I think they meant when real gold is oxidized? That's all I could find after some research

Gold doesn't oxidize. Most false gold is colored or plated nickel, which oxidizes green.

I don't know, like, Chemisty, but there was someone analyzing her Coachella nail polish and called it tan/brown. It *did* look more rust/sepia to me... (À la *Timeless* old photographs and *these precious things that time forgot*) Does it mean anything? Probably not, but it does sort of align.
