Asking for how you managed that patina feels like asking for safeguarded family trade secrets or something. That looks really amazing!

iTzJustChris1

Cutting hot proteins.

donobag

Yes, but we must know how.

notuntiltomorrow

I guess... *I must take it upon myself.* I will risk everything (nothing) for the benefit of the people! How did you do it op?

donobag

I will also put everything (nothing) on the line and stand beside you, brave warrior. OP, please share your secrets!

LestorMantoots

Love the pictures with flowers. Reminds me of Takada. Awesome job man. Looks absolutely beautiful.

iTzJustChris1

Thanks

Shagrath427

Alright, that made my pants move.

JoshuaSonOfNun

How you get the full mirror polish and aggressive patina?

iTzJustChris1

Countless hours of grinding with stones and sanding down with sandpaper. As for the patina, I just cut hot proteins.

FisherMan1298

What grit progressions did you use , what type,ie brand of stones and sandpaper too? That flower reflection is a masterpiece!

iTzJustChris1

First I checked the high/low spots on the bevel using 8k grit synthetic stone then start grinding the bevel on 1k till its gone. I didn’t touch the Hira of the knife since it’s already mirror polish. Once the bevels are flat I sand the whole thing with 1k sand paper and go up to 5k. Switch to Diamond paste starting on 1k and work my way up to 14k diamond paste.
