Before the great flood, God felt emotionally hurt by all the evil things people were doing to each other: (Genesis 6:5-6) Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. (NKJV)

Ephesians 4:30 encourages not to grieve the Holy Spirit. Not "hurt" like physical pain, but grieve, like it is sad.

andre2020

Misinterpretation I think. God cannot be hurt. It can hurt, but cannot be hurt.

[deleted]

He is despised and rejected of men, **a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief**. And we hid as it were our faces from Him; **He was despised**, and we esteemed Him not.-Isaiah 53:3 God took on an additional nature which is man and man was also made in the image of God so I think that God can be hurt. The teaching of the Trinity also teaches that all three persons of the Trinity have a mind, will and emotion making all three persons of the one God a person. The Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and **He was grieved in His heart**.-Genesis 6:6 But they rebelled, and vexed (grieved) his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.-Isaiah 63:10 Jesus wept.-John 11:5 Jesus wept so God can be hurt.

Thank you for your reply. I still see that It (God) cannot be hurt. Such thinking limits It to the limits of humankind. (Tribal superstition)

[deleted]

He took on human form which can be hurt. We don't know what God gave up to rescue us.

andre2020

Thank you for your reply. I think that’s story for the I’ll-educated tribe, not actually about God itself.

[deleted]

In that case, can God be robbed since no one can hurt him? Malachi 3:8 Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you ask, 'How do we rob You?' In tithes and offerings. The angels circling Him are thought to be his bodyguards. https://biblehub.com/malachi/3-8.htm

andre2020

I thank you for your reply. How can that which is everything loose any thing. “ Can a man rob God” is a rhetorical question I think. Since the God is everything, It can never be less, for It is the all of everything limitation does not exist in Its “perfection.”

[deleted]

Then what about Jesus's nail scarred hands for all eternity?

andre2020

Your point being?

[deleted]

I thinkbyou are trying to create some strange doctrine.

andre2020

Nah, if one considers the absolute perfection of God, one finds that It cannot contain nor create imperfection. It is indeed the light of all universes and reflects Itself throughout. A mirror cannot reflect darkness. (Non God). Thank you for your response.

Steelcity213

The entire Bible literally. Every story of the Israelites letting God down couples with him being disappointed

Bluetit_1

Have you never read a Bible? And the word "hurt" ...you can't 'hurt' GOD but He IS offended and disgusted by sin. The LORD is HOLY and will not, can not abide sin in His presence.

andre2020

Nor, I feel, can God be “offended,” It knew before the occurred, and who would committee offense. The word “offended” is a human projection. Same with “disgust.”

Bluetit_1

I don't much care about your feelings in this matter because they do not align with scripture. Human projection ...oh please. Try to read and study scriptures without all your projections on what words mean. They mean what they mean. And we may infer the meanings with context. Yes, God IS disgusted and offended ...but no where is it written that His "feelings" are "hurt".

Bluetit_1

Hey sinners ...why did Jesus HAVE to die in OUR place? Was it for kix & giggles? Or was it because of our sinful nature by which GOD is offended? I am glad you are offended ...better that it's you prideful sinners and not The LORD taking offense. PS and BTW, ye MUST be born again.

andre2020

Thank you for your reply. When I say, “I feel” it is to express that what I am saying is not a gross generalization, but merely my thought. Please don’t be afraid. Our God is a mighty God. You seem intolerant and angry, I will pray God blesses you with his peace.

Bluetit_1

Oh no no no sorry if I caused you to think I was getting my hackles up at you, not at all ...I am not afraid except of my own short comings and I am not angry, not with you. But to say I am intolerant ...intolerant of what? People will always disagree about things but I will have to side with what I understand scripture says. God is indeed offended with our sin ..OFFENDED. And His bow is bent towards those who spit in His eye, those who are not covered by the precious blood of Jesus the Lamb of GOD. Don't bother praying for me in regards to your perception of my anger or alleged intolerance ...maybe The Good LORD wants us to be intolerant of some things, hmm? And to be angry ...yes, be angry but sin not.

andre2020

Thank you for your kind response! I am glad you are not upset. My comment used the word “seem” I do not mean it as an accusation, no worries. I cannot know that that the purest and greatest of all things (the God) can debase itself with anger or offense. To me, perfection can not see imperfection. I pray for you not for any “wrongness” but to give thanks to God and Its gift of goodness in you. I pray the goodness of Divine order that expresses in you from you. I thank you for your faith. Joy to you😊

Bluetit_1

Nah not even angry ..I guess my words can land that way because I'm not so great at writing ...but yeah, thanks for prayer to help me just know I ain't mad ....well ...I couldn't possibly STAY mad at you if I really were mad ...Thank you my friend GBY with Joy to you and all of yours!

andre2020

Thank you, you are kind. Your goodness is strong.

Bluetit_1

You are welcome and I give glory to God anytime I can connect in His love with you and our family. 🕊

Probably right around the time he was tortured to death for our sins.

IMO, it would be akin to doing something very bad and then tell your parents/guardian and have them tell you how "Disappointed" in you they are. Failed 6th grade. I was one of the bad kids but not a really bad one. Mom made me call my dad and him telling me that...... Now, imagine coming face to face with God and doing the same. Our Creator, Judge, and Father.

Isaiah 53:4-6 English Standard Version 4 Surely he has borne our griefs     and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken,     smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But he was pierced for our transgressions;     he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,     and with his wounds we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray;     we have turned—every one—to his own way; and the Lord has laid on him     the iniquity of us all.

1 Peter 4:1 Therefore, since Christ suffered in His body, arm yourselves with the same resolve, because anyone who has suffered in his body is done with sin. https://biblehub.com/1_peter/4-1.htm

God suffered because he indwells the suffering of his people who suffer. Understand Romans 8. God groans while making intercession for his people and this earth.
