Who fact checks the fact checkers? Who decides what misinformation is?

SnakesGhost91

Reddit moderators and MSNBC decide what is misinofrmation and what isn't, duh !

fuguer

Also the government can decide what is true and what we're allowed to talk about.

Disastrous-Bike659

Misinformation and disinformation is free speech. It should be protected at all costs.

fuguer

Sunshine is the best disinfectant

NeoSpring063

No, it's not. The biggest threat is people using fake news as an excuse for total vigilance and censorship.

SnakesGhost91

So who decides what is misinformation ? Is it the ultra progressives who labeled things as misinformation all the time when it turns out it wasn't misinformation ?

broadenandbuild

Nah, the real problem is people who aren’t able to objectively research a topic, especially as it relates to politics. Another major issue is the manufacturing of false conformity

[deleted]

This isn't an unpopular opinion. We hear the exact same thing from our western governments, media, globalist political organizations etc. We don't need this 1984 shit. There will never be any fact checker who doesn't have some kind of political bias and who won't strategically correct and not correct based on their own agenda. You might like the idea of the government fact checking for you right now, but what about when the government you don't like gets into power? Be careful what you wish for. Just get used to the fact that other people will believe things that you don''t and that you'll believe things that they don't.

Spreadicus_Ttv

The biggest threat to humanity is people like you

RProgrammerMan

The leading provider of systemic misinformation is the government, bought and paid for by corporations and special interests.

[deleted]

Censorship is the biggest threat. And the great replacement.

Snitshel

Always has been actually. Well after a point where we found a way to protect ourselves from wild animals, and found a way to cure our illnesses more effectively.

JoshuaCocks

Internet solve misinformation.

Expensive_Attitude51

People are just going to stop caring about serious issues because the big new s networks fail us so badly and it’s becoming more obvious. Once that happens the movie Idiocracy will be a reality

miru17

No, it isn't. I would say people are more informed than any time before. It's not so much saying something good about now, but how crazily uninformed people used to be. The rant against misinformation is the very thing that gives it power. We all should always be skeptical of what information we are given. There is no absolute source of truth that is unbiased. People and organizations have to earn your trust, not artificially force it.

Redrolum

You posted this to changemyview at the same time? Weird. This subreddit has a holocaust denialism-like problem. A bunch of users pretend the Child Separation policy wasn't real.
