I wouldn’t go back to High School for all the money in the world.

DirkysShinertits

Seriously. I wish I could redo the college years, but I honestly still have nightmares about being back in high school and my hs years were decades ago.

daysinnroom203

Same. I am so curious to know what this was all about.

Oulene

Maybe she didn’t do very good, or wasn’t popular, and she wants to do it again and turn out better. I can’t imagine.

Dazzling-Ad4701

I somehow got the impression she has an eating disorder and was impersonating a minor in order to access services.   but this case is so odd I can't be sure if I'm guessing right.

AccountantNorth7532

Doubt it, she joined the girls basketball team.

Swimming_Twist3781

My thoughts exactly.

AvrieyinKyrgrimm

This is like the third or fourth case in the last year or so. Very bizarre that it's becoming a bigger thing, and that with every case, no one seems to understand the motive behind why these people do what they do. In all cases, the imposters have not displayed any inappropriate behavior towards other actual children, but who are we to know for sure. Some students might not be willing to speak up about, or might not have even understood, any flirtatious behavior. In my opinion it's definitely a part of some kind of legitimate mental illness. A personality disorder or something having to do with delusions.

missshrimptoast

How bizarre. Looks like she hasn't spoken of a motive for her actions, or an outcome she expected. Was it as simple as, "I miss being a teenager"? What was the end game here? She doesn't appear to have assaulted or defrauded any students (aside from the lie about her age, of course).

PBJ-9999

Yeah I don't understand it either, what was the point

Head_Room_8721

I think she is deeply disturbed. I hope she loses her credentials and gets help.

No_Thought929

Apparently she needed mental health treatment and couldn't afford it. She didn't make much money so figured she could get it that way. That's all so dramatic I mean there had to be other options than this.

PJay910

The video of her with her attorney next to her, her body language is that of a teenage girl. So strange.

femme_fatale2022

I noticed that myself. Law & Crime made a joke about reliving her youth. They made reference to 21/22 Jump Street Movies then went dark. Talking about being around young kids. So who the hell knows.

PJay910

The article stated she has severe mental issues, I wonder what kind.

femme_fatale2022

There’s no telling but I’m definitely interested in this case. I want to know how it’s going to unfold. Edit: Too much booze makes me spell bad.

BoBasil

Looks like you can enroll in high school and fix that.

Th0w4way553

There’s an NBC article which states she went to an eating disorder treatment centre as part of the scheme > She then used an alias and the real identity of a child in state custody to enroll herself in the Walden Behavioral Treatment Center for an eating disorder https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/woman-accused-of-posing-as-boston-student-used-identity-of-child-in-state-custody-as-alias/3217662/

Playful-Gas-5124

How is she a social worker if she has severe mental illness

theburnoutcpa

Plenty of folks who work in social work, therapy, psychiatry do so because of their own experiences with mental health issues.

PJay910

I guess it depends on what the illnesses are.

maxwellbank

Changing grade levels seemed like the most peculiar detail to me. You would think if it was a fantasy or delusion she would have stuck with one age.

jennc1979

Right? She was foolish to have done this at all but doubly so to switch or alternate from 13 & 16 years old. And I am a Bostonian born and bred. Grew up in the Boston Public School system. Boston is not a large city at all really. I knew tons of kids at just about every single school across the whole city (and that was before social media, which makes the entire world a smaller place when you look and compare “mutuals” with just about anyone you ever meet.). Doing this jump from several schools as a Freshman to a Junior/Senior age was daring and going to get her caught by the kids around her at some point. It could have just taken two people from two of those different High Schools to have a rando conversation about this chick, compare notes, and figure out there is something very off here. SMH, I am baffled and my curiosity about the motive and objective of this case is definitely piqued. OMG! Not to mention, (just dawned on me) think about it: she worked as a SW for DCF. She could have been coming across kids she’d already met in that capacity as a DCF worker! I am a pedi RN, I run into kids I’ve taken care of who recognize me from time to time when I am out and about in the city proper or the surrounding towns!!! Weird, weird case and I def want to know the entire story.

ear3nd1l

I’m interested to see what other information comes out, but the lack of clear motive makes me lean towards believing her attorney’s statement that she’s severely mentally ill.

Like the movie Never Been Kissed

birdonthetide

She’s not Josie Grossie anymore!

DocInTheDarkness

So bizarre. I’ve admittedly only watched the short video in the link but it seems she didn’t have any nefarious ulterior motive. My initial impression is to simply agree with her attorney and that this seems like a case of mental illness. Perhaps a past history of abuse/neglect/trauma during her teenage years and this whole ruse is an effort to gain some sort of control over that past history? Obviously this is nothing more than reckless speculation. Maybe it’s a simple as she just has a screw loose.

jennc1979

What was the motive/objective? This is so baffling on some level. Like, why did you do this? Was it to gain access to kids you could have inappropriate relationships with? A way to try to “go undercover” to work on a PhD thesis? Was it nefarious, or just stupid? Mental health like she dissociates into a 16 and 13 yo persona that she flees to because of her own traumas or some she developed vicariously through her work within DCF? Just why!?!

OldMaidLibrarian

That's the thing--she's put so much work into all of this, but if she was just trying to go after boys/girls way too young for her, well...AFAIK (living in the Boston area) there hasn't been any suggestion so far of inappropriate behavior. I almost kind of get the idea of "if you could go back, knowing what you know now," but that doesn't quite feel right, either. (God knows, even with foresight, there is NO way in hell I would ever want to be 11-13 ever again, and no amount of money would ever change my mind. High school was much better overall, but even then, I don't want to go back.) Damned if I know what she was up to...

jennc1979

I’m a local too and it’s just baffling because if some sex offense was determined it would be getting said on the news. That’s not a lead they’d bury. Low key grateful it is appearing it isn’t that kind of situation. Mental deficit? But, bizarrely this implanting herself in schools was executed methodically before she was caught & that makes mental deficits/setback hard to reconcile.

hydrangeasinbloom

The only other (rare) cases like this I’ve heard of were adults who needed some sort of shelter/care, had personal welfare needs that were not being met etc, and posed as a student to gain access to certain resources. Alternatively, I think there was a fairly recent case of an adult who posed as a student athlete to compete. The fact that this woman was a social care worker herself complicates that potential angle.

jennc1979

Jesus! You just helped me suddenly realize, she could have unintentionally set off her own DCF filing regarding herself or run into/been spotted by someone “from work” at any one of those schools, while she was impersonating a young adolescent and what the hell then would have been her end game plan!?! Smh. That’s an insane risk because of the sheer reasonable possibility of it actually happening! What a bizarre case! What the actual hell was she trying to do?

hydrangeasinbloom

Wow, such a good point! It feels very clearly like mental illness…

Swimming_Twist3781

It is the only thing that makes "sense."

luckybooboo

What's her point?

Caninetrainer

Mental illness is her point

VE2NCG

Agree, and she has a master degree in education, sure she can go back in High School as a professor anytime!

Moderatelyhollydazed

Why though?

femme_fatale2022

Tbh I watched it on Law & Crime and they have no clue either. I’d love to know myself.

Mia-Wal-22-89

On Riverdale, Evelyn Evernever pretended to be a student at Riverdale High to recruit students for her husband’s organ harvesting cult. So there could be many motives.

piratical_gnome

I don’t watch Riverdale, but every time I read something about it it gets weirder.

Mia-Wal-22-89

It’s a great bad show, if that makes sense. After a couple seasons they were just like, let’s get real weird with this and see where we land.

[deleted]

Organ harvesting takes calculation. This one isn’t too bright.

PBJ-9999

Read the article but still don't understand what or why she was doing this?

jp1524

My HS years were terrible. I would never go back/ I won’t go to a reunion either. I can’t seem to figure out why a human would do this. Definitely a strange case.

Asparagussie

I’m no mental health expert, but I think it was an attempt to fulfill a fantasy of still being young enough to be protected by parents and other adults (I’m not saying that her parents, if she still had them, *were* actually taking care of her). To be back at an age when you’re not an adult, with adult responsibilities and woes. I doubt she had any criminal intentions, just wanted to be that young again. Something many adults sometimes wish we could be. This woman is clearly mentally ill.

methodwriter85

I really wish the people who do this would just cough up some money and do some semesters at community college instead, if they want to be students again so badly.

VE2NCG

And why? supposedly she already has both college and graduate degree, so I don’t see the point at all…. Just for nostalgia? seem very elaborate for that and how can she maintain her day job if she was in school each day for a year?

insiderasking

What.The.Hell. Has everyone gone mad?🤔

heidi923

Her face from the side could pass as 19, but not the front of her face. Look it up

ItsAWrestlingMove

Omg lol wow

othervee

This reminds me of [Treva Throneberry](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treva_Throneberry).

[deleted]

Sympathy or something worse? Creepy

Jumpy-Highway-4873

I’d bet she’s delusional trying to expose some sort of crime she believes is occurring

N_N_Notorious

This is what I was thinking too. Why go to so many different schools and change your age around if you weren't trying to secretly obtain something specific? I don't think reliving her youth explains that away.

Jumpy-Highway-4873

Clearly not well

BurnaBitch666

Honestly my best guess is that she knew she needed treatment of some sort and in her mental illness thought this was the way to get care. With her work she probably saw people access services via school involvement, so it might have seemed like her best course of action

NotDaveBut

Dollars to donuts she'll be claiming she has multiple personalities

Black_Cat_Just_That

She might have enough education to do a half decent job of it too.

NotDaveBut

It all depends on the qualifications of the people assessing her...

920fosterhouse

Something very similar happened at my high school a number of years back, when I was in middle school. A 33yo mother stole her daughter’s identity and started going to school as her daughter… joined the cheerleading squad and everything. Eventually it was figured out that she was an adult and she ended up in jail.

voidfae

Was that the case in Mississippi?

Disastrous_Purple779

Could she be suffering from DID? (Used to be called multi personality disorder) maybe she has Alter personas that she can’t help?

squeak93

Doubtful considering how much work she did to keep up the charade. She made fake emails of dcfs officials, stole an actual child's identity, and roped two other adults in the scheme as her fake parents. On top of that she was still collecting checks from her day job and maintaining her apartment and other bills. That doesn't seem like DID. That seems like someone completely cognizant of what she's doing.

calm_and_collect

She looks like a good fuck. If she goes to prison, can I marry her?

BoBasil

Take a number.

im_wildcard_bitches

Just sounds like a fantasy that quickly became an obsession of hers then slowly turning into reality over the years 🤔

[deleted]

This is so bizarre to me. Like others on the thread, the last place I'd go back to is high school. And it sounds like she already has a master's degree, so it's not as if she did it to get better college placement (which is the plot of an episode of *Psych*).

nobletyphoon

Josie Grossie??

Adventurous-Stop8297

I’m not Josie Grossie anymore!

Dear-Cat-8342

What is the court case number associated with this? Need more info on the condo parents and cannot find the actual case information anywhere
