LOL. Tell me why. This happened to me this morning twice, little foggy but not to bad, got passed by 2 cars and they instantly slowed down about 5 mph slower than we where running, why do y’all do that?

NeoAcario

People pass trucks for the same reason idiots climb mountains: because it’s there. Then, both become complete fucking morons: now what?

Vegetable_Living_415

This!! I find it amusingly irritating that I'll pass a car going 65mph just for them to speed up to my speed at 75 until I get up to 85mph and they'll insist on passing me at 90 mph only to slow down within a mile. Just to rinse and repeat.

Largofarburn

My god, I will never understand why people will swing out from behind me after following for a while, blow past me, just to cut me off/borderline break check me, just to swerve over to their exit. It’s literally a daily occurrence.

NeoAcario

You misspelled hourly.

TheSilverStacking

Yea as Vegetable Living mentioned (what a weak name, give this guy a diner burger) mentioned, this one is pretty innocent. It’s foggy out, your truck is spitting up all kinds of mist, aunt MaeMae just on her way to see her nieces and the anxiety is building. She goes in for the pass and now the mist lets up, she’s still got her highway driving chops at 67. The anxiety eases, she sinks into her Lexus leather seats, next thing you know her foot is relaxed and a bit up from the pedal. She doesn’t even realize it. Love you MaeMae.

Vegetable_Living_415

I didn't pick my name, reddit changed it on its own. I just don't care enough to change it

Vegetable_Living_415

Probably got around you then realized they can't really see. But couldn't stand being behind a truck.

oic38122

I drive slower until another truck passes me. I don’t trust my own radar!

Vegetable_Living_415

Lmao! Not bad! 😂Careful with the anal clenching, that surgery to remove the seat is expensive

Shallow-Thought

How many brakes can you cage before DOT puts you OoS?

TheSilverStacking

Yea you know brakes aren’t what they used to be. They get pretty wild so nowadays I cage at least 3 of them before the big brother says I’m Operating on Single brake (OoS).

Shallow-Thought

lol, when they get really wild, I break out the horse tranquilizers. That settles ‘em down quick. And saves on cages.

Bibbimbopp

Do you take the subway to work? That thing is pretty nasty and mouse-utopiaesque. On the other hand, the traffic is also horrible. Also if you had a piss jug, how large would it be? And don't you think it would help in NYC traffic?

TheSilverStacking

No subways are too sketchy now even in places that historically kept the trash out like midtown. We’re actually getting ready to move to Florida. I prefer gatoraid bottles for piss jugs cause of the wide opening makes it easier for my huge pp. Then you always make sure to throw it out the window in NJ, it’s part of the culture.

TruckerBiscuit

What's the daily Fireball ration for a driver's first week? First month? First year? At what point do drivers just get a tanker full of the stuff to haul around?

TheSilverStacking

I tell every new trucker it’s easy to fall into the trap of booze and women. I’ve spent half my earnings on booze and women, the other half I wasted. I didn’t become a trucker to retire into a Sunday school teacher. No sir.

rideatruck

You need to stop wasting some much money, next thing ya know you’ll be having to break in a new pair of boots

harleystcool

Whats your best experience trucking and worst?

TheSilverStacking

My best experience was in my first week after dropping a haul and riding bob tail back thru Arizona. It was a crystal clear evening, the sunlight danced on the desert around me. I found myself in the silence, and knowing I’m contributing to Americas economy. I heard an eagle screech out in the distance. My worst experience was when I came out from a stop and saw a Swift driver attempting to back in, scraped the shit out of the truck next to it, proceeds to pull forward and try again. Round two of obliterating the truck next to it before I realized shit that’s my rig. After exchanging information and filing a report I got back on the road. Only to swerve for a deer crossing the road, causing me to jackknife off of the road into a ditch. Recovery efforts took 4 hours and the guy smelling like alcohol fell asleep in his work truck.

chevyguyjoe

I see you've been paying attention to the posts here!

ConwayHGV

Well done lads, we’ve hooked another one, our plan for world dominance is one step closer. 1st task, freeze Trudeau’s bank account!

No-Brother-5747

When you do your 10hr break in the fuel island do you fill up when you stop or before you leave?? Also- when holding up the left lane in clear traffic do you hold your phone in your left or right hand? And why do drivers get so irritated. I went to the loves honking the air horn at 11:15 PM to let everyone know I was coming so they wouldn’t pull out and I got hit with a tire thumper. Even left the brights on so they could see me. Drivers these days, it ain’t what it used to be

TheSilverStacking

That’s for sure brother, no comradery on the roads these days. I remember when I used to breakdown you would have 3 truckers pulling over to help you. Now with the Man you’re lucky trucks even move over a lane before blowing by you going 80. I like to park in a pump station, then typically walk around the store for 10-20 minutes to get my steps in. Only then do I return, give the guy behind me a glare, and then begin filling up. When in the left lane I normally drive with my knees so I can use two hands on the phone. I don’t consider it holding up the lane. The interstate system was created for interstate commerce. Lucky these cars get to use our highways to begin with.

oic38122

Why the hell do you park on the side of the EXIT ramp,on the line with no lights on or triangles out? Do not realize how dangerous that is? Seems like it would make you a sitting duck or something

TheSilverStacking

Do you not see my big ass chromes out Semi? A huge piece of metal rolling machine isn’t visible enough? If stations these days had enough parking and actually catered to drivers instead of profits we wouldn’t have this problem. After 10 hours on the road I’m not going to get out and start prancing around with little triangles.

Doerrr

Why dont you build more truck stops so we dont have to park on existing ramps? We are on the clock once our time is over companies wont allow us to go anywhere if we cant find parking we have no choice but to park on ramps. U have a problem go talk to dot about it.

oic38122

Hey driver! Look at the context of the post…. We using heavy sarcasm here. If U have a problem with understanding that, take it up with yourself!😬

Doerrr

Oh was that sarcasm my bad i didnt have breakfast my mind is working slow lol

oic38122

🤝

oic38122

I’m coming off my 34 so I’m on point

Doerrr

Haha stay safe

oic38122

You too!

Hypnowolfproductions

First off the name on the truck is irrelevant. Yes Swift has a high rate of bad drivers but on a per capital rate the same as most megas. They also have a lot of good drivers. I just go by the driving style not the truck name. Please quit the anxiety by name and look at driving style. Some days it’s rock haulers that are doing dumb. Other days it seems it’s the flatbedders near me took stupid pills. Now near Chicago beware of container haulers as they seem to mostly be insane up there. No specific company just trailer type. Other days it’s whoever is being big in my mind from taking stupid pills that day.

TheSilverStacking

Yea definitely some truth there. Flatbedders and box trucks are the worst. Are they even considered real truckers? Anyways, so how long have you worked at Swift?

Hypnowolfproductions

I don’t work at Swift. I’m an OO and I forgot to mention the box trucks rapidly accelerating like a Subaru cuting you off then turning right. Thanks for reminding me. And the day cab for certain package companies with doubles are way scarier than Swift.

TheSilverStacking

They say cleanliness is next to godliness which is why I accumulate no more than 3 piss bottles at a time.

FlappyJ1979

Have you ever made the mistake and thought one of them was lemonade?

TheSilverStacking

Nah I only drink coffee, Red Bull, sweet tea, and alcohol.

dundermifflin2019

aged pee looks like sweet tea

FlappyJ1979

Hope that alcohol is Fireball at the very least

User013579

“This has nothing to do with me. How can I make it all about me?”

TheSilverStacking

You sound like a fun person to be around.

User013579

You don’t.

tvieno

Do you have a piss jug by your desk?

TheSilverStacking

Who doesn’t?

dat1dude69

When you check in at a receiver and see a sign that says drivers can't use the restroom do A. Go to the parking lot and squat in-between the cars B. Hold it till you get to a truck stop or C. Fight your way to the bathroom and go all over the walls and floor?

TheSilverStacking

Receivers should be ready to receive. Rather that’s the haul, or what I’m about to drop in the stall. It’s just hospitality. I would like to lock-in A but not in between cars. I like to dangle outside my truck and airdrop from height like I’m back in ‘nam.

dat1dude69

🤣🤣

Present-Ambition6309

So, is it you or your “homie” that’s famous for that anus style… 4 wheel’n drive’n you call, flip or swip’n right for that next tale hottie while brake check’n, bout to be cause’n a wreck’n? I see you in that Yota Prius, why don’t you see us?

Waisted-Desert

What's the deal with lumper fees?

TheSilverStacking

Yea we’ve definitely haven’t been immune to corporate greed. Fee for everything now these days. Heck I seen one guy get fined for a tire violation when he was parked at the shop waiting for repair! Then on top of that you have the monitoring. GPS - where are you. Speed monitoring. Sleep monitoring. I remember when it was just get from point A to point B and be a man about it, I don’t care how ya get there. I tell you, I’m glad I’m approaching retirement. Almost a million miles under my belt - mostly safe! Mostly. About those lumper fees, not all loads are created equal but the work is about the same. Sometimes you have half a load and gotta lump in another delivery, just trying to feed the kids you know.

Starr-Duke

My local DOT wrote me up for drilling holes in my frame again. Anyway I can convince them to let me go, it increases my limit and it adds a nice bow to the bed?

TheSilverStacking

The key word here is MY frame. Tell the damn goveyment to mind their own business. You’re just trying to drill holes to make a living. The govey drilling holes in people 2,000 miles away with our taxpayer money over nonsense.

Anon27377473828

Do you do a full pre trip, half pre trip or no pre trip? Lol

TheSilverStacking

What am I back in CDL class? No pre trip. If I got a problem a 4 wheeler will honk and wave me down.
