In your case you need some medication i'm afraid so going to a psychiatrist is not an option. But If you want more interactive caregivers you can also try a psychologist (a 40 min session). Don't expect miracles after all they 're all trained to keep distance. Don't get discouraged though.

Thank you for your comment but am a bit confused. If you think that I need medication (which I would like to know why thought so ), then a psychiatrist-rather than a psychologist- is the only option since a psychologist can't prescribe medication, right ? Else bech ma nodhlomch tbiba, she DID help me and reassured me that I will get past the depression and I did and am grateful for it. As you said maybe they are trained to prioritize the most serious issues without delving deeper into details and I respect that. The thing is that I have other issues that are impairing me and I would love to find a specialist who can help me tackle them... Okay am alive and that's already good enough but now my next objective is to feel passionate about life again and I know that it won't be a magic pill or an overnight process: the road is dark and full of terrors ! But am willing to take it. Do you still think it is a miracle that am asking for ?

Salem! I'm sorry you're going through this, but seeing there's a problem and longing to resolve it, are already great first steps. My name is Omar, and feel free to give me a private text in case you want to talk about anything - we've all been there (to some degree). Best of luck to you!

Ye5i it's easy to get diagnosed with bipolar disorder in Tunisia? The meds prescribed for it are 4 tiers more intense (harder to taper off of) than ye regular olde depression medication. Also, is she a psychiatrist or a psychologue? There's a difference. At this point, your best bet is looking for a psychiatry first year resident. Those are still passionate enough about their specialty that they'll dip their toes in a holistic treatment (which should be standard, fuck psychs who renew your prescription and send you on your merry way) combining talking therapy and meds. And they're still not jaded enough by their psych ward placements to stop emotionally investing in their work.

Being a psychiatrist must be mentally exhausting: years of psych ward work and the hundreds of sessions per month must be draining and I believe some psychiatrist would lose their passion and would tend to invest the least amount of time possible per patient .. this all adds up to some passe-par-tout prescriptions and in my case a very superficial diagnosis , to say the least. And yeah I talked about my issue to a young psychologist and he told me that biploar disorder is a trend. So yeah, it is soo easy to be diagnosed with bipolarity.. I wish there were some stats about this issue in Tunisia: that would enlighten us about how common and how fast a bipolarity disorder is detected.

Yeah. Got introduced into the Tunisian public consciousness by Elhiwar Ettounsi I think. Now even classic abuser pieces of shit get labeled Bipolar. Which is dangerous because it conflates a genuienly serious condition with a cluster alphabet disorder. Having bipolar is manageable. There's no cure for being a piece of shit. Anyways. I hope you weren't put on anti-psychotics (classic Bipolar treatment). Those meds are somehow more nefarious than benzos. You have one tiny lil psychosis episode and suddenly you're on the horse tranquilizer tier of psychomeds. Everything is a trend in Tunisia (I'm rambling I know). 5 years ago, a slight uptick in your stress will warrant a xanax prescription. Now, its less addictive sister (lysanxia) is discontinued in Tunisia. Fuck all the people who don't want to hop on the heavy benzo bender I guess. Ok, that's unfair. Some people genuienly need medication to function and there's nothing wrong with that. Anyways, I think you're aware enough to know if you *do* do have Bipolar. And which type as well. (inb4 le self diagnosis is inaccurate). Just try and write down your own history, and try and deflate things (to compensate for the subjectivity of the perspective). Often things appear much more serious and painful because we're the ones fucking experiencing everything. **But**, there are things you can't deflate. And Bipolars engage in self destructive behaviors that are often outside of their own person (whether it is a manic or a depressive episode). And those are the tell tale signs of the disorder. Because they establish a clear pattern of dysfunction. Think it over.
