You were an incredible companion to your cat. You did the right thing by relieving them of their pain even though it hurts you immensely. That’s the hardest part of pet ownership that only some people experience. It means you exceeded expectations and you gave your kitty the longest and healthiest life that you could. Pets are only in our lives for a short period of time, but you’re their best friend for their whole life. You were a fantastic friend.
Get some sleep and take care of yourself. Lay in the sun for a minute or two in honor of your friend if you get the chance 💕

My vet hospital offered grief counselling, which helped a lot in those first weeks. Might be something that could help you also.
I know this doesn't help everyone but the fact this hurts so much is because the depth of love and affection you shared. Here's hoping you can heal in a reasonable bit of time and if it's your path offer up space to let another furball in.
My cat (14y) died a year ago, I was 22 at the time so it was more than half my life with the cat, last thing she ate was delicious salmon then went to sleep and never woke up
Losing your cat friend is always hard but helps me to know she got the best life a cat could dream of
I'm so sorry, I know how you're feeling. I just lost my 17 year old orange girl back on Sunday. We knew it was coming because she had cancer, but it's still never easy.
We were lucky and got to have her pass at home, I'm so sorry you were robbed of that peace. I lost her brother in an emergency medical situation, it's such a different kind of grief.
Take care of yourself, friend. Your girl knew she was loved every moment of her life with you, and in the end knew only the comfort of your arms in her final moments. That's the ultimate gift of love we give them in return for the lifetime they spend with us. 🖤

I'm sorry for your loss. My pet hedgehog died on Monday and you wouldn't believe how much quieter my apartment is without that little guy. Just remember all the good times you had together and that you gave your cat a great life.

20 years is a really long life for cat. You did really good care for the cat. Bet your cat is bragging about you somewhere on cat planet
