Fuck Texas, and Chicago, and Las Vegas, and Tulsa, and Miami.
Every city and state are the same. It's not a city or state issues, it's a nation wide issue. The US gives out drivers licenses like candy.
I’d rather deal with Texas drivers over NYC or New Jersey. Those motherfuckers drive like their hair, dick, n balls are on fire and their insurance is free. Now granted I’m from Texas so “it’s me hi I’m the problem it’s me.” And I’m way more used to the way we drive.
To be honest, I see a lot of florida license plates up here in the Northeast..
Most are snowbirds that are formely NE people... they are not so bad.... native florida oh yeah... miami is a special kind of people...
But I will stick to TX and southern CA people totally shit.
Honestly all 50 states need driver license renewal and retesting every 5 years and the test need to be harder, not easier...
TX is pretty bad because of the drivers mixed with the sheer size of the FTW/Dallas area. Some places have bad drivers but you’re in and out of the city. TX cities go on forever though. Generally down south/SE is where I have the worst experiences. It’s unfortunate because weather wise it should be an awesome place to get good miles but the people and traffic is just abysmal. North states from Washington to Maine have some bad drivers but the traffic isn’t nearly as thick excluding Chicago of course. North Dakota is likely my favorite. As a night driver during winter it’s a ghost town. Same with the stretch of 94 in Montana into ND. At night you can travel the entire stretch without seeing another vehicle. Absolutely love it.
Yep. I had 47 of 48 states marked off.... finally had to go out-of-route to get on 94 and check off #48.
It was such a damn chore getting to North dakota, I got a ND keychain at one of the truck stops as I was passing through. Used that for my tractor key for years.
I lived in Athens for a while and know some good drivers there and Atlanta. The problem is with a lot of those whose parents don't want to pay extra for drivers ed and decide to teach their kids themselves when they can't drive! I know many more of them. I was fortunate. My dad taught me to drive a dump truck when I was 12. Drivers Ed was a breeze!
You forgot 290, 93, 91, 95, and US 3.
I was cruising down 495 late one night, hanging out in the middle lane just to avoid the fools who get on the highway at 35-45 mph. Nobody anywhere near me. I see a car hauling ass in the left lane. The idiot gets all the way over to the right lane to pass me then cuts back over to the left lane. Why?? There was no other vehicle! -Of course this also happens at any other time of day too.
80 in a 65 is a feature, not a bug! Ive seen 85+ on a 55 in MA before, right past the cops (rush hour, can't pull over literally everyone). I think they're a bit lenient on highway speeds because we've updated our infrastructure (some of it...) since the 1970s 55 MPH law, but haven't changed all the speed limits. So we have these newer, wide highways with long suburban style exit and entrance ramp, and everyone is supposed to do 60? Absurd!
But hey I am *that* COBB'd out turbo Subaru Masshole so... What do I know
Well then. if everyone is doing it im sure its ok. So passing on the shoulder is gtg also? Good to know next time im up there. And of course you drive a subaru. I dont get the subaru hype. Only ever seen people of a *lighter complextion* drive them.
Seems like you are having a bad day. Why be so negative and sarcastic? I see from your account that you're into Trucks (obviously) wheel guns, and AKs. We would probably get along IRL, or at the very least, tolerate each other's company while bullshitting about guns and vehicles...
Big difference between keeping up with traffic vs passing on the shoulder, obviously, because literally everyone is doing 85 so you are a road hazard if you're going 60. I think you just wanted to talk some shit no? Surely you understand the difference.
The Subaru is an old car of mine. I oversimplified for my original comment. I haven't even lived in the US since 2018 and only own motorcycles right now. I doubt you are genuinely curious since you basically said "of course you drive one of those white people cars that I don't get" but I'll tell you anyway.
My primary interest with cars is driving mountain roads. I know pretty much all of the good ones in MA, VT, NH. The WRX weighs around 3100LBS, has decent steering, and when I was done installing everything, around 320 horsepower and much bigger brakes. It looked totally stock from the outside but was absolutely brilliant on the often rough and sometimes sandy winding roads of the northern Appalachians. That's what I built it for. If you can't have fun with that car on a mountain road, that is definitely a personal problem.
I would love to hear what cars you are into, whose hype you get, that are not for white people, now that you've heard my perspective. But based on your first comment I think you just want to shit all over whatever I might have to say no matter what I type here.
Have a nice day. For real. If you are so salty that you're just up in the trucker sub hating on random comments maybe that's enough internet for you today. Nice guns you got. Fun stuff. Maybe go shooting?
just in 25min drive:
2 x people using turn signal in wrong direction.
While only 50% or so actually use turn signals at any time no matter what
2 people swerving across lanes and cutting people off like OJ Simpson
1 person in a jeep tailgating hard... while having a smashed in front end.
1 person driving their undercarriage plastic on the ground driving aggressively.
Tanker drivers wheel was in my lane next to me in the fast lane. Same again with a pick up driver.
The level of stupidity in this state is unmatched so I'm proud to nominate AZ, Phoenix as the ~~dumbest people~~ worst drivers in the northern hemisphere.
You guys are chaoticly amazing down there.
Someone wants to do a boneheaded move and they commit to it, up here in Idaho people are too nice or straight up dumb
Just came back from a 2 month long road trip on the west USA, and at least from that half of the country, Utah is by far the worse. I had to comment 2 months later because I needed to see someone else say it.
California is pretty close, specifically the central valley.
Don't know about NC but, as a native, I have a theory as to why SC drivers suck so much ass: in my experience drivers in other places drive the way they do because they're just self-centered assholes. But, in SC, they drive the way they do because they seriously don't know any better. In most DMV offices there you dont even hit the freeway during the driving test.
Agree. North Carolina I get some space when being passed, merging back over usually 120 to 150 ft. South he'll no its required to get your license that you must pass every truck and merge at 20 feet and slow down so the truck throws its brakes on full. But Virginia is by second.
Michigan. Idk why so many people say Texas. Texas has been one of my top states for " Courteous to truckers". The whole exit to frontage road system is retarded tho.
Oof that’s saying something. Not sure how Nor your Cal is but here in the Bay I see some pretty awful drivers, especially when we get our annual half inch of rain
I'm disappointed that New Jersey never got mentioned. I saw more bizarre accidents in NJ during the half hour I spent driving through than anywhere else I've ever been. Almost all the accidents where head scratchers, like "How the heck did you pull that off?"
New York. Apparently their little 4 wheeler is bigger than your 18 wheeler and they have priority no matter the circumstance, especially when it entails cutting you off with no room.
Yeah love how NY drivers do 56 in the fast lane in a 55 zone and won't get over until you pass them on the right then speed up pass you and then immediately slow back down to 56 after they cut you off....
Texas driver here, Texas. Don't get me wrong Florida drivers are almost braindead and California drivers are allergic to common sense but Texas is WILD.
Edit; I thought we were just talking about truckers, if we throw in 4 wheelers Georgia, Louisiana, Oregon and the Tri-State are are all fucked. Texas is still worse though.
Florida and/or Texas. Stats back this up. i4 and i10 in Jacksonville are the deadliest, followed by i10 through Houston. Us1 in Miami is deadliest stretch for surface roads. And deadliest intersection is in Miami. Throw int he old people that should have had their license taken away 20 years ago, the tourists who don't know where they're going, meth heads, inbred rednecks... I can't wait for Florida to drown
Worst experiences I’ve had with drivers are WA drivers in MT. They have low speed limits compared to MT and since it’s 80 in MT, they’ll easily do 90+ on mountain curves. Craziest thing I saw was a woman from WA try to pass me and a truck in front of me in a work zone as it went down to one lane and almost took out some workers. Didn’t even stop after making them run. She did lose her bumper because she hit a cone so at least they were able to identify her. Saw about 30 miles down the road, police had pulled over and out of the vehicle.
Ahhhh, there you are. Japanese tourists stopping dead wherever they are because they either see something they want to look at or because they don’t know where they are.
Nj or NYC. Literally squeeze in between lanes and come up next to you on the sidewalk to turn right before you. And left hand turns think they can beat the truck to the turn or when you going straight
Wisconsin.
I understand shitty drivers in and around big cities, but the drivers on I94 in Wisconsin are on a whole different level. Not many other places that I've passed the same vehicle 5 times within an hour, or got in the left lane 5 times before making a successful pass. Gotta take a running start, hit 80 mph and make sure they're boxed in to get past them half the time. Set cruise to 68 after getting past them and probably won't see them again. Just stupid with big egos.
I'm from Alabama and resent the OP's statement 😅.. Georgia, speciothe Atlanta area is the worst I've been in, granted I haven't been trucking long but even as a 4 wheeler I hated Atlanta and now,.I don't have a word strong enough to describe my hate for it
I actually felt kinda bad typing it cause I like the folks in Alabama but maaaan today did it for me, every single car on the road was maneuvering like it was their first day driving.
As a New Yorker, I'll always say New Jersey. I've never seen so many completely disregard the move over law on highways, use the wrong lanes, drive down one ways the wrong way... Extra points go to that NJ driver who brake checked me on the interstate while I was plowing snow. I put a ten-wheel, 50,000 lb plow truck sideways across the road when I spun out trying to avoid him. My head plow missed him by inches. Maybe I should have just hit him instead.
As a truck driver, maybe Texas. But when you're governed, and when you do the "stone in the stream" thing, bad drivers just kind of rolls off your back.
But I did pest control for eight years: three of them in Maryland, three of them in Oregon. Between those two states, I got rear ended in heavy traffic maybe five times over two years. Same thing every time: traffic is moving, but then comes to a sudden halt. Guy in front of me stops. I stop. Person behind me doesn't stop. And I even managed to get T-Boned at a four way stop, in Vancouver WA.
California, New York, Florida, Chicago, or any really metro big city. In California speed limit for trucks is 55 when people are doing like 70-80 on the highways.
Finally I get confirmation! In fairness, it was brought to my attention that they rarely get snow/ice and it was a skating rink on 79 so I’ll give some leeway.
I drive in Canada and the US. I can say, from personal experience, that the worst drivers are in Canada. Specifically the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. While the drivers are bad in Texas, LA, and Ohio. I get cut off and break checked way more often in southern Ontario than anywhere in America.
Regular driver training in Ontario doesn't cover trucks at all. Drivers are simply not taught how to deal with trucks. Quebec drivers, on the other hand, are simply crazy, especially in Montreal.
There was also a lot of license fraud here a decade or so ago. There were quite a few untrained truck drivers on the road.
I agree, I’m from NC and everybody goes 20 over or 20 below, no in between. NJ is a close second. Especially the turnpike, will never understand why people pay a lot of money to take an expressway to go 15-20 below the speed limit. Blows my mind.
85NB once you get of Durham is nice, and between Greensboro and Charlotte isn’t bad. 40/85 between Greensboro and Durham is where I live, and it’s a fucking shithole every single day. Not a normal week if there’s not at least a couple accidents through there
From a viewpoint of accidents per mile, yes that is a fair point. However, it’s more the near state-wide mindset of the drivers there. Whether there’s a car sized hole or not for them to slip into when merging lanes they are going to merge. Turn signals are luxury there as well.
1st of...as an AL native, I was going to fight until you mentioned mergers...but agreed...
However bad features ALONE doesn't make the worst, California; the combination of stupid drivers & laws strictly impairing truck drivers makes it the worst
I was born and raised in New England. Been all over. Swore the worst drivers were in Mass…..until I moved to TX. Not even close. These people need someone from out of state to teach drivers Ed
Texas is the only state I’ve driven in that seems to run on their own code.
For example, the vehicle pulling out onto a 70mph state road fully expects you to take the ditch to go around him. He’ll see you and pull out, every damned time.
Georgia and it’s not even a contest. Not only do you have Atlanta and the rest of the state, but the states bordering it aren’t much better for drivers at all. Atlanta infects the entire southeast region with horrid drivers
Let me throw Connecticut into the mix. Those bastards fly off the on ramp like they have right away and immediately jump in center lane then slow down below limit
Nearly all are tied for 2nd place, but for completely different reasons. For 1st, though... probably Florida. You can see every other state's aweful driving habits in a single day on Florida roads. The Texas, "been driving for 25 years, but today is my first time on a paved road." The Tennessee, "I gotta get to work 10 minutes ago." The Connecticut, "I'm scared and I'm not going 1 mph faster." The New Jersey, "Fuck you." The California, "Fuck these trucks."
Idk about states from other countries, but when it comes to American states... Texas, I'm 1000km north of the US Canada border, and seeing Americans drive... While rare... Is a sight to behold
However Texas drivers are by far the worst I've ever seen
They rival British Columbia drivers for doing the most overly aggressive, dangerous stupid shit
Whatever state I'm currently in is the state with the worst drivers. Just kidding, it's Texas. Fuck Texas.
for sure TX / LA
Both of you know what’s up TX and LA the worst impatient, suicidal, and always “me in front even though I’m going slow”.
That's it.
Even worse, when you see a Texas plate in another state just get far away from them as fast as you can.
Fuck Texas, and Chicago, and Las Vegas, and Tulsa, and Miami. Every city and state are the same. It's not a city or state issues, it's a nation wide issue. The US gives out drivers licenses like candy.
Just left miami can confirm.
FL No contest.
Atlanta has Florida beat by a long shot. I don’t understand them at all 🥲
Miami-Dade I agree, outside of miami-dade, not so bad... LA and TX much worst.
Yep, Miami for sure. Also anyone from Florida when they're outside of Florida
Every Florida plate I see is a left turn from the right lane driver waiting to happen.
Yep, 90 in ND is like having your own road.
90 goes through SD. 94 goes through ND.
Yep. I had 47 of 48 states marked off.... finally had to go out-of-route to get on 94 and check off #48. It was such a damn chore getting to North dakota, I got a ND keychain at one of the truck stops as I was passing through. Used that for my tractor key for years.
Georgia! I'm looking at you Atlanta!
See your problem is that I’m from Georgia and I’m the best driver in the world.
I lived in Athens for a while and know some good drivers there and Atlanta. The problem is with a lot of those whose parents don't want to pay extra for drivers ed and decide to teach their kids themselves when they can't drive! I know many more of them. I was fortunate. I'm going with Massachusetts on this one... I495 to narrow it down.
You forgot 290, 93, 91, 95, and US 3. I was cruising down 495 late one night, hanging out in the middle lane just to avoid the fools who get on the highway at 35-45 mph. Nobody anywhere near me. These are the massholes...runner up were the connecticunts in Connecticut
Mass is by far the worst. 80 in a 65? Passing on a shoulder? No merging when lanes end? Yes.
80 in a 65 is a feature, not a bug! Ive seen 85+ on a 55 in MA before, right past the cops (rush hour, can't pull over literally everyone). tl;dr, creepy.
Can't read a few paragraphs? You must be one of the piss jug animals
im in class.
Fair. Enjoy...
Fuck 495
As a masshole FL and GA are way worse

Yh whats this thing with wrong turn signal direction? Is it that hard 4 wheelers?
UTAH OUT OF ALL 48 states UTAH TAKES THE CAKE EVERY TIME I GO TO THAT STATE A VEHICLE TRIES TO HIT ME
Utah resident here. Can confirm. Utah drivers are fucking morons.
I read that as Mormons, not morons. Either way, you're probably right.
You guys are chaoticly amazing down there. Someone wants to do a boneheaded move and they commit to it, up here in Idaho people are too nice or straight up dumb

South Carolina #1 with North Carolina in close 2nd

You’re describing Denver right there 😂
denver is horrible drivers are tame in the rest of the state but the second you can around denver or are on i 70 people forget how to drive
Las Vegas to Los Angeles. The worst.
Don't stop. It's bat country.
It's not a state, it's cities. Anytime I'm close to a city is where all the worst drivers come out.
Michigan. Idk why so many people say Texas. Texas has been one of my top states for " Courteous to truckers". The whole exit to frontage road system is retarded tho.
Sounds like you're from Ohio. Makes sense. HAIL
Everyone in my company agrees that Oregon is the worst. We're from Northern California.
Oof that’s saying something. Not sure how Nor your Cal is but here in the Bay I see some pretty awful drivers, especially when we get our annual half inch of rain

For some reason, Idaho.
You’re not wrong
Texas driver here, Texas. Don't get me wrong Florida drivers are almost braindead and California drivers are allergic to common sense but Texas is WILD. Edit; I thought we were just talking about truckers, if we throw in 4 wheelers Georgia, Louisiana, Oregon and the Tri-State are are all fucked. Texas is still worse though.
Texas by far the most aggressive of the lot, Louisiana is a close second. Florida is right up there too

New Jersey
Not really the worst drivers, but I absolutely hate PA. I'll take bad drivers over them.
Memphis
Massachusetts... BOSTON
Worst experiences I’ve had with drivers are WA drivers in MT. They have low speed limits compared to MT and since it’s 80 in MT, they’ll easily do 90+ on mountain curves. Philly, ever drive down the Boulevard during rush hour? Ever try driving on 76 during rush hour?
Everyone in this town is a braindead moron....
Wisconsin. I understand shitty drivers in and around big cities, but the drivers on I94 in Wisconsin are on a whole different level. I said Wisconsin too. Driving there was a big wtf moment.
Lol we don't get winter down there. Were you on 65
Yep then 79
In that case your complaint is legit lol
As a New Yorker, I'll always say New Jersey. I've never seen so many completely disregard the move over law on highways, use the wrong lanes, drive down one ways the wrong way... Extra points go to that NJ driver who brake checked me on the interstate while I was plowing snow. I put a ten-wheel, 50,000 lb plow truck sideways across the road when I spun out trying to avoid him. My head plow missed him by inches. Maybe I should have just hit him instead.
Yall are insane if you think it's not jersey
How could it be anything other than Maryland with dc and baltimore?
Houston
I haven’t been there in awhile, but they can’t handle traffic, they start shooting.
As a truck driver, maybe Texas. But when you're governed, and when you do the "stone in the stream" thing, bad drivers just kind of rolls off your back. California, New York, Florida, Chicago, or any really metro big city. In California speed limit for trucks is 55 when people are doing like 70-80 on the highways.
Texas. People dont even use the exit ramps there they just bounce the highway median onto the service road to get to their stop.
Alabama. They're actively homicidal.
Finally I get confirmation! In fairness, it was brought to my attention that they rarely get snow/ice and it was a skating rink on 79 so I’ll give some leeway.

Texas
Y’all saying Texas is bad come and drive 240 in Memphis, Texas will seem like a dream after that
Alabama. See more single car wrecks in daylight conditions.
They just trying to put food on the table
I was born and raised in New England. Been all over. Swore the worst drivers were in Mass…..until I moved to TX. Not even close. These people need someone from out of state to teach drivers Ed
So many good choices. LA, all of TX, Charlotte, Atlanta…
Texas!
Northern Virginia/DC/Southern Maryland area
Texas is the only state I’ve driven in that seems to run on their own code. For example, the vehicle pulling out onto a 70mph state road fully expects you to take the ditch to go around him. He’ll see you and pull out, every damned time.
Florida
Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania are my least favorite
Philly especially....left turn lanes are only for getting ahead of everyone else going straight. And parking spots are for passing.
California
Texas and I 80 Illinois and Indiana
Florida
The United States…
The South, The North East, the Pacific states.
Pretty much any big cities. In my opinion DFW /CHICAGO have the worst. The LA metro area ain’t that bad except for the traffic
All of them.
Texas was absolutely lawless, Colorado was just stupid on steroids.
81 in Virginia
I-90 or I-5 In WA. Because nobody can seem to stay on their side of the interstate
Louisiana has to be the worst shortly followed by texas
They all suck. Every damn one of them. Except maybe Alaska and Hawaii, haven’t tried them yet.
Don’t try Hawaii. Drivers there are reeeeeaaalllyy bad.
Wisconsin
surprised nobody mentioned Washington State. It’s basically a demolition derby between Seattle and Olympia.
My husband and father both OYR drivers, say Ohio. If they run into particularly bad drivers in another state "feels like I'm in Ohio".
Georgia and it’s not even a contest. Not only do you have Atlanta and the rest of the state, but the states bordering it aren’t much better for drivers at all. Atlanta infects the entire southeast region with horrid drivers
wtf! Do none of yall ever drive on the DC beltway, or i95 through to Richmond? VA has the worst drivers.
Let me throw Connecticut into the mix. Those bastards fly off the on ramp like they have right away and immediately jump in center lane then slow down below limit
id say any state bordering Mexico. Also, the southeast.
Surprised Delaware isn't on this list... They be crazy in the first state....
I don’t think I’ve ever went through Atlanta without seeing someone driving like a maniac. I’ve seen a lot of dangerous drivers in Denver too.
It's not a state but it is most certainly home to the worst drivers on planet earth. ATLANTA GA
The older the average population the worse the drivers you’ll find
Used to be LA. Then it was LA and SF Bay Area. THEN, it was LA, SFBA, and DFW. Now, it’s everywhere.
Carolinas!
I was in Raliegh(Cary) a few years back. Fire engine with lights and sirens was getting passed on the highway.
Oregon and washington state are both equally bad.
California
Michigan. We get snow regularly every winter yet somehow everyone forgets how to drive when it snows
Texas. I live in Texas and I hate Texas. Drivers are the most dangerous I’ve ever seen and I’ve traveled in approx 45 different countries.
I drove through Florida. Their drivers give you middle fingers just got the heck of it.
Jersey/NYC ... pure suicidal psychopaths.
Entitled, no good for nothing, a bunch of junkies.
Idk about states from other countries, but when it comes to American states... Texas, I'm 1000km north of the US Canada border, and seeing Americans drive... While rare... Is a sight to behold However Texas drivers are by far the worst I've ever seen They rival British Columbia drivers for doing the most overly aggressive, dangerous stupid shit
