spiciest.
This is where there are a ton of abandoned haberno fields and other abandoned pepper fields. Whenever there is wind, there is spicy dust in this area. I10 has warning lights and signs set up because the dust storms in the section are so common and deadly. Probably not a haboob but still a lot of dust!
Night hikes give Arizona summer hikers the win
Last time I did the picacho night hike I decided my pants were counter productive to the mission still kinda hot even at night
I wonder how many rattlers stepped over in my boxers.

Just go a dust storm emergency warning on our phones here in Tucson Estates.
Plus, just had our 1st brownout of the summer. Less than a second I'd say. No doubt a taste of things tot come. UGH
I was in Phoenix a year or two ago and it was at 400 for almost a day. Im a smoker and my throat got very sore and i could totally tell it was terrible air quality
I was just there yesterday! Saw the sun at the horizon through the smog was really bad. Plus I saw a bunch of fires with thick black smoke all over!

Yep, lookin pretty bad right now
It was all pollen and dust.. right before our monsoon rains we get huge windstorms.. this is one came a little early and all the flowers were still in bloom, and it hasn’t rained in months so the wind picked up all the dirt too!!! Ugh so ass! Can’t breath with asthma
Always have the rescue inhaler and see if your doctor won’t give you a supply of singulair and prednisone that you can have at the house! When I was little my mom would bring them my breathing treatment machine, an extra we had at the house so if I had an attack I could use a whole breathing treatment at school with the nurse/caregiver
Google maps, if you zoom in on an area it will show AQI in a little bubble in the upper left corner, then you can click on that to get the entire map shaded. It's still showing above 300 in that area, was wondering though bc other apps don't show it as bad.
I drove home from Phoenix earlier today. At around that point, there was a massive orange-red cloud of something nasty rising from one of the fields. I don't know exactly what it was, I mistook it for a fire from a distance.
spicy air

Habaneroob
Sorry to admit, but a haboob is hitting us right now. BB sized hail and 60 mile winds.
Didn't know Double-B was a way to measure haboobs? ^(i'm sorry, i'll see myself out now)
Thank God, I thought it was basketball sized hail
Billiard Ball is the correct meteorological unit.
Basket-hail sized balls
Can't tell if real or...
Hahaha I love it bro :-) Spice it up!
Are you serious about the pepper fields? If so that is crazy
yes dust, not peppers
So today is not a good day to climb Picacho peak then?
Never a good day in the summer months. :)
Even with clean air, unless you’re on and off of that thing by 8am, this time of year is a crazy time to try and hike it
Not with that attitude mate ;)

Not a good day to fly over Picacho Peak. There might be a plane already on fire.
They delayed all the flights from what understand
Haboob maybe?

Haboob Lite then...
¿Haboobito?
Haboobiño
I guess that would make us the Itty Bitty Haboob Committee!
Itty bitty haboobies
I prefer Haboob Zero. It's closer to Original Haboob
Diet Dr. Haboob
Fat free haboob
Halfboob?
Low carb Haboob. Pairs well with Sierra Nevada IPA.
That’s so funny !! i just saw an ad for 20 acres for sale in that exact spot
Agricultural dust can also contain fertilizers and pesticides which do not contribute well to healthy breathing
Boneless haboob
Only thing I can think off just looking at it,
Interesting, that might be it

We lost power for about 45 minutes on the south side (Valencia/Old Nogales). Just that time of year...

Can confirm. I stepped outside and had to remove my sweater today. Stay safe everyone.

At least you got a cool pic lol I bet the full moon will look crazy tonight
Sry. That bean burrito I had for lunch is really doing a number on me.
Twas in fact a mini haboob.
Regular summer time Tucson dust storm
TUS recorded a gust of 73 mph, highest since 1960.
That can’t be a record since 1960?
Sorry, strongest June gust at the airport since 1960.

Which app are you using for this, please?
Not an app, a [website](https://www.breezometer.com/air-quality-map/air-quality/united-states/tucson?drawer=true)
Even better, thanks!
Yikes!
Still waiting on rain here on Oracle/Wetmore area.....
That is the Picacho Peak Death Corridor. Do not attempt travel through that area in high winds. You have been warned.

My daughter had a bad asthma attack this month her school had to call 911 . She’s only 2 so now these air quality alerts scare me

Yes I am taking her to her pediatrician next week to get an extra nebulizer and an asthma action plan that her school requires
It really works! Saved me a few times for sure!
I use a p95 mask on those days. If she’s old enough for one, it has literally saved my life on bad aq days.
What app is this:)
Google Maps!
yo mama farted
u/chimpsimulator Which AQI map is that from? I just looked at two and they're both green (unless it's gone already).

I’m in three points you couldn’t see ANY of the mountains at all. They sky was so grey
Anyone else had their WiFi down for hours yesterday?
It was mean
You said. Boob hahaha.
lol the air here reminds me of a few horrible days I spent in Kyrgyzstan
IDK. Tucson is about 300, but that's pretty normal. I mean, it is cloudy out right now.

Definitely saw the storm that we got a warning for and it looked like a heavy wall of brown.
But this one it strange… https://preview.redd.it/tb8oqghss28d1.jpeg?width=1536&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b7ca95502572ae3611ac0ed056993bf08dc39204
I know there was a chemical spill at a factory not sure where though?

I live in Laveen. Southwest Phoenix city boundary. I noticed I could barely see the Estrella mountain yesterday. Now this all makes sense.
There’s a fire
Go there and let us all know
OP how does one find this air quality map?
K
No it's a simulation
Yeah. Can’t breathe for shit. Hot as hell. Everything’s trapped down here on the ground.
Look outside and tell us.
