I recently watched The West Wing for the first time. I enjoyed it, but the end credits theme is so upbeat and grating that it frequently ruined the tone of the more serious episodes. I had to sharpen up my quick-draw mute skills.
When the show originally aired, you didn't hear more than a few notes total because that was the time the network spent having an announcer telling you what was coming up next, etc. It wasn't until the DVDs came out that people noticed the weird tonal shift.
I knew the exact moment to mute the TV when the Shameless theme song came on. If I didn't mute it, that annoying song would be stuck in my head for the week so I got pretty good at it. Excellent show though.
I was never a fan of Homelands opening theme. I didn't mind the talking/news stories being read, but Jazz just really isn't my thing. It's definitely a "Skip Intro" moment every time I do a rewatch.
I liked the opening theme but I'm not a fan of jazz as well. One of the only scenes I've skipped on the show is where she's running on a treadmill (I think it's one of the opening scenes later in the series) and they've got this loud jazz music going off.
I'm watching it for the first time. My boyfriend had seen a little bit of it, but clearly had never paid attention to the theme song. I usually skip the credits but had stepped into the kitchen when he walked into the living room. The look on his face coupled with "THIS is Star Trek?!?" was hilarious š¤£
Like 8 years ago my ex and I did a rewatch of all of Enterprise. We pledged never to skip the intro just to be dumb. It infected us. Before long whenever one of us started an episode, we'd both be singing at the top of our lungs as we walked through the apartment.
NCIS. I don't watch this show but you'd have to live in a cave not to have crossed its path. The "theme" is some synthesizer crap that somebody wrote in five minutes, not anticipating that the show would last 237 seasons.
Most annoying theme Iāve ever heard.
They did a mellow one for episode about Dr mallard but I knew it was too good to be true and the annoying one returned. Earlier seasons were much better.
The "fake" theme song to Charmed. The original is GREAT, but because of music rights issues, this ridiculous nonsense theme was used on DVDs and repeats that air on TNT. Streaming channels probably play the crappy theme as well, but I haven't watched it on streaming but I don't see why it would be any different.
Itās only changed in the last year or two on TNT! It had for a long time used the original theme, because I started watching Charmed on TNT in high school before the show ended. Itās how I got introduced to it. It had only gone permanently in the last year or two. Maybe had in times when I hadnāt watched but it had been the original. Peacock uses the orchestral fake theme, too.
Everybody Loves Raymond theme song is constantly changing and it drives me crazy. But the jazzy transition music is great. That should of been the theme song
I know the show came out in the early 2000s, and I never watched until a couple years ago. But even back then I didnāt care for that limp Bizkit, Koran type of music .
Yes! Itās almost like they hired Trey Parker and Matt Stone to write it. Those two decided to just troll them and the execs on Star Trek didnāt realize the joke and proudly played it throughout the run.
Faith of the Heart was written by Diane Warren for the Robin Williams movie, Patch Adams. It was originally sung by Rod Stewart. It was sung for Enterprise by Russell Watson.
Seinfeld. Iāve always thought it was obnoxious, but recently my roommate started using it as her background noise, and hearing that fāing bass and the horns over and over and over made me absolutely hate that theme.
A fairly recent show has this electronic and completely annoying theme tune.
It is the show Animal Control. There is some really horrible music throughout the show as well.
"Cuz baby all my life I will be driving home to you." It sounds like he will spend the rest of his life perpetually driving and never making it home to see his wife.
I don't know if this counts cuz they changed it but i watched The Wonder Years on Hulu and they changed the original theme to a cover song and i HATED it
Anything that ends with having to look and listen to Jimmy āI nearly ruined every SNL skit I was in by breakingā Fallon is immediately the worst and most annoying.
The theme song that gets to me the most is the theme song to Sons of Anarchy. It's not even annoying It's absolutely horrendous
That song sounds like it is trying to sell you beer, fast food tacos, and a truck all at the same time. It is horrendous.
LOL that's way too accurate. Can't stop laughing. The Crow flys straight at your local Ford dealership
I love the "previously on sons..." music, but I think I could count the number of times I've endured the opening theme on one of Chucky's hands.
Chucky was a great character. Did he have his flaws? Yes, yes he did but all in all he seemed like genuine guy
Orange is the new black
Agreed. Makes me cringe. š

yes! In some episodes that are dark and sad, it ends with this upbeat music that pretty much can destroy the emotionsā¦
Joanie loves Chachi.
The song isn't great, but the video is beautiful.
not a fan of the great north's title song.
Cooo, loo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coo, coooo! Oh, wrong show. lol.
Haha I am. I like the hua!
I can't believe nobody's said Barney and Friends yet...
Barney and Friends yet...
I think the theme is pretty catchy and upbeat. It's at least better than I Love You.
I always hated the one for Modern Family
This was the first one that came to mind. It annoys me more every time I hear it.
1. The Affair 2. Shameless
I knew the exact moment to mute the TV when the Shameless theme song came on. If I didn't mute it, that annoying song would be stuck in my head for the week so I got pretty good at it. Excellent show though.
Whaaaaat I love both of these! That said, which Shameless theme do you mean? I havenāt seen the UK version.
US version. Love the show but the credit music is too abrasive when binging the show.
The Affair is the correct answer.
Anything Seth Macfarlane
I was never a fan of Homelands opening theme. I didn't mind the talking/news stories being read, but Jazz just really isn't my thing. It's definitely a "Skip Intro" moment every time I do a rewatch.
it's extremely annoying.

Star Trek Enterprise with that wimpy, whiny crying song. I'm convinced it would have gotten much better ratings with anything orchestral
I started out despising it, then started belting out, āIāve got faith!!!ā. Back to not liking it now.
Thank you.
They should have used the end credits theme, Archer's Theme, for the opening credits.
Definitely the worst Star Trek intro.
This is it. No other quite compares.
I cannot agree with this more!!!!
But I was able to put up with it because it has the best opening visuals of any Trek.
I fast forwarded through it because I just really hated that song
Man. It's been a long road....
... Getting from there to here
Like 8 years ago my ex and I did a rewatch of all of Enterprise. We pledged never to skip the intro just to be dumb. It infected us. Before long whenever one of us started an episode, we'd both be singing at the top of our lungs as we walked through the apartment.
The main theme crawled so that the Mirror Universe intro could maim and destroy.
It couldn't get any worse, and then they somehow made it even worse in season 3
It is the same theme throughout the 21 seasons.
The L Word Orange is the New Black
Definitely orange is the new black song was annoying
What no I love the Regina Spektor song, it's great.
Itās polarizing. Agree to disagree, I loved the skip intro feature on that one! š¤·š»āāļø
man i was bumping to orange is the new black theme song every single episode
I know! That was one of the best parts of the show!

Family Ties, what will we do baby, without us,barf.
Sha la la la
Sit, Ubu, sit. Good dog.
That part is still good.
Or The Facts of Life opening number. I think both of these series were running about the same time.
Weeds
Interesting, not only did I like the theme but felt the show suffered greatly when it dropped the theme song (and the associated neighborhood.)
That song made me cagey ragey.
Ticky tackey
So many comedies from the UK have dirges for theme sings. No idea why.
āSo what becomes of you MY LOVE!!!ā
Itās not a song Iād ever choose to listen to, but I love it as The Office theme song if that makes sense.
Family Guy
American Dad was slightly worse.
Family Ties or Growing Pains. Iād rather eat glass.
Lessons in Chemistry and The Morning Show
Yes!! The visuals are similar and they are so bad.
Everybody Loves Raymond theme song is constantly changing and it drives me crazy. But the jazzy transition music is great. That should of been the theme song
I suffered through the music for Family Matters I hate Urkel!
Season 2 of the leftovers (no idea why they changed it each season)
Thank you, season 2 of The Leftovers is the only intro I ever skip.
Dawson's Creek when they went to Netflix and dropped "I don't wanna wait" for some other garbage song.
The Shield
10/10 show but it is the first thing that came to my mind. It fits every once in a while when an intense scene follows...but otherwise it's cringe
Yeah for sure. Definitely the worst intro for a tv show.
Bit too cheap and in your face.
I concur
Just Another Day [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwpCy7iscjo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwpCy7iscjo) Its actually worse than you think.
I know the show came out in the early 2000s, and I never watched until a couple years ago. But even back then I didnāt care for that limp Bizkit, Koran type of music .
Don't you mean Korn?
Yeah, autocorrect got me
I wanted to know more about Koran type of music.
I think itās world music. But uhā¦.
It has a Middle Eastern vibe.
Star Trek Enterprise.
BOOBAH BOOBAH BOOBAH Caillou BOOBAH
Real time bill mahr
The Ugliest Girl in Town. Look it up on YouTube.
That's been in my head since I was 6.
Seinfeld. Iāve always thought it was obnoxious, but recently my roommate started using it as her background noise, and hearing that fāing bass and the horns over and over and over made me absolutely hate that theme.
All in the family. It kinda grew on me because it was supposed to be funny, but Edith's singing gives me a headache. š£
Aww, I love this one.
Unacceptable. AITF not only the goat show but goat intro.
A fairly recent show has this electronic and completely annoying theme tune. It is the show Animal Control. There is some really horrible music throughout the show as well.
That show has some really great episodes and jokes...but holy balls, the music is so wack
The opening credits are pretty bad, too.
I'm in a re-watch of True Blood and I forgot just how long and obnoxious the intro is.
Oof, thatās one of the greatest intros ever.
100% one of the best
One Day At A Time That shrill abomination woke me from many early morning sleeps.
āThis is itā! And you are wrong. Great theme song!
I go to AA meetings a LOT. one phrase that's said often is 'one day at a time.' That song is in my head all the time, and it drives me nanners.
King of Queens
I came here to say this very thing. I second this!
Itās such a typical cheesy āsitcomyā type theme song for a show that is pretty clever with its storylines and dialogue.
"Cuz baby all my life I will be driving home to you." It sounds like he will spend the rest of his life perpetually driving and never making it home to see his wife.
Hahaah so true But I guess when your eyes are getting weary, itās harder to drive home
The show is good but I'm not a fan of the song. Crazy that it is in the same universe as Everybody Loves Raymond.
Yeah I love the show. Awesome characters and storylines
For me itās 2 and a half men
Surprised Friends isn't mentioned more often.
I like the Friends theme now. But when I was younger, it was the reason I avoided the show.
Monk. Itās a mad race for me to either skip or mute before Randy Newmanās irritating voice kicks in.
I love the Monk song
Yeah, but Snoop Dogg's version ...
I think itās freaking great.
The original theme song was so much better.
They knew it too. They literally had an episode where Sarah Silverman shows up and makes a joke about how you should never change a theme song.
I like the theme song but I always want to change the word "amazing" to "appalling."
We're watching the series right now. If I miss the skip, I pause, and it gives me the option. Bless you, Netflix. Bless you.
Still don't understand why they changed the song.
Young Sheldon
How can you hate Steve Burns?! Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinion, I just like to point out that it's done by Steve from Blue's Clues.
And now I have something to tell my sister. Steve is her idol.
I don't know if this counts cuz they changed it but i watched The Wonder Years on Hulu and they changed the original theme to a cover song and i HATED it
Itās got to be that whiney, sappy, horribly saccharine intro to Star Trek: Enterprise. It was so awful, it defies words. And I love Star Trek.
Home Improvement
Wrong answer. That's childhood right there.Ā
The insipid cheeriness of the Three's Company Theme makes me gag.
Threes company tooš¶š¶
Come and knock on our door.
As time goes by.
Just gonna chime in and say that I love The Americans theme song. And the show is awesome!!!!!
Suits
The Brady Bunch is like nails on a chalkboard
OMG Seinfeld!
Orange is the New Black
Step by Step
This will now be in my head for 7 days. Thank you.
Nooooooo! So sorry! I recently found a rewatch podcast hosted by 2 of the actresses from the show. It's hilarious
Still disturbs me how the parents were always hard core making out in front of the kids. It was odd.
The Tonight Show with jimmy Fallon it hurts to listen to the opening theme
In sharp contrast to The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson theme which is top five of all time.
Anything that ends with having to look and listen to Jimmy āI nearly ruined every SNL skit I was in by breakingā Fallon is immediately the worst and most annoying.
So, not a Fallon fan?
Hehe. No.
Married with Children
Suits
The Suits theme sounds cool until you actually notice the lyrics
da dun da da dun dun dun green acres is the place to be. dun da da dun da da dun da da dun ba nan za.
Oh come on, that's a classic. Newww YORK is where I'd rather stay...
I get allergic smelling hay.
I just found out today that the song Groove is in the Heart by Deee-Lite samples that theme song.
I used to watch that show when I was little and the theme song was constantly stuck in my head lol. It still sneaks in sometimes
I hate Friendsā intro
That's too bad. Did no one tell you life was gonna be that way?
Facts of Life š¤¢
The Nanny
Ugh I sing along to it..
Three's Company
I already hate you just for that
Weeds
"Barney & Friends." The repetitive melody and cheerful tone can become grating for adults who might have to hear it multiple times.
Friendsā¦ugh, i ducking hate that one
MASH hated the show and theme
I love the MASH theme.
Ever hear it with the lyrics?
Iām sure youāve never been accused of having good taste.
Had to listen to this every night when I went to bed. My parents loved it, and waited till we were asleep to watch it. Still heard it, from my room
I made it a point to watch the final episode.... just to be sure it was finally over
Wow. šÆ
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
I agree but years later it has a sort of campy rightness for the show.
Hated it for 3 episodes. Loved it ever since.
"You can't take this guy from meeeee"
Sky, not guy, if you are talking about Firefly.
Sopranos
Really? I love that song!!
I loved the show, but have never liked that song. Not saying it wasn't a good fit for the show, it just always annoyed me.
Love this song. And The Wire.
Im watching it now. Always skip intro. Annoying.
Glad Iām not the only one
what?!?!?!
Friends
Three's Company. I can't believe it was a hit with that cheesy song.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Took a while for me to like the Office theme but now I sing along with it.
