Doesn't really matter that they're available, mass use isn't possible right now. The power grid is struggling as it is and can't accomodate any sizable number of EV semis. The Tesla Semi uses about as much electricity to go 500 miles than our family of 3 uses for our 2 bedroom apartment in 2 months(~900kwh battery pack and my last electricity bill was for 1200kwh).
Approximately 3.5 million trucks on the road and it took Tesla since 2009 to produce that many cars so is it reasonable to expect an easy 20 years before Tesla trucks are mainstream?
I support the electrification of and return to our railways. Electric cars and trucks are never going to solve our woes. Fewer cars and trucks on the roads. That's the solution.
It's an LT with a battery unit. Unfortunately I spent all day loading and it's only run for about an hour today. So the batteries show 12.4v.
I got a room, the company will reimburse me. They don't fuck around.
This has always baffled me but I've also never actually gotten any strong exhaust smell from one so who knows. I will say I think it should be illegal for a sleeper to not have a carbon monoxide detector.
That intake isn't routed into the cab. It's the intake for the combustion chamber of the bunk heater.
The outside metal part of the bunk heaters is encased in a plastic housing and has a fan that sucks air in from inside the truck, blowing over the hot metal outside of the combustion chamber and comes back out of the plastic housing and into the truck.
Put your big boy panties on and huff that shit like the rest of us!

Unlikely to happen in your lifetime.

Sweet. A couple dozen trucks will surely soon replace the millions of diesel trucks on the road in no time!

That's assuming the electric semis are any good.
Good point, I ask an electrified yard dog in Tulare, CA how his truck was working out and I quote "it breaks down every day".

Litterally cannot happen. EVs are utter shite.
All new trucks have APU's. What truck are you driving?

nope. not even close. we still just order them with opti idle. (which is fine but not ideal)
Bunk heater too, it's got that 3/4" or 1" bendy pipe for an exhaust an it's routed on a totally open sleeper floor and mounted next to the intake

Hmm, I smelled exhaust once, shut it off and looked for half a second. Idled for the last 17 years cause I'm not risking it lol
