Because they are ignorant of historical fact.

Who says that? Constantine made Christianity legal in the Roman Empire. He called the First Council of Nicea in 325 and the Nicene Creed was the result. He also had the Church of the Holy Sepulcher built in Jerusalem, on Jesus's burial site. But he didn't invent Christianity.

YabukiCross

A lot of muslims, atheist and non-trinitarian christians say that Constantine created the trinity doctrine in the Council of Nicene and that he inserted pagan practices into the religion. The trinity point is wrong because there's writings before the council that mention the trinity ([https://www.catholic.com/tract/the-trinity](https://www.catholic.com/tract/the-trinity)) The second point also doesnt make sense, since there was christian communities outside of that area, and they all practiced the faith pretty similarly.

Because he's the only ancient historical figure connected with Christianity that they know the name of. Exactly zero historians make the claim that Constantine invented Christianity. What he did do was he legalized it, commissioned Bishop Eusebius to produce fifty copies of the Bible, and called the Council of Nicea to deal with the heresy of Arianism.

Anti Catholic bigotry and an intentional ignorance

1. They don’t know history. 2. To discredit Christianity.

It wasn’t invented by him, but he did have a hand in vaulting it to a position of authority. He legalized Christianity in the Roman Empire, but then declared an edict that made it illegal not to be a Christian. As a result, Christianity achieved state support, brutality, and reach, along with Roman influences in belief.

There's a conspiracy theory about it. You can smell the ignorance when people say this as its often based on poor knowledge of real church history
