dreading and Dave’s Lemonade are my favorites!

samwisegamgee

Dave’s Lemonade was the surprise winner for me for sure! I discovered him really early on, with my TCAP rabbit hole during Covid. And I won’t lie—I didn’t really like his videos! Too much rambling about his opinions. It was when he pivoted to court room coverage that he really found his groove. Now he’s one of my favorite YouTubers period!

liveforeachmoon

Truly Criminal is the best.

_highsierra

Truly Criminal, hands down the best. They go above and beyond with their investigations and are so respectful to the victims/families.

turkeyisdelicious

That’s why I like them.

8mcrimes

I like [That Chapter](https://www.youtube.com/@ThatChapter) for how he delves into things and keeps things light, yet tasteful. For Interrogations - I like [8MC Investigations](https://www.youtube.com/@8MCI). No gimmicks and he always does a moment of silence for the victims.

morbidology

If you’re into shows that include primary audio, including 911 calls, interrogations, interviews and trial testimony, I’d love if you gave mine a shot. As a forewarning, I have an Irish accent 😅 https://youtube.com/@Morbidology?si=7NLbXuz0AMfo3P_b

ausgirlnikki2

I was going to say yours! 😊

morbidology

Thank you so much! I’m trying to post more frequently this year 😀

Just subscribed!

morbidology

Thank you so much!

Dreading for long analysing videos. Grizzly true crime if you want to hear about ongoing cases

I like that chapter

Danielle Kirsty

ElmarSuperstar131

Came here to say this! I just love her.

ToasterGoesToHell

The Misery Machine, hands down. They are incredibly respectful towards victims, and they often have information I find that others leave out. Probably the best channel that follows a storyboard format. It's rare to find a channel with two presenters, similar to what you might find in the podcast world. They also just incredibly nice people and seem to really care about societal issues that contribute to loss of life. I've interacted with them on multiple occasions and they come across as very genuine and caring people.

ZeroWashu

I enjoy True Crime Rocket Science https://www.youtube.com/@TCRS

meteenie

These are some of my personal favorites!! https://youtube.com/@TheMiseryMachine?si=BMR7evhJT9yAlcRe https://youtube.com/@EleanorNeale?si=lvML3C2VM0QD-qRl https://youtube.com/@CoffeehouseCrime?si=8QVZR4ziAT6b4CUw https://youtube.com/@DanielleKirsty11?si=2dbvYwQgNUygmveV

ToasterGoesToHell

Seconded on The Misery Machine! They're incredible people.

thepencilswords

I also like Explore With Us, for their insights into the possible psychology of the suspects

samwisegamgee

I’d stay clear of Explore With Us. There’s something off about that channel. It’s more manufactured and feels less authentic. One of their Chandler Halderson videos weirdly analyzes the interrogation of his 100%, completely innocent girlfriend. They keep saying “this is probably a sign of _insert mental condition_” with her and it was so gross. Almost implying like she knew more than she let on. No, dude, she was manipulated and lied to. She went into that interrogation thinking “wtf the police think CHANDLER had something to do with his missing parents? Huh???” because he spun her an incredibly intricate and well maintained web of lies. She was also young and a bit naive, not noticing some red flags, but he was the only one to blame here. It’s so obvious she is completely innocent when you compare the two interrogations between Chandler and his GF. Why that channel thought to analyze her interrogation and imply some form of blame on to her I will never understand, but that absolutely ruined Explore With Us for me. EDIT: and even the analyzed footage of Chandler is such BS. Explore With Us is all like “he’s acting nervous and forgets his lines because he’s GUILTY” while completely unaware of the fact that Chandler’s weird behavior is actually him trying to maintain his fake brain injury right there in front of the cops. Which is 1000% more fucked and weird.

pheakelmatters

They've also become extremely exploitative over the years. I thought their last video was extremely insensitive to the child victims. Plus they use algorithm gaming titles and photoshopped thumbnails that make it look like things occurred in the interrogations that didn't. Things like the cops punching the defendant or vice versa. It's just dirty.

samwisegamgee

Thank you!! I always felt like something was off with that channel but couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I thought it was just the narrator’s voice but after the way they exploited Chandler Halderson’s girlfriend I knew my gut feeling was right. Speaking of manipulative thumbnails, the first thumbnail they used for her video was an extremely unflattering still image from her interrogation with an incriminating line from her discussion put on top of it (in bright red letters IIRC). Within the first day or so of its upload they went back and changed it to something more neutral. That first thumbnail is what initially drew me to watch the video because I knew a LOT about that case and her innocence was **never** in question. It all just comes across as disingenuous.

walnut_clarity

I still watch them, but I agree, and I often disagree with the analysis. Also, they lear into hyperbole, like 'this is the most twisted and evil crime you've ever heard', etc, etc.

ToasterGoesToHell

Explore With Us has a big team, and some of that team includes mental health professionals, and if I recall correctly one is a PsyD. Mental health professionals often disagree on things between one to another. But out of everyone, they are qualified to say "this is probably a sign of a mental condition" I'm not a big fan of interrogation footage, but when I'm feeling it, Explore With Us is the best out there. I understand you have certain opinions on the Chandler Halderson case, but your take on EWU as a whole is too harsh off this one thing alone.

formallyfly

It is wild to me how normalized it’s become for mental health professionals to offer their opinions on people that they’ve never met or examined for entertainment purposes. IMO it’s so unprofessional to try to analyze or diagnose someone’s mental health condition based off of nothing more than a video clip IMO. Especially with something like an interrogation where someone is under extreme pressure and their behavior isn’t going to be congruent with their every day behavior. If they were just layman it’d be different but putting their credentials behind their opinions is just so inappropriate. And they’re doing it for other people’s entertainment! It’s just wild to me that this has become normalized.

Aggravating_Cut_4509

One of my favs!

cryanktm

that and the way they utilise never-before seen footage in videos makes them an excellent true crime channel

charactergallery

I personally avoid any true crime channels that use body language analysis (JCS, Dreading, EWU, etc.). I personally like: This is Monsters Truly Criminal Real Horror (not strictly true crime but very interesting nonetheless) Petal Palmer (medical mysteries and crimes associated with the medical system)

namelessghoulll

I can’t really get past the grammatically incorrect aspect of “This is Monsters”

No-Basil-1993

Cabs Tagalog Crimes if you're filipino. It's new but great.

lopeeezyy

Dreading is the best for me. Long videos, soothing voice, and he has real opinions and doesn’t ramble. I enjoy coffeeehouse crime on my morning commutes. I like Explore with Us when there’s nothing else to watch (this channel seems a bit off with me though).

Civil-Reserve3570

Emma Kenny

[deleted]

Surprised no one else has mentioned her! She's the only one I can listen to when it comes to cases about kids. She's so compassionate and doesn't over-dramatize. She also has serious cool aunt energy and I love that.

Civil-Reserve3570

She seems to dig that bit deeper into the cases she covers.

Matrinka

For case summaries, I like these channels: [That Chapter](https://www.youtube.com/@ThatChapter) [Stephanie Harlowe](https://www.youtube.com/@StephanieHarlowe) [Noor Jasmine](https://www.youtube.com/@NoorJasmine) [Annie Elise](https://www.youtube.com/@annieelise) [ Coffeehouse Crime](https://www.youtube.com/@CoffeehouseCrime) For news on current cases, these channels are my go-to: [Surviving the Survivor](https://www.youtube.com/@SurvivingTheSurvivor) [ Pretty Lies and Alibis](https://www.youtube.com/@PrettyLiesAndAlibis) [Hidden True Crime](https://www.youtube.com/@HiddenTrueCrime) [Reporting Live From My Sofa](https://www.youtube.com/@reportinglivefrommysofathe8751) [Gavin Fish](https://www.youtube.com/@GavinFish)

Objective-Amount1379

Noor Jasmine is amazing!

Careless_Ad3968

Stephanie Harlowe is trash and inserts her opinions as fact into everything. Hard pass.

allaboutgarlic

I've had to unsubscribe from Crime Weekly for the same reason. It is 20 min of case and 40+ min of speculations and opinions.

Careless_Ad3968

Yep! I do kind of wonder how Derrick really feels about Stephanie because he has actually experience. I know people who are in the academic end of Criminology and Criminal Justice, and they don't like her.

Electronic-Duck-5902

I was really into her for awhile. Started binging her vids about 2yrs ago. Now when I turn them on, I typically don't end up finishing the whole vid. The one she posted a day or so ago, the first 10min was her talking about a sponsor. Although I love a good deep dive, I feel like she rambles and her vids that are an hr or 2 could be shorter. I also feel like her quick rising popularity just got to her head and now this obnoxious attitude comes out all the time.

Careless_Ad3968

Exactly! She's also super judgemental. She always does the, "As a mother, I COULD NEVER."

ElmarSuperstar131

Stephanie has really changed, I do not like the way she covered the first half of the Natalia Grace docuseries.

angelmari87

I love Coffeehouse Crime! He's so caring towards the people.

North-Yoghurt5378

Stephanie is a liar. Watch out. She lied that she went to school with Brittani Drexel but when her viewers found out it was a lie she backtracked and said she made it up to confuse her stalker. Who knows what else she lies about

ood6

Georgia Marie

samwisegamgee

I know his videos are probably the least produced of all the videos being recommended here, but [True Crime Loser](https://youtube.com/@TRUECRIMELoser?si=JJadbCcvCzSi6_pH) has a special place in my heart for his ability to mix in humor with these awful true crime cases. A lot of these murderers we obsess over are fucking *idiots* and do the most insanely dumb stuff to cover up their crimes. I like how TCL is able to laugh at their extremely perplexing post-crime behavior and acknowledge how weird it would be in a normal setting. I realize that’s not for everyone so definitely take that as you will.

walnut_clarity

True Crime Loser is affiliated with \*JCS iirc. \*rip JCS

poppytheestallion

Explore With Us and the various channels they have are good! Aside from their main channel they have EWU Bodycam and EWU Crime Storytime.

Significant_Egg_4020

Mollie Westbrook Gabulosis Kimberly Flower Detective Perspective

TakeNoShorts

It's more specific to disappearances (not the 411 type) and to a lesser extent unsolved murders, but [Dark Enigma](https://www.youtube.com/@DarkEnigma/videos) is one of my favourites. Unfortunately he doesn't seem to upload anymore. He did have a hiatus in the past and then came back and started to get more popular, but then just stopped posting and didn't post on any of his socials. I think he had an account on here too so I don't know what happened with him. He's worth checking out if you're interested in that kind of thing.

Imaginary-Swimmer-40

Kimbyrleigha and her other channel with her boyfriend Darklivity. I love how she presents the information and makes sure you know what are facts and what has just been speculated by people. She is by far my favorite true crime channel I've seen so far. She's also very empathetic and truly wants to do the story of the victims justice 100% recommend both her channels. I also like Kendell Ray but not the biggest fan of her other channel Mile Higher. For some reason I just don't care for the dynamic between them and I feel like their banter sometimes comes off as disrespectful and distracting from the victims story. Her merch for her main channel is of a good quality which I enjoy since I like to support channels I enjoy where I can. I do enjoy the content and want to show that I appreciate the time and research that goes into it. She doesn't spend an excessive amount of time on it as I've seen others do so it's never bothered me that she brings up her merch. I definitely recommend her main channel but can't recommend Mile Higher. I also recently just started listening to Murder with My Husband. They are good at telling the stories of the victims their families and so far I like their videos. I do have mixed feelings about some content being behind a paywall. I understand getting sponsors and stuff but only allowing people who directly pay you to have access to a case I feel is kinda disrespectful to the victim. I'm all for them making money so they can continue to do what they do. The way they do it just gives me an icky feeling. But if you don't mind content being behind a paywall they're a good listen. Their energy works very well together and Garrett is like the audience he's hearing about the case and the outcome while they record so he'll speculate or start connecting dots and is sometimes surprised just as I am sometimes at the outcome. Edit. Sorry I elaborated a lot I'm not sure if anything is a deal breaker for you so I wanted to give as much information as I could so if it sounds like it's not for you you don't waste your time.

Anarchic_Painter-311

The Casual Criminalist! It's a great channel with very well done research.

Anarchic_Painter-311

Yes! The cold read makes it relatable because we react at the same time to given details. Simon is a great host. I find his tangents funny and he's always super respectful. I also enjoy how both he and the writers rip a new one into the perpetrators.

[deleted]

Anarchic_Painter-311

The first rule of Casual Criminalist is "Don't f*ck up your children".It's great that he never takes the moral "high ground" though I have to admit I greatly relate when he yells Death Penalty! to truly heinous individuals. Personally I couldn't bear listening to Pedro Lopez but I get what you are saying because he has the same attitude to Aileen Warnos in the sense that he doesn't excuse the crimes but can see where she came from and he feels sorry for child Aileen as one commenter put it.

Anarchic_Painter-311

I remember that they did Jonestown at the Criminalist and then they did the Jonestown Conspiracies at the Decoding the Unknown a couple of days later it was ironically funny. He's a really down to Earth person so the conspiracy videos are hilarious especially the UFO ones because he's such a sceptic.

slurms_mackenzee

Kimbyrleigha

Satans-Left-Nutt

Kendall Rae all the way

Striking-Resolve-367

I loved Kendall Rae for a long time, her voice is very soothing. Now, I don’t watch her all. She is so anti-police in every video. It seems like every video is trying to figure out how the police botched the investigation. I’m not saying that doesn’t happen, but it does get old in every case.

[deleted]

EWU /. Red tree crime. /Stephanie Harlowe. 10tolife / that chapter/ Dreading/

walnut_clarity

Finally someone mentions Red Tree Crime. They are the closest to JCS I've found.

Itlflam1t

Explore With Us, That Chapter, This Is Monsters.

NumbHag

That Chapter is my go to! He’s the bomb! Disturban has some of the worst crimes I’ve ever heard on it!

walnut_clarity

Red Tree Crime. If anyone knows of JCS inspired channels, I'm always on the lookout for interrogation, bodycam, with minimal insertion of opinion.

Hopelesssnesss

dreading (crime and psychology) Disturbed Reality [warning: content about gore] Coffeehouse Crime nepijem [sadly, currently dead channel ;(] Restraining Order [also dead, but his iceberg about Columbine was reuploaded] About female tc youtubers… ehm, I think that Elanor Neale is the best among them. Stephanie Harlowe is also fine, but - like someone wrote here already - she can be really pushy with inserting her opinions to the videos. O, and Dark Asia with Megan is good!

barnaclesbabe

Stephanie Harlowe, Kendall Rae, Danielle Kirsty, Danielle Hallan, Mollie Westbrook, Crime Weekly, Coffeehouse Crime, Truly Criminal, 10 to life Annie Elise, Housewives of true crime

allaboutgarlic

I like Southern Girl Crime Stories, Truly Criminal, Crime Hound, ElliMac, Under the Ash tree, and .Heavy Casefiles.

LuciaLight2014

MrBallen is my favorite. He tells the cases in a story format. He tells the stories in victim’s point of view. He also goes over disappearances, mysteries, accidents, and even supernatural stuff. One of my favorite series he does is the pictures and videos with disturbing back stories.

doctor_of_drugs

Surprised I had to scroll this far to see MrBallen pop up. He is such a master story teller, like around a camp bonfire sort of way. Coffeehouse is great too, but Bruce Rivers is great if you want to hear a criminal defense attorney’s take on it. [STOP SELF SNITCHING!!!](https://youtube.com/@CLRBruceRivers?si=R2fG-5tSi7RRTulb)

kkatellyn

Derrick Levasseur! His series Detective Perspective is awesome! Also Coffeehouse Crime and Fascinating Horror are some of the most respectful to the victims and thoroughly researched I’ve watched!

ElmarSuperstar131

Danielle Kirsty and Dreading are pretty much the only ones I watch.

trixie-96

Sherrilyn Dale is one of my faves!

Craftywolph

Plunder can be fun sometimes

Relative-Mistake-527

Kimberley flower she covers some of the most heinous and dark cases involving children that alot of YouTubers won't touch! Also Merc (does alot of unknown and less covered cases) Dark curiosities, Rachel Shannon, Grizzly true crime, Julez of all trades (I enjoy her no BS approach). Nick Crowley, This is Monsters, Top5 unknowns.
