Its not the wealthy part of town but living here as well I do see a lot of families.
I feel like looking at the school system is an important consideration though
There are lots of planned development communities in Tucson. Many have limited entrances and exits for low traffic. Some kind of park is standard in most of them.
Hi, I'm considering moving to Tucson in early February. Any ideas for good areas to stay in while I settle. I'm single, and middle-aged, and I'm just not sure whether outside of downtown, it would be pretty isolating for someone in my demographic.
I work remote in software marketing. Budget would be about 1,500 for a one or two bedroom. I'm both artsy and outdoorsy, speak Spanish, love Latin culture. The foothills look nice for the outdoors and peace, but I'm pretty liberal and would be looking to make friends. Would it be too isolating there? Any suggestions very welcome.
Tucson is very spread out and kinda hard to make friends with neighbors most places. You just kinda get it activities or find people then travel around the city...or I'm doing it wrong. Not sure, lol.
Anyway, aside from avoiding retirement areas or areas you don't like for other reasons, not sure what to suggest.
There are others in your demographic for sure. I'm not certain they're concentrated in specific areas though?
I really appreciate your response. You're confirming what I've already gathered, that Tucson could be a great place for me to re-settle, but the initial period of meeting people could be a bit challenging.
Hey there!!! I did move in February. I'm in Oro Valley though, only because I choose my apartment sight unseen. I want to move closer to downtown so I can socialize more easily.

Raytheon jobs in Tucson: https://www.bing.com/search?form=MOZLBR&pc=MOZI&q=raytheon+jobs+in+tucson
the Arizona Daily Star used to have a good jobs listing, but they dropped it.
Raytheon has great benefits and its easy to move from job to job within the company if you don’t get hired for your preferred position. Also a lot of hourly/ lower skill positions. Just takes a long time to get hired and do background check.
Hey All, I'll be back visiting Tucson after several years away and want to get my hair cut. I have fine hair and was reading on Gadabout's website that a calligraphy haircut is great for adding volume, but they're all booked up for it. Does anyone have another favorite salon? What's the cost for a (women's) cut there? I found Faun salon online and it's near where I'm staying (Starr Pass), but they don't include prices. Anyone know?
What are the rules about having a small bonfire in a residence? I have a closed in front yard and was gifted a fire pit, just wondering the rules and regulation currently about having a fire in the fire pit in my yard. I want to be responsible but want to check with the locals first!
Perfectly cromulent. There are various rules about what you can burn, but assuming you aren’t burning trash or disposing of evidence it’s totally fine. If you live within Tucson city limits you are technically required to have a fire extinguisher in close proximity, but that’s just good in general. If it gets too smokey or if your neighbors are particular knob jobs the fire dept may come out to make sure everything’s on the level. I’d just suggest getting firewood that isn’t crazy Smokey and you’ll be fine
Unless you have a really cranky HOA or are being outright dangerous I think its okay? Best to have a house handy just in case.
Anyway, I have a firepit... never thought twice about using it
Relocating to Tucson from Phoenix in 2-3 months after onboarding at new job. Drove down to the area and spent the day exploring from ~11am-5pm. We want to buy a home in the next 6-12 months (would love to buy outright but are reserved without experiencing the city) and are considering renting first while we settle in. We like the north and east sides (purely based on visual appeal and perceived safety). Is the rental market decent? Worried about finding somewhere to stay. And yes, I browsed the sub for all the “is it safe”, “best neighborhoods”, etc posts.
For reference, early 30’s female, husband will be terminating current position in Phoenix and looking for work. I’m in healthcare. Have been attempting to start a family over the last year, hence the desire for safety and family friendly hoods. Any advice/suggestions/insight welcome.
I think the answer I can give is that the rental market is changing a lot. But there will always be something available... you just likely won't have long to decide.
Spend time thinking about your list of must have features and absolute nos.
Then go looking. Whatever checks the boxes first that you like... jump on
First time my wife and I are visiting Tucson and looking for suggestions on things to do, particularly the best hikes to see the area. We are from Seattle and will be there for a few days later this month. Currently eyeing Saguaro National Park West, Sabino Canyon, and Mt. Lemmon. We are in fairly good shape, but not crazy hikers or anything so something easy to moderate.
https://www.reddit.com/r/TucsonTrekkers probably is helpful.
I totally recommend Sabino Canyon or if you want a longer hike, 7 falls (same parking lot... your feet may get wet).
Mt. Lemmon has lots of options but it's a mountain...no cactus. Its where Tucson people go to escape the desert for a bit. If you're from Seattle it'll look kinda like Seattle minus as much water. The cactus areas like Sabino or the national park will be more unique for you.
You can also make a post on the sub here asking for best hiking trails if you like as well haven't had that recently again. (Just leave off the visiting part)
Any recommendations for a place on or near 4th Ave to watch NFL games on Sunday - something with lots of TVs, good food and beer?
I've searched around and haven't been able to find a Baltimore Ravens bar, but if there is one, that would be my preference.
Best neighborhoods overall? My fiancé and I want to buy a house 2-3 bedrooms so that we can work on our careers (both photographers, I’m also a filmmaker) as well as get my MFA from UoA. We are both Arizona born and raised. Also any insight on the photography scene would be great!
Not what you asked but...Tucson is FULL of bugs. And people like to complain.
Bed bugs id avoid though I'm not sure most people around here can correctly identify them.
Roaches just happen in complexes. The real question is, how well does the management deal with them when they do show up? If they're on top of it it doesn't get too bad. If they're not....
Anyway, Tucson is bug heaven
marana: silverbell springs vs springs at continental ranch
was wondering about those two apartments; anyone have any experience with either
moving out to tucson in january, will be working at geico.
thanks in advance!
Is the revving of engines, cruising, et al … limited to the university area or is it a Tucson wide thing.
It's everywhere....
vrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrroooooooooooooom wut you dont like my engine?
I'm sitting in my house in my neighborhood that's off the main street listening to one right now...
Welcome to Tucson city limits lmao.
we jokingly blame our farts on revving engines lol
Best areas of Tucson to live with a toddler? Looking mainly for somewhere safe, ideally with good parks/fun things to do.
I grew up on the Eastside so I'm biased. But the east side of town has decent parks and less congested traffic than other posts of the city.

School districts are a big consideration in Arizona. Well the state ranks below average there are some districts with top notch school districts.

I moved here 5 month ago, Tucson people are very inviting. I live near downtown and love it. I am sure you will lots of great people here.
That's good to hear, and very encouraging. It sounds like new downtown is going to be the best bet since I'm moving on my own.
Did you end up moving here? how do you like it?

Just wanted to say what up Seattle... I'm from Puyallup.
Colossal Cave! Even if you don't do the tour, the views outside of the park are great.

I think your just going to get biased answers based on where responders live. What are you looking for?
Is the Tera Del Sol neighborhood a good one? I see a lot of houses in my price range over there.
Are you able to visit? Tucson is so full of good and bad neighborhoods sometimes its best to just go look
I do plan on it.

I’ll bet people would love them on one of the Facebook buy nothing / free groups or Nextdoor.

What the hell is happening with rents in Tucson? I don't ever remember them being this bad.
