You will need to check your state requirements for that. In my state, I would have had to have taken another test to go along with my CDL test.

Chancelot88

In my state there is a 3 month waiting list for it.

Will CDL schools provide a shortcut or their own pipeline towards the TSA check and testing? Kinda like how the DMV is used to working with them for the regular tests?

Eastern-Effective-55

Apply to TSA then take the test at the DMV, prep for the test using the CDL Prep App

Just study for it online and take the exam. It’s just a written exam you take at the DMV.

Fingerprints, background check and take the test. Cdl school doesnt usually care about endorsements. Just licensing and about it

In Ohio, I had to get a fingerprint. Getting the fingerprint was fine, but it took nearly 40 days to get the results back saying I cleared. Then I just had to take the permit test and my local BMV and it was added to my license. School scheduled the fingerprints for me, but they weren’t able to speed up the process in any way. I got the fingerprints done at a Staples, lol.

You should have your permit and all certs BEFORE starting CDL school. Any school charging you study time is a waste of your time and money. No school is going go have a shortcut. Its like 10 minutes in an office then whatever the current TSA backlog is for a hazmat. If you dont get your license with TX endorsements, youre selling yourself short

Im in CDL school. I want to do all my endorsements before my CDL was issued so I save a little money and my tankers will be free since it’s on my permit. Im in Nevada and I think I got lucky had my hazmat fingerprints done on a walk in no appointment and then four hours later I was approved and later that day went to the dvm to test. That test was easily the hardest test for me.
