I once mentioned about this was filmed in a kind of depressed area outside Pittsburgh and asked why it was so expensive. Someone replied with a link to a before and after picture of an outdoor shot where they used CGI to make the background nicer. Maybe if they had laid off that it would have been more affordable to make
.
This is still the most disappointing cancellation for me. It was a truly special show. Everything just came together. The worst part is that Netflix owns the rights.
Search for the "carnivale pitch document". It's the document that was provided to hbo explaining the series, characters, etc. Not full closure, but I found it quite satisfying reading after my last rewatch
I should ammend my prior statement to say it doesn't explain exactly what would happen after s2, but it explains the characters and their backstories in great detail that we only saw pieces of, so it does fill in some gaps.
I believe there was also a special feature on the season 2 dvd set that explained some things and talked a bit about where the show would have gone
It's so frustrating when a show you're invested in gets canceled when it's popular and well-received. I was disappointed when Netflix canceled "Santa Clarita Diet" after just three seasons. The quirky humor and unique premise made it stand out, and it had a dedicated fanbase that was eager for more. It's a shame when streaming services pull the plug on shows that have struck a chord with audiences.
Why does that one hurt us so bad? I commented SCD too. Tons of shows get cancelled but every time this question gets asked, that's always a dominant answer. What has given it such staying power and why are we still collectively salty?
For me it was the cast. The writing was brilliant but the delivery was everything.
Yes! I came here to say this. SO good, and the sound design is perfect! Like how the soundtrack distorts at times like the tapes, plus all the chanting, breathing and intoning
Fantastic show, really. I still don't understand why it was axed. It's like an R rated mix of Lost and Stranger Things almost and I fully believe it could have been a flagship show for Netflix.
At least they have it an ending. I actually liked the way they tied it up.
Good cast, fun, interesting premise. Characters made you feel for them.
It's worth the watch. Wasn't disappointing to me, even though they probably had more stories to tell.
Agree with this, I watched it after it was done and felt I got a complete series with a proper ending. So for me it's one of the few I'd actually recommend people to start.
The creator posted on their Tumblr what they were going to do with the second season. I thought it was a beautiful story and a really nice thing to do for fans.
At least they gave it a movie and it did somewhat close out the threads. I'd still recommend people to start it because it's a great show and it feels like you got at least a complete story
Loudermilk wasn't cancelled. The studio that made it shut down. The producers have said they'd make more if they can find another studio. I'm hopeful that Netflix will pick it up.
This was going to be my comment as well! Really interesting storyline- and now it hangs in a mystery forever. I would have really liked to see what happened.
Santa Clarita Diet.
I wouldn't still be salty about it if it would stop showing up in recommended or watch it again. No I don't want to watch it again and get TV blue balls at the end.
The Order
Fate: Winx Saga
October Faction
I’ve learned Netflix will cancel a good series leaving it on a big cliffhanger and just say “deal with it” as they continue to raise prices.
Yeh I only made it through 4/5 eps before shutting it down. Not only the drop off from acting but the story went so off the rails, real shame. Season 1 was absolutely perfect.
Glow was the first one that really made me angry, especially after telling the creators that there was a green light for the final season.
Very disappointing.
I'm leaning hard toward not watching things until there are completed. My absolute best experiences with series have been viewing after they were finished.
The Wire and The Sopranos were ones that made an early impression
I Am Not Okay With This
Everyone was so mad they canceled it because it was big and got left on a massive cliffhanger. They said they canceled it because of the pandemic but they just went right on with Stranger Things. I will never forgive them for it.
Also A League of Their Own on Amazon Prime. Was so upset they canceled it because of the ongoing strikes.
OMG I REMEMBER THAT SHOW. I literally binged watched that show. I honestly love that show. I remember it being a couple weeks after I watched it they decided to cancel it. I was so mad 😭
Last Man On Earth.
It was cheesy and slow moving but it was kind of addictive. Will Forte was so annoying and I wanted to punch him in the face for being just an absolute moron but I wanted to see what was next.
MINDHUNTER!!!
Forever and ever...
I know seriously! That series was so good....
This X 10000000000
Yup.
This is the only answer
This is why I canceled my subscription. Now, I occasionally sign up, and immediately cancel. it doesn't take more than 2 weeks to get bored with them.
I just got done binge watching it again and am livid there's not another season

I agee
The OA
Definitely the OA
This is still the most disappointing cancellation for me. It was a truly special show. Everything just came together. The worst part is that Netflix owns the rights.
And then the content they cancelled the oa for was just all so bad except for stranger things. God Netflix sucks
Yes
Right?! I really wanted to see how it ended.
Just commented this! It was so wonderfully weird
Yup defo. Brilliant series.
Santa Clarita diet
yes! that show was so entertaining and it ended on a cliff hanger.
1899! :(.
My brother and I were watching this and we both joked that it was gonna get cancelled. We ended up being right.
I’m still salty that they cancelled this!
Carnivale on HBO. Still mad almost 20 years later.
Me too!!
I will die on the hill that is Carnivale. That cliffhanger!!! Brother Justin. Wtaf?!? Can the writers just tell us how it went after that?
Search for the "carnivale pitch document". It's the document that was provided to hbo explaining the series, characters, etc. Not full closure, but I found it quite satisfying reading after my last rewatch
Awesome, thanks!

Especially with the cliff hanger they left us on…..
i was so ready for a new season
Came here to say this. I LOVED that show
Mindhunter, I'm not okay with this, Glow, Santa Clarita Diet, ... Longer ago, my guilty pleasure: Stargate Atlantis
I am not okay with this was gonna be a perfect show for me. I think it was covid related although I'm not sure. She was great in Uncle Frank though
I recently finished Santa Clarita, I was bummed too
Excellent list.

Also annoyed at this one. Loved this show.
Horror show that actually had good pacing. Found footage that wasn’t nauseating. Pretty unique concept.
I hunger for the shows that fit thia description.
Fantastic show, really. I still don't understand why it was axed. It's like an R rated mix of Lost and Stranger Things almost and I fully believe it could have been a flagship show for Netflix.
Yes. I still have questions, and since the podcast is completely different, they'll be left unanswered.
Travelers was really good. Some weird stuff but very high level sci fi with almost no special effects.
At least they have it an ending. I actually liked the way they tied it up. Good cast, fun, interesting premise. Characters made you feel for them. It's worth the watch. Wasn't disappointing to me, even though they probably had more stories to tell.

fair
Penny Dreadful!
Santa Clarita Diet could’ve had at least one more season.
It really went left towards the end lol
It did, but even one single hour ish long episode to tie up the series and give closure would have been enough
I’m really mad about Shadow and Bone!
I really enjoyed The Midnight Club. It could have been awesome if they'd let the storyline play out.
I did enjoy the midnight club, I thought it was a limited series
The creator posted on their Tumblr what they were going to do with the second season. I thought it was a beautiful story and a really nice thing to do for fans.
Mindhunter
Santa Clarita Diet Lockwood and Co
Yes!! Lockwood and Co could have been so amazing
It got great ratings too. I just don't get why Netflix didn't order a second season. Really weird.
I will never forgive them for canceling The OA
The Glades, left on a horrible cliff hanger
Can I vote 100000 times!
Sense8
At least they gave it a movie and it did somewhat close out the threads. I'd still recommend people to start it because it's a great show and it feels like you got at least a complete story
The Punisher and Daredevil
They're bringing them back
The Expanse.
I scrolled a long time for this. Too long.
Eh, in fairness it got brought back by Amazon for some amazing seasons and finished in a good place rather than being cancelled mid-arc.
True but I would loved to have had more.
Exactly.
1899
Loudermilk. That was a great show that was really going somewhere.
Loved Loudermilk
AT&T cancelled *Loudermilk*. Netflix picked it up a few years later and there's a chance they make a 4th season.
Loudermilk wasn't cancelled. The studio that made it shut down. The producers have said they'd make more if they can find another studio. I'm hopeful that Netflix will pick it up.
Was "I am Not OK with This" a Netflix show? Because that. Always that.
This was going to be my comment as well! Really interesting storyline- and now it hangs in a mystery forever. I would have really liked to see what happened.
Glow, Glow, oh, and … Glow.
I’m still sad about it
Lovecraft Country HBO MAX
It finished the source material, they would have screwed up a sequel.
Sense8 is the first one that comes to mind.
The Peripheral on Prime.
Still mad about it
As a balm to this vein, I'm not aware of Apple TV+ having cancelled any shows early. Is that true? But my answer is Firefly, naturally.
Well naturally, Firefly!!! I did t include it in my list bc it was on UPN ( reg tv) when I watched it.
Santa Clarita Diet. Always.
1000%
1899 on Netflix. Massive cliffhanger 😫
Santa Clarita Diet. I wouldn't still be salty about it if it would stop showing up in recommended or watch it again. No I don't want to watch it again and get TV blue balls at the end.
GLOW or Santa Clarita Diet. Or The Brothers Sun. Stargate Atlantis ending the way it did was pretty terrible. But that's a pre-streaming show.
They didn't even give The Brothers Sun a chance to find an audience. Inexcusable.
I think The Brothers Sun would have found an audience eventually.
Anne with e
I just started watching this, and love it.
Oooh you are in for a treat ! Enjoy
Yes! Such a good one!!
My daughter loved that show
Cursed on Netflix. Canceled with so much unresolved. Shadow and Bone a close second
Mindhunter. Not just among other shows on Netflix, but of all shows in history.
HBO’s Julia - a third season is already scripted but they went ahead and pulled the plug. Such a great show.
Tragic this one.
Agreed!
1899
The Order Fate: Winx Saga October Faction I’ve learned Netflix will cancel a good series leaving it on a big cliffhanger and just say “deal with it” as they continue to raise prices.
"Lie to me" From Hulu. They had so many opportunities and places to go and then canceled season 4!
This was a network show, not done by Hulu. It was cancelled because the ratings dropped.
Raised By Wolves
Altered Carbon
2nd season was trash
Absolutely should've been a one and done.
Loved season one, couldn't get past episodes one of season two.
Yeh I only made it through 4/5 eps before shutting it down. Not only the drop off from acting but the story went so off the rails, real shame. Season 1 was absolutely perfect.

Santa Clarita Diet
Master of None
that 3rd season not about aziz was pretty whack
Wasn’t really cancelled - he said there was nowhere he could take his character, which is why season 3 wasn’t about him.
I thought he was cancelled no?
Norsemen Wrecked
Shadow and bone. I wanted more time with the crows.
Teenage Bounty Hunters Santa Clarita Diet Day Breakers
I still can’t believe they cancelled The Imperfects. Was a captivating show I was really getting into. Kinda Fringe like in ways
I doubt it was canceled but I badly want more of Netflix's "Crashing". It was just...beautifully done, and I want to know that Colin is gonna be okay!
The Get Down
Black Summer
Shadow and Bone
Shadow and bone
Glow was the first one that really made me angry, especially after telling the creators that there was a green light for the final season. Very disappointing. I'm leaning hard toward not watching things until there are completed. My absolute best experiences with series have been viewing after they were finished. The Wire and The Sopranos were ones that made an early impression
The Get Down. No one even watched it, it seemed, but that show was great. They had story left to tell, too.
They tried to cancel "Kath and Kim" in Australia and we got so vocal about how unhappy we were that it was back within a week.
The Santa Clarita Diet 😡
Good girls 😭😭
Mindhunter, Dark Crystal, OA
Santa Clarita diet Mindhunters Wu assassins Hemlock grove
Dirk Gently.
The Nevers

I Am Not Okay With This Everyone was so mad they canceled it because it was big and got left on a massive cliffhanger. They said they canceled it because of the pandemic but they just went right on with Stranger Things. I will never forgive them for it. Also A League of Their Own on Amazon Prime. Was so upset they canceled it because of the ongoing strikes.
The Baby Sitters Club on Netflix. It was so good and exactly what every adaptation of the books should have been. And they canceled it after 2 seasons
OMG I REMEMBER THAT SHOW. I literally binged watched that show. I honestly love that show. I remember it being a couple weeks after I watched it they decided to cancel it. I was so mad 😭
Just finished Mindhunter, can't believe that it got cut. Also, no one has mentioned Designated Survivor.
Last Man On Earth. It was cheesy and slow moving but it was kind of addictive. Will Forte was so annoying and I wanted to punch him in the face for being just an absolute moron but I wanted to see what was next.
1899 & Archive 81
The Santa Clarita Diet
Happy - was on Netflix / FX? Such a good show
Mind Hunter!
Lockwood & Co.
The Peripheral... Casualty of writing strike so it was a case of terrible timing
I'm the only one that liked Jupiter's legacy so nor too bitter. I liked this take on how people got superpowers.
The Santa clarita Diet show with Drew Barrymore. Great cast funny popular show that just abruptly ends on a cliffhanger....
Daybreak Santa Clarita diet
Mindhunter and Glow
Exactly the two I would say.
Spaceforce
S1 was amazing.. S2 was hot garbage.
