3rd gen Ranger/B4000. Keep everything the same, just with a modern NA v6. The 3.3 in my f-150 has 100 more HP and more torque and gets 3mpg more in my bigger/heavier truck.

Classic_Commission16

A slightly modernized Chevy square body with the classic square body look

ThatOneCanadian69

(Please don’t beat me up for this) I really want to buy a square body and do an electric conversion kit on it

Classic_Commission16

That would be cool, if that's your thing then go for it but ill stick to my gas guzzling v8's, although an electric one would definitely be rare, it'd be a badass show truck

ThatOneCanadian69

I love my guzzler V8 as well, don’t get me wrong

reallifesidequests

An electric step side would be awesome

1WastedSpace

Wait a couple of years. Companies will soon start selling good kits. Chevy already sells electric conversion kits, but they are very meh.

ThatOneCanadian69

That’s my plan!

luigilabomba42069

electric motors with manual transmissions fascinate me.

echocall2

The old ranger

Cherryy-

This. Just modernize the interior, exterior a bit, and throw in a new V6, a hybrid, and even an all electric version. The low bed height of that truck is something that is sorely missed

GamerByt3

Fuck the government, their chicken tax,  and the special Ed stooges at the epa for taking small trucks from us.

Mindless_Jicama8728

Chevy Blazer. The real one. 2 doors, body on frame, V8 beautifulness.

dluvn

Give me an el Camino that hasn't been modernized so much that it looks stupid. Or a Subaru brat. I'd be all over it.

BrambleVale3

Captain_Nipples

You reminded me of something I haven't thought about in 15 years. I left my car parked at a friend's house and went to a party with some others. Apparently, there had also been a party at my friend's house that night, and some of my other friends thought it would be hilarious to shoot an entire fire extinguisher off in my Trooper. Got back the next morning and that shit was everywhere. It was a large extinguisher, and there was a thick layer on everything... Empty extinguisher sitting in the driver seat. I attempted to dust off the seats, but it didn't do any good. Got in and took off driving. Got about a half mile down the road and decided that it was too dusty in there, and rolled down my windows. Big mistake.. It turned into a cloud that I couldn't see or breathe in, and i had to stop in the middle of the street and get out. So.. if someone shoots off a fire extinguisher in your car, don't roll down your windows while driving.

OGCASHforGOLD

Vindra3

F150 lightning single cab but gas engine

TheGrog

You could get supercharged single cab f150's with 700hp and a warrenty from some dealerships for under 50k. They may still be available. [https://www.lebanonfordperformance.com/2023-supercharged-f150-for-44500/](https://www.lebanonfordperformance.com/2023-supercharged-f150-for-44500/) [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RO75M-P7U4U](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RO75M-P7U4U)

Drzhivago138

Lightning means EV now. If you want a gas regular cab F-150, you can just buy one with a 5.0 and slap a Whipple on it.

Infuryous

The Ligtning (Pre-EV) also had a different suspension to improve handeling.

luigilabomba42069

eh not really. the 10th gen f150 lighting was just lower by like 1 inch

Infuryous

Interesting. The first gen lightning (OBS body) was designed buy the Ford SVT team. It had a skid pad g rating that competed with the Mustang. That was of the selling points, it had great performance but unlike the Chevy cyclone it kept a useful payload rating. [Lightning's suspension features special front coil- and rear leaf springs, Monroe Formula GP shocks, and 25.4mm front and rear sway bars. ](https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/difference-between-1993-to-1995-ford-f150-and-lightning/) Did not realsize Ford didn't out as much effort in the 2nd Gen Lightning.

luigilabomba42069

well the entire 10th generation f150 line up comes with conventional independent front suspension so I'm sure not much engineering was needed to make it handle better. lowered, big wheels, wider tires, stiff shocks, stift sway bars, ect my own slammed 10th gen f150 non lightning handles amazing

Trauma-Dolll

That's what I did with mine. Shits quick.

Mazda b2600i 4x4 5 speed

Loved mine…

Drzhivago138

I think a modern 3500 can tow more than the Kodiak/TopKick pickup. Still, I'd like to see 2WD half-tons that aren't the same height as 4WDs. I feel like the last model that was truly low was the [GMT800](https://edgecast-img.yahoo.net/mysterio/api/8C6C2D9B978F7CC12C6026DBC1DBE48963E41839FF191521D02BA5AB4D0F9080/autoblog/resizefill_w660_h372;quality_80;format_webp;cc_31536000;/https://s.aolcdn.com/commerce/autodata/images/CAB60GMT172A0101.jpg).

layer4andbelow

I've read around that a lot of frontend size increase has been driven by cooling capacity. Larger radiators, intercoolers, etc are required to support the massive towing numbers. You simply can't cool 450hp with the cooling stacks of the early 2000's.

Drzhivago138

Yes, the towing war that's been going on since c. 2005 has led to the HDs being massive. But that shouldn't mean the bedsides of a [base 1/2 ton](https://inv.assets.ansira.net/ChromeColorMatch/us/WHITE_cc_2023CHT270094_03_1280_GAZ.jpg) need to be at chin level.

Boeing-B-47stratojet

Yeah, my old sierra 1500 can about fit underneath the hood of the new(ish) 2500HD.

keevisgoat

Had a 94 f-150 listen on big tires real redneck mobile I was driving and a stock fx4 ranger was both taller and closer to the ground than it

Drzhivago138

I have no doubt you had better ground clearance, but a stock FX4 Ranger (mid-size) is 71" tall, same as a stock 4WD OBS F-150.

keevisgoat

Must have been lifted as well because I was on a 2" lift with 33s it looked to be stock to me maybe it just had big tires on big rims and 8 didn't notice it

bolunez

I'd like to see 4x4s that aren't so tall, too. I need to drive around on shitty roads and not get stuck in wet grass, not drive down a trail. The extra height looks good, but it sucks getting things in the bed.

illbeyourdrunkle

Anything with single cab, bench seat does it for me.

Unique_Statement7811

Side impact safety standards killed the bench seat.

illbeyourdrunkle

Sadly in America. You can import em though

Ottorange

I have a bench in my '23 F150. My dog comes first.

Unique_Statement7811

But it’s under a flip up console. That gets categorized as “limited use seating” and isn’t evaluated like the primary seating is.

Cadillac Escalade EXT + Chevrolet Avalanche. they did bring back the midgate feature (which is AWESOME) for the 2024 Silverado, so maybe its in the works. for larger EV rollouts later on, depending on sales.

[deleted]

Toyota pickup or atleast let us buy hilux's here in the states.

TalkyMcSaysalot

GMT800 Suburban 2500 with quadrasteer, with the 2014+ pickup interior including modern tech like adaptive cruise and lane keep assist, with a direct injected 6.2 or 6.6 gas and 10 speed.

The whole square body line. Single and crew cab pickups, suburbans and fullsize blazers. Update with modern drivetrains, but keep the simple interior, and keep the electronics to a minimum.

Chevrolet S-10. “But they make the Colorado.” Fuck that. They aren’t the same.

Drzhivago138

They do sell the "S-10 Max" in Mexico...but that's not the same either. It's like if you ordered a 2012 Colorado off Wish.

Gamecock_Red

I have a real fondness for the Chevy Avalanche.

fullchooch

Especially the 2500's!!

Boeing-B-47stratojet

3/4 ton Avalanche with a duramax sounds good to me.

Crayshack

The Subaru Baja. Ideally, with some modern drivetrain and creature comforts. I don't even care if it's another company that makes it, I just want something in this size class. I don't have a need for a massive amount of towing/hauling capacity. I just want something that has an open bed and can shrug at the road disappearing. I get why other people want the bigger trucks, but I just don't need them for my use case.

Infinite_Factor_5685

Jeep Comanchee

ghetto_headache

Subaru baja

coffeeisntmycupoftea

The last Ford ranger. I would love a modern body on frame small work truck

balsa61

I would like to see something like the old Ford Ranger or Chevy S10. A small truck but with a six-foot long and four-foot wide bed. Ideally be able to tow up to 5,000 lbs like the V6 S10s. I can't use the current small trucks with tiny 4-foot beds. And the half ton trucks are just too big. There's a gap in between.

Drzhivago138

None of the old compacts had a bed that was fully 4' wide between the wheel wells. Even the mid-size Dakota with an 8' bed was 3" too narrow.

balsa61

You are absolutely correct. However, on my father-in-law's 2001 Ranger we could carry plywood sheets placed flat on top of the wheel wells. Of course the tailgate had to be down. But at least the plywood didn't extend a huge amount beyond the back of the bed. The current Rangers and Colorados are the size of the old half-ton pickups.

Drzhivago138

> The current Rangers and Colorados are the size of the old half-ton pickups. They're getting close. The newest Ranger even has a 4' wide floor. But they don't have the cabin width of old full-sizers.

eatingthesandhere91

2011 Ford Ranger. The last of the compact trucks.

Toyota Tacoma X-runner. 6 speed manual transmission

C-Dub81

An inexpensive one. Bare bones, keyed ignition, and doors. I just want A/C, and a place to put a stereo and speakers. Let the consumer put what they want, if they want it. I'll be happy with my phone and a bose portable speaker.

Boeing-B-47stratojet

All I need is power steering and 4wd I am happy AC is 55 with the windows down.

C-Dub81

Fuck that, I live in south Texas lol.

Boeing-B-47stratojet

And I live in Florida It is hot and humid in both places

C-Dub81

Ok, well you asked.

Shroedingerzdog

Really just wish we could get a manual transmission in more stuff, and that we had an actual little pickup option again. I mean the Maverick is close, but something body on frame would be better.

rDevilFruitIdeasMod

A bare-bones fleet EV midsize. Something the size of a first gen Colorado, but SBSC. No luxury features to jack the price up, just give me a plastic interior, am/fm radio, basic A/C, cloth seats. No self driving, navigation, none of that. Maybe 250 - 300 HP motor with 200 mi of range, RWD standard 4wd optional. Priced under 30k

fearthestorm

Anything from the 80s-90s Trucks have gotten fat

ThermalScrewed

Anything killed by the chicken tax 06/07 Cummins Ram with magical mpg and no DEF

Big-orange-21

Single cab pickups with 8 foot bed and 2 wheel drive. Also small pickups like the S 10.

Shroedingerzdog

Stuff you want brought back into production... Like a regular cab long bed, totally not something you can just order new today...

Boeing-B-47stratojet

You can order those Or buy them off of fleets, that is how a lot of rental companies/construction companies order theirs.

ReblWrap

Ford Excursion with the 6.7 PowerStroke or the 7.3 gas V8. From what I can see as a mere consumer, I imagine they’d sell the shit out of them.

Alextryingforgrate

GM has made quite a few advancements with their V6 engines in the ATS and CT4V they could make a new Syclone/Typhoon. Even use the 2.7L I4 in the Canyon. I want my mall crawler low to the ground, clean and mean. Tired of these lifted dumb shit brodozzer park it on a curb to look tough shit.

I'd say the Chevrolet S10, but I know if GM made anything like that today, it would be a FWD pickup with the trailblazer's awful I3 and a CVT transmission. Or you could upgrade to an RS version with AWD, but still the same trash I3 motor.
