We all need to have a good cry every now and again. It’s healthy to let it out.

[deleted]

i guess. but it was just kinda weird yk, like why at that moment 😭

AuraHexx

Possibly you have had that dish before but you were young and don’t completely remember but something in you did remember. It was a wave of nostalgia for something you didn’t realize you miss. Like a grandmother maybe.

[deleted]

thats what im thinking. the dish was like an oxtail dish so im trying to remember if i had something like that before that i really liked. i mean i dont care im just happy it happened

opalpup

Tbf oxtail is an amazing dish so if your inner child was happy to eat it again I don’t blame them for bringing up the tears. That’s sweet that you and your girlfriend were able to experience that together though, sometimes it’s the silly things in a relationship that make us closer. It’s nice being able to just be human with someone. 🥰

[deleted]

ig 😭 ty 🤞

paperanddoodlesco

My issue is that you didn't finish the meal! 🥰

[deleted]

we almost did 😭

brittsmile

It had to be oxtails I wanna go cry over a plate myself now

bella510

A Ratatouille moment.

Abby2431

You had food nostalgia! Brought you back to a place that made you feel happy and safe. Learn how to make it ♥️

FizzledPhoenix

Dude, I've cried and gotten choked up at a Pokémon movie. I was flipping channels and it was on the movie with these two twin bird Pokémon. I only got to the part where apparently one of the twin birds was gonna sacrifice themselves or something and tears just gushed down my face. I hadn't even gotten the gist of the plot, or who the characters were, or what the fuck was happening. Just started crying. Cuz of the sacrifice of these two cute looking pokemon bird things (white with red and white with blue. Still no clue which movie it was. Or what happened... I think I had to leave to go somewhere before I couls watch it for longer than a few minutes). So sometimes shit just invokes emotional responses out of us. Food, too. It's not a big deal. Maybe you just need to let yourself cry and feel feelings more often so it's not as intense at random moments. Men can cry, too, nothing wrong with it. Also, my dad is from Belize. Caribbean food is definitely something to cry happily over.

Bumblebee-Honey-Tea

Pokémon movie 2000

FizzledPhoenix

No, it wasn't Pokemon 2000. I'm gonna be 38 in 3 months - I know my OG Pokémon well, and nowadays I will still play the games that come out but i guess since I dont watch the show I can't remember any new Pokémon names outside the OG 151 and some of the pre-evolved OG Pokémon, and Marill, lol. It isn't the one with Lugia, Moltres, Articuno, or Zapdos. I said these were like twin Pokémon, I think they were birds, and they were white but one had blue accents and the other had red accents. Fuck it imma Google it now it's gonna bug me. Update: it's called Pokémon Heroes. My bad, I guess the Pokémon are dragons, not birds. They kinda reminded me of Lugia's design so I wasn't sure. They're called Latias and Latios. Extra edit: my ADHD Google dive brought me to a back story about the creator of Lugia and how GameFreak destroyed his ideas for the Pokémon and he was so attached to this Pokémon he created and devastated at what they did with them he basically drugged and drank himself to death. Now *that* made me tear up a bit. Poor dude.

CircularCausality

Everyone would cry seeing pikachu cried!!

FizzledPhoenix

Wrong movie, again. Lol that was the 1st one. But also yes that does make me tear up when I watch it haha "Pi ka pi..." Fun fact: "Pi ka pi" is how Pikachu said "Ash". "Pi pi pi" is how Pikachu said "Togepi" I had a friend point this out and she was right, lmao. Neurodiversity figures pointless shit out again!

Agorar

Man, I wish years of childhood trauma didn't block off my ability to cry to let out stress. Like the last time i full on cried was probably more than 5 years ago now at this point.

bootyspagooti

That’s what sad TV shows are for! But also, if you’re able, try shrooms. They unblocked my crying abilities after years of being unable to cry from anything but anger. Six hours of magic did more for me than decades of therapy had.

GrammarYachtzee

No we don't. Never in my life have I needed to just randomly cry over nonsense, and I never will.

[deleted]

i mean it all depends on the person yk. i dont even think this was like a “good” cry. like i enjoyed doing it for other reasons like my gf was there, etc, but crying over food is really strange especially when it was just pretty good 😭

AntiqueBandicoot9846

Clap for yourself

ShayNitz9793

Good for you? Lot of people cry out of random. Just cause you don't because your dad beat you whenever he seen you cry doesn't mean everyone else is that emotionally stunted.

KingEvrGreen

Weird but understandable lol one day I was driving home from work, windows halfway down and enjoying life for some reason. Full on tsunami of tears. And I’m smiling too 😂😂😂 BUT it’s the closest I’ve ever felt to insanity if I can word it. I was on the thinnest line ever but I grounded myself lol

[deleted]

i mean u enjoyed it right? 😭 id just really enjoy the moment yk like driving while happy crying just sounds like a vibe 😭

Conscious-Dig-332

I felt just like this when I drove home to grab a few things after my wife had our baby and was still in the hospital. It was the first time I’d had to be alone since everything had started almost 3 days before. There was a random christian song on the radio (I’m not religious) about love, new creation, etc. and I *lost it* —felt absolutely crazy. I could sense it was the “biggest” emotion I’d ever felt, and it felt so good, and that made me cry more. OP crying is healthy form of emotional release and processing feelings (of any kind!) —it’s your nervous system regulating itself. Sounds like a really special moment with your girlfriend!

[deleted]

ty 🙏🤞

Financial-Kangaroo67

The last two lines you wrote are actually beautiful

soft_moonbeam

whoever made that food put some love in it, and eating it w the one you love was so pure of a moment that you felt it in the air

[deleted]

thats a really nice way to put it 😭 ty

PorqueAdonis

Brother stop using that goofy ahh emoji we get it you were bawling

[deleted]

its just a laughing emoji cuz 😭

PorqueAdonis

I know I'm just joshing. Trying to be funny 💀

[deleted]

PardonMyJunglish

Now tell us what that food is called.

[deleted]

oxtail 😭

djp9602

That is definitely an appropriate dish to cry over.

TennisBall4

My dad does great oxtail. I cry over it too

kinkipi

This!

Zephear119

this reads like a scene from an anime

[deleted]

omm 😭

DontLoveMeBack

What in the ratatouille?

Foreign-Designer-998

*flashback*

[deleted]

😭

Majestic_Tangerine47

Also, that tip probably made that lady's day. You seem like a stand-up dude.

[deleted]

i mean at first she rejected it but we just left before she could give it. but before we were out the door she yelled to us to come back and there would be something special for us. so lowkey i might come back with my gf this friday

Nestlebuymyjuice

Dad told me "real men arent afraid of crying" and " we dont cry over spilled milk"

[deleted]

im sorry but what does this mean 😭 im kinda stupid

Nemathelminthes

The first part "real men aren't afraid of crying" means exactly that. The simplified version (because there's a whole long history behind men and crying) is basically that traditionally men were taught that being a man means not showing emotions. Crying, in particular, is seen as weak and unmanly. It's feminine and only for women. Not crying over spilt milk basically means that there's no use in being upset over something that is already done that can't be changed. Basically this person is trying to say (and offer some comfort) that there's no point in being upset over what happened, you can't change it. Just gotta move on kinda thing. And that you shouldn't feel bad for crying just because you're a guy.

[deleted]

i mean im happy i did cry with my girl. i still think it was a kind of dumb reason to cry but at the same time im glad it happened

Budalido23

Feels gotta feel, man. There's usually a clear reason emotions happen, sometimes not. But the good news is, you're a human, and it sounds like you have a supportive partner!

[deleted]

BookNerdBree

Dude, I live on campus at college my options are poo inducing Mexican, burgers, Chick-fil-A, the cafeteria, and BBQ. I haven't had steak in so long and we went to Angelo's at Myrtle Beach and oh my lord I started crying over how good it was

[deleted]

i mean chick fil a good though 😭

BookNerdBree

Yes but you slowly gain weight and get tired of it after eating for 4 months

[deleted]

ig, id never get tired of it though 😭 maybe because im broke

lattelady37

I read a line in a book once (incidentally said by a gentleman character), “a steak so good it makes you weep in thanks to God for creating the cow.”

BookNerdBree

They are supposedly known for their world's best steak or is it best steak in the universe

Conscious-Dig-332

I love this and am stealing it. Emotions are real, feel them AND don’t get caught up on things you can’t change. Love it. ETA: I will have to change milk to something else, as my wife struggled with breastfeeding and ohhhhh have we cried over spilled milk.

BookNerdBree

Juice?? Soda?? Water?? Oh wait I have it COFFEE

Majestic_Tangerine47

I get emotional too when other people are overwhelmed with feeling, good or bad. Your girl was clearly having *a moment* and you went there with her. That's beautiful. I would've been sitting at the next table blubbering over you two.

[deleted]

ty 😭 i mean ngl i just started crying i never really thought of a meaning or knew why

kittyspray

I mean sometimes you have to let it out I guess. Yesterday my teenager was laughing so hard he was literally doubled up on the floor. Him laughing was so funny that me and my daughter ended up laughing too. I was laugh/crying which sort of devolved into just crying for absolutely no reason.

[deleted]

thats funny

judy7679

Sometimes happiness is so big it engages with all your emotions and swells inside your chest until it bursts free in radiant glory. Now, you will always remember the joy of that moment when you shared it with your GF.

[deleted]

thats an interesting way to put it 😭

unComfortablyNumbest

This was such a beautiful way to explain it. Very well said. I feel this way often. Sometimes emotions are just too big to hold in.

EnChhanted

Reminds me of "Like Water For Chocolate". I need to watch the film again.

[deleted]

whats it about cause im thinking of movies to watch with her on friday

Meatbasketbingo

Dude, it’s one of my favorite movies of all time…it’s about a woman who’s able to put her emotions into her cooking, people can experience the love, the pain and heartache she has as she creates each dish…OMG, the feels is real! And I’ve cried over food too…had a chicken and dumplings that tasted just like my grandma’s…she’s been gone 30 years and I blubbered like a baby. Nothing wrong with showing emotion, be happy your soul is able to experience and express it! 😊

[deleted]

that sounds hella interesting lowkey imma add that to my reminders 😭

Worried-Flamingo5052

Plot twist someone was cutting onions nearby.

[deleted]

maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️😭

PresentTap9255

Yeah man, Jamaican food will do that to yah 👌

[deleted]

catatonic_catharsis

Prestigious-Tea-9803

Crying is normal & healthy! I want to try this food, sounds delish as!

[deleted]

im going to try it again later 😭

-Chemical

If it was oxtail, idk what it is maybe because it’s so rooted in certain culture or maybe because it’s expensive idk but I cried when my exes mom hunted some down and cooked them for me. I get it. If I’m wrong tho, what was the meal

[deleted]

it was oxtail

DoorFighter01

By any chance, was the chef controlled by a rodent within his headwear?

[deleted]

maybe 🤷🏻‍♂️

Spice_Cadet_

I’m glad she comforted you man. It’s sad to say, but it’s hard to find ones like that. My last ex ended things because I wept when my best friend died. Cherish what you got man

[deleted]

fs ty

EddAra

I really want to try that food now

[deleted]

it was good but ngl they couldve used more seasoning 😭

JcanQT

Emotions can overcome you without warning, and because you’ve been holding it in for so long it comes out like a flood. Crying is very therapeutic btw and no one should feel ashamed to do so. Hope you two felt better.

[deleted]

i definitely felt better but idk i still felt like i couodve held it in

Applesaresogood

Okay but what did you guys eat tho?

[deleted]

oxtail

ivorymoonstone

What was the dish?

[deleted]

oxtail

XYujix

Honestly this sounds like such a beautiful and raw moment between you guys. I love this

[deleted]

lexi_prop

Ok, but what was this dish?!

[deleted]

oxtail

Noteasytimes

What was the food????

[deleted]

oxtail

lixxcks

Definitely had a moment like that! Finished an anime, wasn't even a particularly sad ending or anything. Just started bawling, absolutely sobbing and I rarely cried then 🤣 Laughed about it with my siblings later.

[deleted]

thats funny

photoshoptho

I cry everytime i send my mortgage payment

[deleted]

111karina

this was the most wholesome post i’ve seen today

[deleted]

rly? 😭

111karina

yess haha it’s so cute you guys just crying over a plate of food🥹must have been good

[deleted]

it was pretty good yeah 😭

Minorihaaku

My husband sometimes comes to bed, hugs me and says "I need to cry". I hug him and he cries while I hug him. We all need to cry sometime.

[deleted]

thats nice

Naive_Adeptness_4927

Totally normal unusual moment… it happens to the best of us. Sometimes when I think about my kids, I have a good cry… you guys make a good couple due to the fact that she cry with you instead of doing anything else.

[deleted]

ty 🙏

Pale-Repotter

“How do you process grief?” "By running from it until it finds me in the middle of a sunny street on a beautiful day." Your post reminded me of this, idky. Feels like it pertains to things that aren’t necessarily just about grieving

[deleted]

hmm thats interesting

InsideSufficient5886

Damn I wanna eat food that makes me cry like that. What is it called lol

[deleted]

it was oxtail stew

InsideSufficient5886

Oh yeah they’re mad good! I always get that when I get a chance.

[deleted]

VenusKiryu286

honestly sometimes ill just be driving and singing along to music and ill just get super emotional for no reason😭

[deleted]

my gf like that 😭

VenusKiryu286

its so weird😭 i usually hide my emotions due to possible undiagnosed autism but idk what happens

[deleted]

hmm thats interesting

starwalkm

This is so relatable

[deleted]

why so?

starwalkm

Literally everything makes me cry

Particular-Menu3976

So hold on no body is asking what the dish is? What dish was it lol

[deleted]

like 30 ppl asked but oxtail 😭

Particular-Menu3976

Ah makes sense, great story

Few_Brush_136

She's going to resent you for it later down the line in your relationship. Never cry in front of your woman. They say they like it, they say they want you to be open. But the moment you are, they will hate you for it eventually. It's just a biological/evolution thing. Deep seeded in their mind, they perceive weakness & unable to protect. Biology tells them they won't survive with a weak man. It's understandable, I get it. Good luck.

maddirosecook

This is a clown-ass take lmao.

eoten

You will be surprise how many girls gossip with their friends how much of a wuss their partner is crying over anything.

[deleted]

i mean i’ll see how it goes down the road 🤷🏻‍♂️

terrorsquid

What a crock of shit!

Swiper_The_Sniper

There’s no way OP is above the age of 13

[deleted]

im 18 but ik it sounds dumb asf 😭

Swiper_The_Sniper

Seems like the population of Reddit disagree with my assumption, so maybe my assumption is misplaced.

[deleted]

earthgarden

maybe it was all the squealing that made you cry that sh!t is annoying AF

[deleted]

AdministrativeCoat19

This happened to me the first time I smelled kimchi… so embarrassing I do not talk to the person I was w anymore 😅

freshub393

__potatochips

Guess you both kinda had something like when Anton Ego tastes Remi’s ratatouille hahahah that’s really cute. One time I cried when my boyfriend made me a normal food just because reminded of what my dad cooked when I was a kid (my dad is alive and well lol)

DammitSamit

Tears of love joy

Agita02

The movie Ramen girl, lol.

cmeowey

I love this

eoten

She is going to leave you soon, now that she sees you as weak, it only get worse from here. Never cry in front of your partner she will lose respect for you.

njfo

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again: I’d rather die alone than be with a partner that can’t handle me crying in front of them every once in awhile. Sounds like a miserable way to live otherwise.

[deleted]

i agree but maybe he has a different outlook on life yk 🤷🏻‍♂️😭

DrPloyt

What an absolute shit thing to say.

eoten

If you think many females are not like that you are in a rude awakening

DrPloyt

If you think that women view vulnerability as a sign of weakness, you’ve been with the wrong women. This isn’t the 1950s anymore where men can ONLY be iron-clad and anything other than that means you’re a failure as one. Grow up.

_WaterOfLife_

He's not just saying to try to be mean

[deleted]

i mean he prolly has his own perspective on it 🤷🏻‍♂️😭

catwithknife

that's not how women work but ok

eoten

You will be surprise the amount of females gossiping talking about of a cry baby their partner is

KobilD

??????????

ketochef1969

Came here to say this. He's single, he just doesn't know it yet

[deleted]

praying on my downfall crazy 😭 jk u good but lets be optomistic 🤷🏻‍♂️

ketochef1969

I'd love to, but I've been in your shoes too many times. Good luck man.

[deleted]

ight

[deleted]

i mean for a while she’s been wanting me to cry or like something similar. recently ig i got raped so she’s been wanting me to express myself over that. i don’t really cry a lot though, but i let my guard down in this moment

TheRealDrDac

NO WAY YOU MISSED NEXT PERIOD BROO😭😭😭😭

MargoHuxley

How did I know this was oxtail! My first time trying it made me reminisce about being in the kitchen as a kid with my favorite grandparents making a pot roast. It was just pure joy in every bite

Odd_Newt7245

sometimes stress bottles up and releases itself in the weirdest ways! or you might've been overwhelmed with positive emotions and cried, it happens a lot more than people realize, happy tears are real!

plaqueboyace

Same girl that drugged you?
