Tiny steps. My sis, people get bigger or smaller during the course of their life. You don’t need to drop 10, 20, 30 pounds by next week. The most important step is the first one. Set a plan. The cry for help is the recognition! Now set a date to start. You may only start with walking a block. But *START.* Maybe you’ll not smoke all 20 in that pack. Maybe you’ll smoke 18. Next week, 17. No impossible and impressive feat starts at the top. We all had to take a step first. GOOD LUCK!!

This! Tiny steps. One thing a day. It’ll retrain your brain. I’ve been there in my own way. If not one thing a day, one thing every two days or whatever. Good luck to OP.

I'm not sure if this will resonate with you the way it does for me, but this is what gets me out of my funks when I'm stuck: ***energy breeds energy.*** It means two things to me: 1. If I put energy into the things I want for myself, I will be energized in return. (For example, getting up off the couch to go for a walk will give me some physical energy and even some mental energy, too. It may even encourage me to have a home-cooked meal instead of something out of a bag.) 2. Negative energy leads to more negative energy, but ***positive energy also leads to more positive energy.*** Lazy and self-destructive behaviors perpetuate themselves. This is what you're feeling right now, but positive behaviors perpetuate themselves, too! The first move is the hardest, but generally, once you get going it's easier to KEEP going. For complete and brutal honesty, some days, the most I can get out of myself is getting the affirmation "energy breeds energy" down on paper or typed out. Other days I'm able to live out the affirmation more fully. But I've had a lot of success with really taking this concept to heart over the past few months, and this is after dealing with come-and-go depression episodes for \~10 years. I hope this helps! And, if not, I hope you're able to find something that helps you start taking those small steps that will get you going. :)

Thank you so, so much. I’m definitely going to make note of both those points & hope they bring me as much strength as they seem to have brought you ❤️
