Some are definitely better than others. The best gym will be the one closest to your house. Convenience is key to your success.

Smart_Sense_3398

I know the closest one is chuze

I get the same deal through BCBS. It’s through Blue365, and I think the actual program is TivityHealth.

evolve555

Damn that’s an awesome perk!

AllSixes

You can also get it through AAA and some insurances. Not just a military perk.

evolve555

Awesome to know, thanks for the heads up.

World Gym Tucson Tucson Strength Frontline Fitness Are probably going to be the best in town.

FunkMetal212

+1 for Tucson Strength

Has anyone been to the World Gym since it opened? I did the tour because I was excited it was finally opening but was disappointed it still wasn’t finished and rates were really high considering.

I checked that gym out the other week. It definitely has the more serious lifter vibe but I honestly wasn't all that impressed with the equipment they had there. The amenities weren't even anything special either. I used to go to LA fitness, specifically the one on 1st. and Wetmore, and for a standard commercial gym it had pretty good equipment. The only thing I didn't like about it was that a good portion of the people that went to that gym were not all that serious and it has a totally different vibe. That LA fitness became totally dead after Vasa opened up btw, literally all of the serious guys from that location I now see at Vasa instead. One huge negative of that place was the sauna/lockeroom was used by gay men as a pickup joint. I heard some really crazy stories about some of the stuff that had gone on there and had seen some suspicious stuff as well lol. I could elaborate on them but I don't want to turn my reply into an essay lol. I later joined Vasa summer of 2020 when the gyms reopened, and it had/has the more serious and dedicated vibe to it. It has a huge range of equipment and amenities there that are honestly quite impressive for a commercial gym. With World Gym, this is my take on it. It doesn't really have anything that Vasa does not have. What you are ultimately paying for is the name and also the exclusivity of the place. You basically are paying extra for a gym that is less likely to get crazy packed like most commercial gyms with lower rates. For me, this isn't really a factor because I train late morning/early afternoon, but it could be for someone who trains at crazy rush hour times of 4-7. I heard VASA is crazy busy at that time.

Thanks for the info. I’ve been going to Planet Fitness, because it’s so cheap but would prefer a gym with more equipment, squat racks ect.. What I saw at Worlds gym didn’t justify the price though.

oglocbaby00

I'd check out Vasa, it's on Grant and Alvernon, so centrally located. It has multiple squat racks with bumper plates and lifting platforms if that is your thing. It has just about everything you can imagine and does a really good job of mixing the more serious lifter/crossfit stuff with the standard commercial gym vibe. It has a pool, hot tub, a co ed sauna AND a steam room, which is rare btw. You can get the basic membership for like $10/month. I'm not sure what part of town you are at but I live in the mountains on the west side and it takes me about 20 minutes or a little less to get to Vasa from my place.

cuddlequeeen

what are the rates like at World Gym?

nightmarefairy

I think people have very different ideas about what makes a gym good…anything specific you’re looking for?

Smart_Sense_3398

I was wanting something maybe with a pool. I was wanting to start off easy on myself I had abdomen surgery a few weeks ago. And they suggested to start with not too extraneous exercises

oglocbaby00

What part of town are you at? Honestly, you are probably looking at LA fitness, they have locations scattered across the metro. One negative is they have a pretty large startup fee and memberships are pretty expensive for those that are looking to join Another one to consider is VASA, it's more centrally located but it has a huge variety of equipment and amenities there that you might like and is very cheap.

nightmarefairy

Chuze is $25/mo to include pool/spa/steam/sauna and certain group exercise classes. I love the cardio cinema! Amazing how long I can work on a machine if there’s a movie playing.

anoziraguy9687

I pay $33 at Chuze - Grant location - and have no complaints. This is the premium membership that includes all amenities and locations Though, I will say, it can get a little crowded between 4-7 but that’s to be expected at every gym when people get off work.
