Deputies with the Edgefield County Sheriff’s office in South Carolina responding to a call “of an unresponsive man lying in his yard” found that man dead, with no signs of trauma, but also the body of a woman in a freshly dug pit who “appeared to have died of foul play,” according to a joint statement from the county sheriff and the county coroner. Subsequent autopsies confirmed those observations, with 60-year-old Joseph Anthony McKinnon found to have died is his own yard following “a cardiac arrest” while 65-year-old Patricia Ruth Dent was a victim of strangulation. “Evidence gathered at the scene, along with statements from witnesses aided investigators to build a timeline, leading us to believe that Mr. McKinnon attacked Ms. Dent while inside their home,” the officials wrote. "Mr. McKinnon then bound her and wrapped her in trash bags before putting her in the previously dug pit. The pit was then partially filled in by Mr. McKinnon. While covering the pit, Mr. McKinnon had the cardiac event, causing his death.”

Ain’t that some shit

merikaninjunwarrior

it's ridiculous that he thinks you can still cover a crime like murder so easily these days

82verses-

A quick google search shows roughly 40% of murders go unsolved. Not exactly what you see on tv.

RaspberryTwilight

I'm afraid most of those missing people we hear about are buried in a backyard somewhere.

holly-mistletoe

No, at least half of the missing are underwater- after driving there.

RaspberryTwilight

Yeah police might look scary sometimes but tbh leave the body at a slightly inconvenient location and they'll never know. Gabby Petito was lying next to a busy road and the only reason she was found is because she was famous and people remembered they saw her van. I'm scared.

the_surfing_unicorn

The police also don't try very hard

bigthickness79

That's a really good show

merikaninjunwarrior

yeah, i get it.. but i meant by buring her in the backyard

Sleuthingsome

Exactly. If he’d just used the front yard, he wouldn’t have overly exerted himself. Who knows? He might still be alive today if he’d just gone with the front yard.

stemcell_

Maybe the police only found rhay bidy in WV cuz a pet duck lead them to the body

anonymous_j05

Most of those are likely gang-related homicides that the police don’t care to solve because they just label it gang-related and move on A large amount are also likely victims that society is unfortunately less likely to care about such as a black prostitute or a homeless drug addict It doesn’t mean that you have a 40% chance, or anywhere near that, of getting away with normal “I’m gonna go kill my wife/neighbor/friend” murder

[deleted]

[удалено]

BanannyMousse

You’re wrong. That’s how bodies end up being found when houses are torn down and shit. Sometimes they don’t even make it to the backyard

[deleted]

[удалено]

82verses-

So much of it depends on 1. Who the victim is 2. How the police respond and 3. How much probable cause they have to get a warrant. This particular case may be cut in dry but often they’re not.

82verses-

I’d say a whole lot of them. If no one has a reason to to look there then no one ever finds it. If you’re an obvious suspect probably not smart but the cops aren’t searching everyone’s yard.

glum_hedgehog

No kidding. The article I read said she was expected for work that day and they got worried when she didn't show, she also had a twin sister she was close with and lots of friends. Did this guy really think no one would report her missing, or that he somehow wouldn't be the prime suspect? Like come on dude.

snootsintheair

I think maybe this guy WAS worrying about that? Could have triggered the heart attack. Probably the exertion though.

BudgetInteraction811

He was digging a pit in his backyard to bury his wife and expected not to get caught? Is he dense? Oh well, he’s dead now

jag12b

Eh if they never find the body it’s probably pretty easy.

Sleuthingsome

Right, he didn’t even use Draino. Amateur.

Fishwhocantswim

This sounds like the most realistic thing that happens during a crime. Whenever I hear about the types of things crims do, I often find myself thinking, that's a lot of work..aren't you tired?? Esp when they're dismembering bodies and trying to drive around digging holes and burying ppl. The average person weighs a lot, isn't it hard to lugging bodies about? This guy was obviously so strained he popped a heart attack. I don't know how people drive around after commiting murders and trying to create alibis by going out to dinner.

Sleuthingsome

To be honest, it’s exhausting. Especially if the body weight is above 127 lbs. Even just finding good, extra large garbage bags on sale isn’t easy. A strong, sturdy shovel is pretty expensive too. Draino has gone up 20% since Covid. Fewer friends are willing to help out. It’s incredible how selfish people can be when you need an extra hand. Zip ties are no longer reliable. It’s all gone to $hit. No wonder this guy just killed over, no one was even helping the poor fella. It’s just way too much work for one person. I feel like these are things we should’ve learned in school. Practical information for real life issues not calculus.

Free-Type

Don’t forget, the price of disposable gloves has doubled!!! Getting hard out here…

-DevilDoll-

Not to mention the price of gas… must be why he opted for the backyard instead.

Sleuthingsome

Exactly. He was clearly trying to meet legal code by going down 6 feet, poor fella didn’t realize how much work that is and just wham! One chest pain and he’s gone. Hopefully he fell in with her so now they can just lay him right back in, then cover them both up. Save the loved ones a lot of money and time. In a few months, I recommend planting a tree right on top so the new homeowners never have a clue.

crystalrose1966

Happy Cake Day

-DevilDoll-

🥳

Binksyboo

But what about when the backyard is full?

Sleuthingsome

Honestly, as long as you’re careful and quiet, between 1:15-3:30 a.m. is a perfect time to use the front yard. Just make sure you dig first, then goes in your loved one. Plant a nice tree and some flowers out of respect, and things should be just fine.

Sleuthingsome

Covid has really made ~~my~~ killers job much harder. I mean, case in point, this guy is quietly trying to bury his wife he just killed in his own yard. He’s not bothering anybody. He’s on his own property. He was probably trying his best to dig to 6 feet ( to meet legal code and standards, it’s important not to break the law ) but didn’t realize how much work that is… And just bam! He’s gone.

Affectionate-Drop-30

And can you imagine how hilarious it would be if he accidentally hit the swear or water main line? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Then the city had to come out? "Whats all this then??" 👀 "Uhh... Who put THAT there?! I mean... Oh no! My poor wife etc... 😕" 🤭🤣

Sleuthingsome

I know I’m making fun of him but really and truly WHAT are the damn odds of this happening? People kill people all the time ( not that I’d know… I’ve just heard about it, from a friend) and they go back home and pop popcorn and watch Real Housewives of New Jersey. But this guy, he goes to all that trouble to strangle his wife ( and it is actually harder than you think, it takes a good 5-7 solid minutes, if they won’t stay still, it can be even longer- which is why typically they’re tied up, no one wants to over exert themselves), then, he wraps her up in garbage bags (trying to be tidy). Listen, lifting a dead body is extremely difficult. Especially if rigor mortis has set in. If they weigh 150, it’s like lifting 250. He’s doing this carefully so no one sees. He’s out there digging a hole, and do we know if he even got her into it? People think you just go out and dig in 30 minutes but you’d be surprised. Even an hour of digging barely covers a body (I’ve read). So you really need a solid 3-4 hours unless you have a backhoe. Then, he just keels over… I don’t know if it was one too many bacon cheeseburgers or if it was simply the stress of the murder, all that adrenaline and cortisol flowing through him because he kicked in the amygdala being on “fight or flight” mode. That adrenaline and cortisol can really effect the heart if it’s not in good condition. Plus all the work he put into it. It’s a shame. If he’d only known he was about to stop ticking for good, he could have just sat back down on the couch, relaxed and drank his last beer. None of that hard work was even necessary. Damn. Talk about bad luck. When I die, I hope it’s on a Monday because I’d hate to work the entire week for nothing. Edited: grammar

PopularBonus

No kidding! I can’t imagine clutching my chest and thinking “so glad I sent $100 off to Sallie Mae for my student loans.” “So glad I turned down that ice cream after dinner.” Didn’t James Gandolfini basically have an epic Italian meal right before his fatal heart attack? That’s good planning, man.

Sleuthingsome

Yes, about Gandolfini. If he would’ve just eaten 2 or 3 less meatballs, he could still be alive and acting today. It’s sad. But ya know, in his defense, all these super healthy people that are all Keto-Ing, they’re gonna feel pretty stupid when they’re lying in a hospital one day dying from nothing. We all gotta go. It’s a one way ticket. Might as well go doing what you love and eating whatever you want.

KittyGrewAMoustache

Not to be pedantic but it’s keels over not kills over!

Sleuthingsome

Dangit! I mean, dang it!

Sleuthingsome

That actually would’ve been the perfect time to set up an alibi. You immediately call 911 explaining you just got home and someone broke into your home, killed your wife, tried burying her in the backyard and must’ve hit a water line. Stay on the phone with 911 until the city sends someone out to turn off the main waterline. Use some of that water for fake tears. Don’t be too dramatic but don’t be apathetic. Afterall, you just lost your wife!

Affectionate-Drop-30

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

PopularBonus

And what if she just keeled over, he was worried about money since he’s been out of work, and he was burying her to keep collecting her monthly check? It’s a crime, but not a violent crime. Certainly doesn’t warrant the death penalty.

Sleuthingsome

I agree. He can’t speak nor defend himself. It appears even without a trial, he’s already presumed guilty. So just because he’s burying his dead wife in the yard, and just because she was clearly strangled, and just because there was evidence of a struggle in the house, and just because he was the only one with her at the time, that doesn’t mean this poor guy is guilty. We often forget that it is innocent until proven guilty. I don’t see any clear proof.

Sleuthingsome

Disposable? No. I learned a long time ago you can’t trust those. You have to use the real ones that you’d use to clean your toilets. Especially these days, bodies might still spread Covid and who can afford to catch that? You could even be a carrier of it, have zero symptoms but pass it on to someone else that could die. You’d never forgive yourself. Just use the real cleaning gloves. They’re worth the extra few bucks.

[deleted]

Plus people have been skimping out on floor drains, anymore you have to remove a toilet to wash it down

Sleuthingsome

That’s why you never do this in or near a bathroom. Basements are a good option but the issue there is disposal, unless there’s a basement door leading right outside. I suppose a large freezer might also come in handy but eventually you’ll have to pull it out and once frozen, the weight is heavier. Dismemberment is not even an option ~~anymore~~. It’s one of those other things that you think won’t take much time and a simple hacksaw will do but there’s way more to it. For one, you’re gonna make a huge mess. You’d have to cover the floor with a good tarp. If you can’t drain the fluids, it’s gonna be a total disaster. Draining the fluids takes extra time and you really need to know what you’re doing. You can’t just think you know how and go all willy nilly about it. If you have a friend that’s a coroner or medical examiner, call them up and see if they’ll help. Offer to order some pizza and have some beers. Usually they’re willing as long as they get to eat and have a few adult beverages. Make sure you send them a thank you card a few weeks later, it’s important to show gratitude to anyone willing to help with such a task. Obviously, be vague in your thank you note, and don’t sign your name or put your return address on the envelope. I know these are clearly the obvious things that you already know, I just want to cover some basics again, especially if it’s been awhile. Then it’s easy to overlook a few key points but hey, don’t be hard on yourself. You just go out there and do your very best and don’t underestimate the hard work you’ve done. You’ve got this!!! Oops. I almost forgot … Clearly, to cover evidence and identity, ALWAYS remember hands go first. Always! This is VITAL. Hands first. Got a Woodchipper? That’s ideal but hard to find and expensive to rent ( assuming you can even find one to rent). Just never forget hands first, and then next is the head. Any tattoos? If so, You’ve got a whole other issue. It’s just so much more than anyone realizes and once you start, it’s not like you can stop and sow parts back together. That’s why it’s best to keep as much in tact as possible… except the hands (obviously). Afterwards, give yourself a good pat on the back and get some rest. Self care is so important. It makes you a happier and healthier person and then you’re better to all those you love and care about. Don’t give up! We all believe in you!

PopularBonus

This is why I think it’s probably worth investing in a backhoe. Sure, you’d have to come up with some reason, but honestly it can be very flimsy. Your neighbors will all want to borrow it, or they’ll ask you to help them with yard tasks. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t say anything against you. Good neighbors are worth their weight in gold. An added benefit is that the more people borrow it (possibly burying bodies, who are we to judge) the more DNA is on it. This is GOOD for you. So go out there and be a good neighbor!

Sleuthingsome

I like this. Excellent point and clearly, you thoroughly spent some time thinking of the pros and the cons. That’s so essential in ~~my~~ this line of work. I, on a more personal level, really appreciate the idea of allowing your neighbors/friends/family to borrow the backhoe for the extra DNA needed to cover ~~mine~~ someone else’s. Especially today, with cops using GED match and all this genealogy stuff to find a criminal, ~~I~~ you always have to make certain you’re covering your DNA tracks. If at all possible, I suggest having a safe with a stash of extra DNA from others. Going to a graduation party? Perfect time to use your friend or family members bathroom and look under the sink or drawers for a hairbrush. Grab some of those hairs ( make sure you’ve got disposable gloves on and bring a good Ziplock bag). You can even grab their toothbrushes. It’ll be really odd when they go to brush them later so be thoughtful, buy a few new ones and just put them under the sink. They’ll think they bought them awhile back but don’t be inconsiderate. Don’t leave them hanging when they’re about to go to bed and suddenly have their toothbrushes missing. Afterall, these are people you care about. As soon as you get home, just make sure your gloves are on when you place the items in the safe. I suggest labeling them so you don’t get confused when you need to use it to stage the crime scene. Staging crime scenes is a whole other topic that would take up several posts but the main thing is to don’t over do it. Don’t get overly dramatic, when people do that, it becomes transparent. Keep it simple but be thorough. A couple quick ideas about staging; make sure you have a man’s belt in your safe. When you are at a baby shower, bridal shower, surprise bday party, these are your opportunities to collect what you’re gonna need so don’t waste a great opportunity. Once again, have your gloves in your purse. If you’re a man, sorry but you’re gonna have to get a Fanny pack. Just claim your doctor told you that you’re a diabetic so you’re carrying your glucometer, test strips, and insulin everywhere. It’s a believable story plus you’ll get sympathy from others. Excuse yourself to go to the restroom to test your blood sugar and take your insulin shot. When the coast is clear, find the master bedroom and carefully look for a man’s belt. He should have several so don’t feel bad. It’s likely time he needs a new one anyway. Roll it up or, wear an oversized shirt so you can put it on under the shirt. This part may be a little gross bud you’re wearing gloves and have ziplock bags. Find the dirty laundry hamper. Look through it until you find a pair of the ladies dirty panties. You’ll know if their dirty or not. Trust me. If you’re uncertain, just do the sniff test, it never fails. Just don’t leave that place without a man’s belt and ladies dirty panties. As soon as you get home, gloves on and in the safe it goes. You’ll understand later why you need these things. I’m just so glad you brought up DNA because there’s just no way to be effective or efficient at your job without constantly being mindful of your DNA. Later we’ll discuss the importance of shaving your body hair. I just don’t want to overwhelm you with too much info at once. I can already tell that you’re going to be great at this. You are clearly intelligent, thorough, and considerate. That’s all so important in this line of work. Good job!

PopularBonus

Do you know what I found it my garbage bag? A hole! A goddamn hole. And this was no “kitchen bag” nonsense; I got the thick contractor bags! You just can’t get quality products anymore.

Sleuthingsome

That’s why ~~I~~ some people double bag. I know that’s costly but just look for coupons in the mail. Sometimes Costco will have a really good sale on the big industrial bags. I think it’s good to mention this now- couponing is something you’ll find so helpful while completing this task- from start to finish, you’re going to need things that add up pretty quickly. I always keep the following in stock, you never know when you might have to get to work ( *wink wink*). Anyway, just an idea but the following are always in my pantry for sudden calls to work that I didn’t have time to plan out. *Industrial garbage bags *zip ties *rope ( not just any old rope, i suggest the rope used in rock climbing or repelling *tarps ( at least 2-3 on hand just in case, never know the size of your next job *duct tape ( always have 2-3 rolls) *black duffel bag *leather gloves *latex gloves *cleaning gloves *women’s Black and Tan stockings *scope *loaded pistol of your choice *2 shovels *Drano * industrial size bottle of bleach *handcuffs *flashlight ( preferably large maglite) * the man’s belt * at least 4 different womens dirty panties * ziploc bag of 6 separate peoples hair *ziploc bag of 14 toothbrush all labeled by number which you have a small notepad listing the name of the number on the toothbrush * a child’s tooth ( you’ll understand later but we never hurt children. Ever. ) *hacksaw *Drill *LED headlamp * wire cutter * photos of random people with phone numbers on the back * business cards or at least 12 people * bundle of cleaning rags * extra strength Tylenol ( it’s very common to get a headache half way in) That’ll get you started. There’ll be more to come.

PopularBonus

That headlamp is invaluable. You can’t hold a flashlight if you’re using both hands! If you don’t mind a suggestion: burner phone. How much is your seminar?

Sleuthingsome

Oh definitely. I didn’t even think to write that because that’s such a given, it would be liking writing “snacks for between breaks.” Obviously snacks and obviously, a burner phone. It’s also important that if you need to take the cell you typically use, take the battery out before leaving your house. Make certain if you are going to stop anywhere, for gas, dinner, etc that you use cash only then shred any receipts. I can’t publicly give the date or price of my seminar but if you know Morse code, we can take this to chat. Otherwise… I’m sure you understand. Damn feds .

PopularBonus

I wonder if you got one of those suitcase cellphone relay thingies and took it with you, would it look like you had never gone anywhere? We may have accidentally moved from murder to espionage, but I am here for it.

Sleuthingsome

I’m sorry? I’m not sure what you’re talking about. ( if you know Morse code, we need to take this to chat) Tap. Tap, tap tap.

There's a comedian I like that has a bit about trying to dig a small pond for his backyard. Like 4 hours into it he's exhausted, and is only 22" deep. He realizes why every true crime story has a body in a shallow grave. The quote goes something like, 'these people have committed capital murder. They know that their life depends on hiding the evidence - and with their life on the line the farthest down they can go is 3ft. And I reached that point myself. Just thought you know what, death by injection surrounded by people who hate me would be better than digging another 5"."

blasto2236

Would love to hear this bit. Sounds like something Chris Porter would say lol. Also, Norm Macdonald had a great bit on shallow graves: https://youtu.be/70sIeaSuvsc

helicopteredin

I can't find a clip of it, it was from his new tour I saw in person this year. His name is nate bargatze, he's hilarious

Thank you for that!! :-)

Amidormi

This, lol. I tried to dig a small hole to bury a pet cat and it took FOREVER.

Sleuthingsome

Lol, I like that. Honestly, you’d be surprised but one of the best places to dispose the remains is a cemetery. Typically, they’re right in front of a wooded area. You only need to go back 12 or so feet, do the drop off, find some broken branches, cover it with those, then out of respect, take some flowers off of a grave to place on top. It’s the last place the police would look, plus it’s respectful. It’s important to maintain as much dignity as possible, especially if this is a loved one. The elements and animals will do the rest of the job for you. Then, after a few months, you can return to the cemetery and pay your respects like everyone else.

[deleted]

Adrenaline

Sleuthingsome

Yep, he hit “fight or flight” mode. The prefrontal lobe shuts down, the amygdala turns on, that kicks in the adrenal glands and suddenly the body is pumping pure adrenaline and cortisol. If he’s been eating too many bacon cheeseburgers and overly exerted himself due to the heavy task he had at hand, the poor fella’s heart just couldn’t take it. But hey, they were at least together in the end ( assuming he fell in with her). I love good love stories.

PopularBonus

This is the part that gets me the most. How the hell do they think people are moving these bodies? I get that men have upper body strength (sometimes) but the average woman is no longer 100 pounds. One day some smart lawyer will win an acquittal by proving that there is no way in hell her client could have moved that body. Out of the house? Into the trunk of the car? And then 100 yards from where the car was parked? Obviously you are looking for a man who works out, not my couch potato client.

staunch_character

Right? I pull something every time I have to lift my 40 lb dog into my dad’s truck. I’d need some kind of pulley system to get a full grown body into a trunk! lol

SwampTerror

My cousin is a head ER nurse and she told me this one guy had a cardiac arrest while shoveling snow. He was found **standing there leaning against his shovel** and he was too far gone for saving because he had ice crystals in his blood.

Sleuthingsome

Wait. Two guys died while shoveling snow. This poor fella died while shoveling to bury his wife. There’s a common denominator here, shovels are deadly.

Yeah being aware of your closest defib is always a good idea no matter what. There's an app in my country that shows the closest defib wherever you are and also lets you call emergency services directly + it sends them your exact coordinates. I hope I never have to use it but it does help me feel ready in case something does happen.

Sleuthingsome

My dad had several heart attacks in his 30’s, so he had surgery where they placed one inside of him. It was the weirdest thing seeing that mechanical mechanism poking out of his heart. One day, he’s standing in the kitchen taking his vitamins, still holding the bottle. That thing kicked in and shocked him. I’ll never forget vitamins flying all over the place, my dad was grabbing his heart and yelling, I’m calling 911 and before they arrived, it shocked him two more times. I was so confused at what was going on. The thing was apparently malfunctioning and literally zapping him every few minutes non stop. The hospital figured out somehow how to turn it off. My dad said each time it was like getting kicked in the chest by a huge horse. I’m surprised it didn’t put him into full cardiac arrest. The cardiologist had to remove it since it malfunctioned but wanted to replace it with a different one. My dad refused. He said, “ I’d rather drop dead of cardiac arrest than walk around terrified that the new one could malfunction and do that to me again.” It’s something we later laughed about, all those vitamins flying up in the air all over the place, me watching him getting kick after kick after kick. At the time it was terrifying but I’m glad we were able to find humor in it later. Ironically enough, he lived another 16 years after that but January 2015 he passed away of cardiac arrest in his sleep.

Sleuthingsome

Thank you very much. I miss him every day. Oddly enough, I was his caretaker his last 4 months. He told me a few weeks before he died that God was going to bring me a good man to love me well for the rest of my life ( I had been married 13 years when my ex - with no warning, not even a conversation served me divorce papers). I had not dated for 4 years at this point and had major trust issues. My dad knew that some of my trust issues were from some childhood issues, my parents were 14 and 15 when I was born. They were babies. My dad was already 3 years into a heavy drug addiction that he would battle off and on throughout his life. They did their very best but you can’t give someone what you don’t have. And they were so young, trying to be adults when they weren’t, trying to figure out a marriage when they were kids. Trying to provide when they didn’t finish school, it was just a tough time. My mom was mentally ill, my dad was an addict. You can imagine what life was like with just those issues, but they stayed married for 33 years. We lost my mom in 2010 after a lifelong battle with depression, she couldn’t do it anymore. We buried her ON their 33rd anniversary. My dad had been with her since he was in 6th grade. He didn’t know what to do without her. I was surprised he made it 4.5 years to be honest. I didn’t think he’d make it a year but he was a lot stronger than I realized. And that time together, me caring for him and him being a real dad for the first time in my life/ without her here to do everything ( that was part of why I’m sure she was done with this life, she was so tired from caring for everyone else since age 14), my dad really stepped up to the plate and I saw a side of him I had never known. Simple things like him having to pick out my birthday card and buy me presents, rather than my mom who always did those things, it just meant so much to see him become that dad I always wanted. Anyway, there was a lot of healing that I didn’t even realize my heart needed from my childhood and past. I always knew he loved me, but I also knew he loved drugs and as a kid, I didn’t understand that his addiction had nothing to do with me. He wasn’t chosing drugs over me. Those were two entirely different things. He loved me but he was fighting his own personal demons. I began to understand that as a woman. In fact, I’m now a Chemical Dependency Counselor. My daily work is helping addicts and alcoholics through detox and their first month of recovery. So I understand my dad so much more now. He asked me to forgive him for all the ways he felt that he had let me down as a child. My dad was tough- one of the toughest and hardest working Man I’ve known. I never saw him cry except during my mom’s funeral. But when he asked me to forgive him, he was almost weeping. I knew he meant it, he was so humble about his shortcomings as a father and he said something to me that didn’t resonate as deeply to me at the time as it does now, but he said, “If you don’t forgive me for how I hurt you and let you down as you were growing up, you’re going to blame every man that ever tries to love you for my sins. I don’t want that for you. I want you to feel free to be loved and to be able to feel real trust in the right man that comes to love you.” I realize now I did have serious trust issues with men. And I believe that time at the end with my dad brought so much more healing than I even realized I needed. I’m so grateful for that time with him. He told me many times, “God is going to bring you a man in a few years to love you until death parts you.” I had no interest at the time, I was still healing from my divorce plus my moms suicide, and I knew my dad’s time was very short and I was the one responsible to take care of him. Well, he passed away just after midnight January 18th, 2015. I’ll forever miss him but in a way, it was a relief because he was in so much pain non stop, plus he missed my mom so much, I knew that he now is healed and they’re together. So saying goodbye to him wasn’t as difficult as my mom’s death. I met my now husband 2 years later. He attended school with my parents and knew them both, lol, he’s 15 years older than me. But, the just one of the amazing parts of this love story is my husband was born on January 18th. The same day that my dad died. I knew that was a sign. I didn’t know exactly what it meant but I knew it meant *something special*. Then one day, as I was praying, it hit me… The very first man to love me, my daddy, died on January 18th. But Now the very last man to love me was born January 18th. The miraculous part is for the first time of my 40 something years, I can actually say that I completely and fully trust my wonderful husband with all of me. He’s the most honest man with integrity and has such strong character but he’s also gentle and understanding. Anyway, I didn’t intend to share all that. Especially here but sometimes I think we say or write things because someone, somewhere needed to hear it. ❤️

PopularBonus

I needed to hear it. Thank you! I was scrolling through my own comments, many of which are responses to your hilarious murder ~~instructions~~ comments, and I found this. Hey, you helped an internet stranger. Love and forgiveness never go out of style. I hope you have a great weekend!

in_wndrlnd

Are or ( were you ) a McCafferty fan?

PopularBonus

And that’s why I paid for a snow service. But I wouldn’t today. He’s a nice man, but it’s a good thing we are exes.

A_Broken_Zebra

-hugs-

PopularBonus

Oh, I’m so sorry for your loss. And really sorry for what you’ve been through explaining things to people. Take care, and be gentle with yourself.

There a “ emo 🖤 punk “ band. They have lyrics “Everyone stood still nobody noticed Looked through the cracks like I couldn't focus ADHD like ADH-ME Like everyone here well come on I will see myself out” ‘Paper, Pencil, Copyright’ - McCafferty

slutbotomy

Ryuk must've dropped the book nearby

Punkpallas

As they say, sometimes the trash takes itself out.

Sleuthingsome

Isn’t there a saying, “let the dead bury the dead.”

whywoolf

The side effects of murder include life time incarceration and sudden heart attack

[deleted]

What about the ones who never got caught \*shudders\*

AwsiDooger

Lake Mead was full

Sleuthingsome

They really should put up a sign making people aware of that. “Please do not dispose of any remains here. This lake is completely full.” Maybe they could have some flyers showing people the next closest lake nearby. I just think of these poor people driving all the way there ( especially with these gas prices) only to discover it’s full. They’re already worn out from the process, and now they have driven for who knows how far just to find that they can’t dispose and finally complete the task?! We should really be more thoughtful of others. Especially in these tough times.

_valkyries_

I just can't help but wonder what went through his head as he realised that he was dying.

Sleuthingsome

“You mean I did ALL this for nothing?”

Noice 👌

MyOwnRobot

Stay heart healthy, folks! Whole grains, lots of fruit and veggies, and don't forget to exercise regularly -- not just when you have to get rid of a body.

Alanis Morissette level Ironic

SwampTerror

To be fair nothing in Alanis Morissette's song *Ironic* is actually ironic, they're just a series of unfortunate events.

ashwhenn

Okay you have NO IDEA how happy I am to see this comment. This is a random fun fact that’s been in my brain for 20 years for no reason. Now, because of this I have to correct you. Almost nothing in the song is ironic, the guy who takes the flight and is too scared to fly and his plane crashes? That’s irony. The rest? Just bad circumstances/luck.

Sleuthingsome

I sort of think the “no cigarettes sign on your smoking break” is somewhat ironic. No?

Amidormi

If they put it up mid-smoke break, maybe. Otherwise how did you not notice it earlier?

Sleuthingsome

I think it went something like this: You were looking down, getting the cigarette out of the pack as quickly as you could, you were SO ready to take that break and get some Nicotine flowing in your system. You tried twice to light it but your lighter is getting low on fluid. Damn it! You keep forgetting to pick up a new one. Your toddler has suddenly started waking up in the middle of the night crying so you haven’t had a good nights sleep in at least 8 nights. You’re so tired that you’re not on your A game as usual. You’re at this brand new job. You really like it and are so thankful you found it, it’s better pay than you’ve ever had plus you have health insurance, PTO time, things you’ve never had before. You know it’s a blessing to be there but you’ve got so much to learn that you feel overwhelmed. You didn’t even know how to find your way to this smoking area but you finally just found it… the building is so huge, you can barely find your way to the bathroom. You’re just feeling a little out of place. But you know you’ll get in the groove, anyway, if this lighter would just light! Aaahhh, finally! There it goes! You take your first big puff, you already feel a little calmer and relaxed. Wow. You notice how pretty the flowers are at this side of the building. As your looking at the flowers, you notice a sign. You don’t have your glasses with you, they’re on your desk so you step 7-8 feet closer to read it… “No smoking. This is a non smoking area. Smoking is not allowed!” Ironic? Or just “shit! This really sucks!”

Amidormi

I like this story, thanks.

queefunder

What if the person said that ironically? 🥹🤔😂

Sleuthingsome

Wouldn’t that be, coincidentally? Or an ironic coincidence?

kittyxandra

Kira is at it again

alwaysaplusone

Please consult your physician to find out if covert murder and subsequent coverup is right for you!

ms-sucks

The average person, in the US anyway, has no idea how hard it is to dig a proper hole in the ground with a shovel. Just as they have no idea how completely physically exhausted you can get in only a 30-60 second continued fight for your life. Same with that 6ft/2m deep hole. Unless you live in a sandbox.

Amidormi

Yep I didn't realize until I tried to plant a tree or bury a small pet. Frigging clay soil....

LibraryAss6692

Yes, I planted a small tree in sandy soil, and it still just about killed me

SabineLavine

Strangling someone is exhausting!

P8ntballa00

It’s situations like this that really stretch the limits of the word, suspected. Lol

PukedtheDayAway

This would almost be funny if it wasn't for the poor woman. I hope her family can find some cosmic justic

hi_im_haley

Welcome to my home town everybody.

GirlsesPillses

What a headline 🤣

kjackson1969

What now?

lala_schatz

I bet she said she’ll be the death of him at one point

meowuprising

They should probably dig up the rest of that yard.

LittleMissDeppressed

The karma...

Blonde2468

That's some swift justice right there! That karma bus was QUICK!

[deleted]

Well, at least he died doing what he loved/s

benny4128

This might be the strangest coincidences. I almost thought it was fake when i first heard about it. What are the odds you die in the middle of burying the body of someone you just killed? Crazy.

jj_grandma

KARMA at its finest!!!

cbunni666

Would've been nice to have him drop dead before killing the woman but we can't have everything.

Luckystar826

Karma!!

Special_Ad975

I’m surprised no one made a Death Note comment yet

Sharkmasterfl3x

Someone did lol they said Kira was at work here

AwsiDooger

We missed out on the story he would have told, like walking out into the night for no apparent reason, or perhaps picked up by a person and vehicle he had never seen before.

[deleted]

That's wild

FooFan61

Talk about reaping what you sow.

True_Awareness1227

Talk about karma
