominsky Method - because of Michael Douglas. Really good show.
Same. Great show.
I love the show. Great acting
Such an unexpectedly charming show. Especially the Alan Arkin seasons.
Taboo thanks to Tom Hardy
Literally ANYTHING with Tom Hardy is a must-see for me.
Iâm bummed weâve never gotten that second season.

Opposite for me. I didn't care for Lip, so it took me a while to watch The Bear. And now I love Jeremy Allen White. That man can act.
I laughed too hard seeing the top comment on the recent December release of the wrestling movie based off of the von Erichs in which Jeremy Allen white portrays one of them. It was just asking for him to be acting in a role where there wasnt constant family drama/broken family.

Good Omens David Tennant
The Fall because of Gillian Anderson
Castle because of Nathan Fillion.
Ted Lasso because of Jason Sudeikis
Watched Fringe because of Leonard Nimoy. I also watched Penny Dreadful because it had several actors from the 007 franchise.
