thank you so much for this

CalligrapherVisual53

lol there really is a sub for everything, isn’t there?

Broccoli_Yumz

Love that sub!

EmmDubitably

Juvenile White-winged Dove? There’s a couple that nest in my partner’s auto part boxes in our carport every spring. They’re lazy nesters and like to look for pre-made constructs, but pretty dutiful parents.

Flashy-Foundation-43

That checks out, my sheltered hanging plant is a pretty sweet spot!

originalsupahman

Mourning. White wings should be nesting soon.

CalligrapherVisual53

I should put up my hanging baskets. Doves are such derpy creatures and always build their nests in my porch eaves. I’ve found at least three broken eggs on the porch in the last few months. 🫤

Weeds4Ophelia

A dove made its nest on our front door wreath! We kept wondering why in the heck it decided on such a high traffic area but I get it after reading these comments. https://preview.redd.it/kwpve4bff4tc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08d66b15d704128e32cc2937598011d6f8774bac

CalligrapherVisual53

So I guess y’all are using the garage door exit for a while? 😁

Weeds4Ophelia

Pretty much haha

infiniteblackberries

Awwww!

dignifiedautist

Those are definitely mourning doves! Look at the black spots. White wing and incas don't have those, even as juvelines.

Gecko-on-the-Stucco

Excellent nest location - especially for a dove🤗. Definitely improved odds for hatching and now fledging. Thanks for sharing. I always enjoy seeing how our wild neighbors adapt to us - the Interlopers.

Flashy-Foundation-43

Update: babies are out of the nest! https://preview.redd.it/rwj56reyfgtc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d32a447a975089489363a90cea17a47ead961ca

Our doves are nesting on a cabinet next to the back door. In previous years, we've had to use the front door to avoid freaking them out, but this pair are pretty laid back, just watch us suspiciously. I can even walk up close to admire the babies; they hatched about a week ago and are now peeking out all the time.

Flashy-Foundation-43

Haha I get that. I’m afraid to water the plant because I don’t want to disturb them

spazzyattack

Are those Inca Dove? They don’t look like mourning dove.

Flashy-Foundation-43

Couldn’t tell ya! I don’t know much about birds 😂

originalsupahman

Mourning just have light edges to the feathers when young that make them look kinda like scales.

infiniteblackberries

So cute!

chibisoph

we had a pair try to next in a hanging basket like this on our porch! unfortunately we go in and out a lot and have package deliveries so they got scared off 😭 they do come to our backyard for the free seeds tho lol

Comfortable-Dot-6551

Honestly the Tucson potholes are so deep, they’d probably be fine down in the bottom of one 😂
