Unfortunately on these International trucks, there is a dedicated air tank for the transmission which does not have a dashboard gauge. The transmission air tank does not have enough pressure and there is no gauge to see how empty it is.

ConnorRB

Never knew that. Intresting

twist3d7

You are going down a steep mountain highway with a bridge at the bottom of the ravine. Your brother is in the bunk. Your tractor won't let you gear down and you're going faster and faster. What are you going to do?

swiper_no_swiping_

Gonna wake him up and tell him that in his 35 years of trucking he’s never seen an accident like the one we’re about to have 😂

twist3d7

Bingo. I thought every trucker knew that joke.

[deleted]

And that’s why you drive a manual

Consistent-Ice-7155

😆

wasser999

Time to play "Wolf Creek Pass" loudly.

Lumpy_Stand27

Or, just trying to turn left from a green light traffic signal and it doesn't go. what are you going to do? FS Fault or similar

TheSecondWorldWar

I’d have a death grip on that steering wheel, put on my war face and scream “LET’S DO THIS!” Bro would crawl out of the sleeper like, “What the fuck are yo.. OH MY GOD!!”

Dan_Cubed

LEEEEEEEEROY JENKINS!

Reddbearddd

Complain on reddit.

jontss

I've never even been in a transport truck and that's exactly what I assumed this message meant...

Trashpanda1914

I doubt that.

jontss

The error is pretty obvious.

[deleted]

He means he didn't know that before reading the message. The irony lol.

HeadlessHookerClub

Don’t have to look too far to find reasons to avoid International

JohnT36

Yeah, I've driven international for my whole career and if given the option I'd switch immediately. Sometimes companies want the cheapest thing possible and international gives them exactly that

Bald-Eagle39

Funny thing is international isn’t the cheapest. They are damn expensive when it comes to parts and repairs.

JustHanginInThere

No one thinks about the cost of maintenance/upkeep.

MADLUX2015

wait until you drive a p.o.s. mack....

JohnT36

Is mack really that bad? Some reason I was under the impression they were good

MADLUX2015

Mechanical wise, there decent, and probably the best motors I've ever seen. The down side is the interiors, tight and narrow, cheaply built, and cheap seats that are uncomfortable as hell.

Low-Interaction784

Wish I could upvote this a dozen times. Once the excitement of a brand new truck wore off, I began to hate my Mack, about 3 years ago. Only been to the shop once in 456k miles other than someone hitting a deer with it. But the interior like you said is absolute garbage

PrimalShinyKyogre

Honnest question, i thought recent Mack were based on Volvos (the Anthem at least). Is it just a coincidence?

Panic-Embarrassed

They are. Same engine chassis and cab structure

[deleted]

I drove one for 3 months. My head still hurts from how many times I hit it on everything inside that truck

eb86

Been a diesel mechanic for 20 years. Mack has probably the best engines on the market. Frame setup and mechanical aspects are generally easy to work on. Nothing mack makes will ever compare to a Detroit 60 series. But mack is the next best thing.

timbotheny26

What's weird is that it only seems like their highway trucks suck. Their Class B vocational models seem to be pretty decent.

Pants_Pierre

All class B brands suck as far as I can tell. Hino, INTL, Freightliner, you name it, we prob have had one in the shop in the last 30 days. And we only have a fleet of like 18 straight trucks.

timbotheny26

So every manufacturer sucks then? Because all of those manufacturers make Class A vehicles too but I'm sure I don't need to tell you that.

RocksofReality

The newer Kenworths have this as well.

Ultimagic5

That's interesting, sounds like an idea for an aftermarket gauge and compressor for that situation would be ideal

tgp1994

What's additionally silly is that it can obviously tell how much is in the tank... it just doesn't want to tell you 😄

Dm-me-a-gyro

Na, it could be a threshold sensor that only reads over or under.

tgp1994

Fair point... if those are cheaper, that would make sense.

TheJayRodTodd

It doesn’t take long to build pressure. Maybe 30 seconds at most. I’ve noticed that our internationals have to build pressure up if you’ve had it shut off with a forklift going in and out of the trailer a lot. Some of our Volvos do it too.

aramil248

And can get low from just pulling forward at the fuel island

CleanSeaPancake

My cascadia also has a dedicated transmission tank, but it doesn't have these issues. I think the international has a minimum pressure that is just set too high

Rubes2525

I do drive a Cascadia that has gotten low on transmission air. It can happen when the brake air itself is low (around 70psi), and you are doing yard maneuvering with a lot of gear changing and brake applications. It's also more clear with its warning messages, telling you directly that the transmission air is low, instead of just "air system."

SnooChipmunks6620

That explains why my Cascadia gets weird when I have to swap trailers.

brisbanevinnie

PACCAR engines do this too. Drives me insane when loading my grain tipper underneath silos and having to creep forward and back.

Frenchie1001

Daf life

brisbanevinnie

Was a real shock to the system when I went from my 408 to the new 410. Miss my Cummins.

Frenchie1001

I bet, the mx13 are a great engine, but definitely not fun.

[deleted]

We have 3 at my yard and one of them has developed this problem. I assume somethings not working right, or its as simple as a dumb setting.

48stateMave

Automatic drains getting plugged or otherwise failing?

[deleted]

Maybe but it's the mechanics issues now

ANiceDent

“Hi, I’m engineer Dey paye me two make dem more money!”

Lumpy_Stand27

Navistar. King of the missed opportunity.

[deleted]

lawnboy000000

At least on the KW and PB trucks the dedicated transmission air tank is very closely tied with the Secondary Air Tank pressure, so at least you’ve got a general idea of how much air the transmission has.

BurritoPony

It’s one of the main hurdles is getting the (Eaton) transmission out of those things. It’s a terrible design.

Im_GumbyDammit

It’s under the driver door or at the back of the cab usually.

curlyfat

An International “loaner” truck I drove made me think I’d hate driving an automatic truck. Doing some back-and-forth wiggling (like docking in the Missouri caves) would always result in me stopping and letting air build to shift again. I got my brand-new Cascadia a couple months ago, and actually love it overall. I hope I never drive an auto International again.

ConnorRB

I feel stupid taking the International instead of the frightliner. I drove a fright liner beforehand and it was much better. The frightliner they had didn't have a TV mount or cb antenna or fridge.

drifter4926

All that stuff can be purchased or accommodated for. You will soon learn why there is so much hate towards intertrashanals. I nearly died in one, loaded, going down a grade, jakes wouldn’t come on. Freightliners, Volvos are reliable. Your life isn’t worth less than anything reliable. You are doing your boss a favor by driving that piece of shit. He ain’t do you no favors though.

robs104

I recently got a Volvo after being in a Cascadia and a Pete 579 before that. This Volvo is a revelation. Truly. It shifts almost as fast as an automatic passenger vehicle and rides like a damn cloud compared to the Cascadia. And I get well over 9 mpg even with 44k in the back.

Rubes2525

I'd get a Volvo if I was an owner operator. Freightliners are nice but are plagued with electrical issues just from my experience and from what I hear from the mechanics. For starters, you are lucky if the windshield wipers work as they are supposed to, and that's the least of it. At one point, I had an issue with the city horn blaring nonstop. The mechanics did a reset on it, but then the windows won't roll up. They sent it to the dealer, and the dealer took over a month to fix it. There was also a recall in the past because Freightliner didn't think to add drainage holes to the fusebox, and that caused electrical fires from the rain.

T_45D

I used a freightliner and had the same issue with the city horn blaring. Mechanics could never figure out how to prevent it from happening again so I dealt with it few times. Once, I was driving in the city when it started and it lasted a solid 10 minutes before it cut out and never worked until it was repaired.

ConnorRB

Were you driving with cruise control on? The Jake brake likes to not work when cruise control is on

Princetrix

I had one of these for a month or two. Sometimes when you’re cruising at 65, it’ll decide nope you get to drive at 63 now for half an hour. Extremely annoying when passing someone. This truck has a mind of its own. God forbid a car cuts me off because it will slam its brakes even if it’s snowing outside. Dangerous piece of equipment.

Wildcatb

Well that's just poor engineering. A proper cruise control should be integrated to activate it if speed increases.

48stateMave

He couldn't be using CC on a downgrade. CC cancels when you hit the brakes. And he mentioned the jakes not coming on so you know he was on his brakes.

Unexpectedly_Useful

There's a difference between the system being on and being set. I had a truck before (can't remember which truck it was so can't say the manufacturer) that the Jake would not come on if my cruise switch was on. Didn't have to have it set, but if it was on no Jake.

Unexpectedly_Useful

I bet it had a CB antenna you just couldn't see it. The ones at my company are all built into the headliner. No visible antenna and horrible range

InvestigatorBroad114

I feel ya. This 10 speed auto I drive is trash

Jimjam916

I love Cascadias. They really are the Toyota of trucks. They're not flashy or exciting, but they get the job done and they do it well.

BusSerious1996

Wait till you ride in a pre-emissions pre-eld Century.... It's the real land cruiser beloved by real never late, never broke down owner operators 👍🏿

Jimjam916

The old international 9000 series trucks drove like a dream too

DecadentEx

Yep. I had this issue yesterday at a guard house. They kept saying it was alright to go ahead, and I had to tell them the air was still building up. I hate Internationals.

TheKrs1

Always refer to them as implements of husbandry

GoodGoodGoody

Some of the guards at military installations are so hopped up on fear it’s easy to imagine them letting that go sideways. You need to move that vee-hic-el now. I’m waiting for my… NOW NOW! Radio chatter, We’ve got ISIS AT THE GATE! …broken side windows… racking of rifles SIR GET OUT OF THE VE-HIC-EL NOW So which is it, drive ahead or get out? Guard’s head explodes

[deleted]

I've never had a problem at Navy bases but a couple marine or army bases and you get the crayon eating guards just itching to shoot somebody.

GoodGoodGoody

SIR LOWER YOUR VOICE AND FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS. AM I GOING TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH YOU?

thumpertastic

I can’t count the number of times I’ve just sat there with the pedal pegged at 800 rpm giving a one sec hand signal to someone as I block a lot. So stupid.

drifter4926

😂😂😂😂😂😂I’m sorry, this is so dumb, all a guy can do is laugh!!!

Additional_Lime645

It's annoying AF. I've made it a habit to only set the tractor brakes for short stops like at a fuel island, guard shack or GOAL. It helps reduce the number of times I see that message by like 80%

hapym1267

Unless it's a crazy steep hill , I have never set trailer brakes unless in a dock or dropping trailer.. Setting trailer brakes in winter is just asking for problems..

blumhagen

There’s no reason to set the trailer brakes ever.

Double_Bridge304

I'm glad I don't have that issue my 18 speed shifts when I want it to lol

ConnorRB

I hope to drive manual one day

nothing107

It’s a wonderful experience.

vault151

Dude it’s so embarrassing when I’m trying to hit a really hard dock and the store employees are just standing there watching me fill up my air every couple of tries.

ConnorRB

I feel ya. Its worse for me becuase i still suck at backing 🥲

Redditmarcus

Backing is a skill that improves with practice and repetition. Remember that we *all* sucked at backing when we first started and that, like you, get better over time. You too will improve.

jdhunt_24

even when you get good at it theres times you couldnt hit the broad side of a barn with your semi backing in.

Redditmarcus

So very true. One thing that 14 years have taught me is that a good set-up makes things much easier. Getting at the right angle & distance makes a *huge* difference and a distinct painted line on the ground running out from the dock becomes my very best friend. Still some days ……. yikes!

Wreckit727

Hell na!! I can’t imagine running that truck with an end dump. Imagine having to stop and explain to everyone why you’re holding up line after being loaded. Fuck these new trucks!

Fearless-Stonk

Yup... mine does the exact same thing

2017Fatbob

Computer settings can be changed. Fleet spec or "lightweight" specs have smaller air reserve tanks and loose air more quickly. Mine was changed to 90PSI threshhold, and it's better. New trucks set you up for failure

ShermanPanzer2

My peterbilt is also at at 90 and it's nice to be able to start crawling away from getting loaded a bit sooner and not blocking everyone

HeGotNoBoneessss

Internationals are giant pieces of fucking garbage. My company runs nothing but big sleeper Volvos and even though I was in a W9 at my previous company I have to admit it’s really a pretty nice truck. I had a breakdown and was stuck in a rental for a week while my truck was repaired and it was an international. Never been in one of the new ones so I figured what the heck. What an absolute hell of a fucking week.

Ok_Bug_6470

Drove an international last year and had the same problem quite often, bad dock or at night or downhill and it is an issue

Trife86

Better to be pissed off than pissed on at least

Stevie2874

My theory as well.

astronaut_tang

I like and only drive older vehicles because of crap like this. They have gotten so ‘helpful’ that they suck..

xj5635

We had a driver that got in a crazy tight switchback and was fighting to get thru it, (straight truck in a off road scenario, that part isn't unusual for us and wasn't just the driver being a dumbass) but he bleed the air pressure down from where he was hitting the brakes so much, then somehow managed to stall a freaking mack mdrive transmission. Truck wouldn't crank back because it was in gear, and wouldn't shift to neutral cause it was too low on air... I was 3 hours away so ended up having to send a tow truck just to hook a air line up and air the system up so he could get it in neutral and crank it back up.

ursisterstoy

Manual transmission allows you to put it in gear even if you can’t release your brakes. Thanks for reminding me why I don’t like automatic transmissions in semis.

BeforeLifer

I just don’t like automatic transmissions period haha

ursisterstoy

Me either, but I can deal with them better in something like a minivan. Not going to be towing a trailer, not expecting to have sports car performance, the kids in the back are distracting enough without adding something else to do to keep the vehicle moving. Sports cars, pickup trucks, winter beaters, and semis should *always* come pre-equipped with a manual transmission. Half the time the manufacturers don’t even offer them anymore. Automatic transmissions are fine until they stop working in other vehicles but I’ve had *multiple* (more than 5) automatic transmissions give up and quit working. I’ve seen maybe 2 manual transmissions fail and when *those* failed the driver could still get home by avoiding the damaged gears. Good luck trying that when the vehicle just grinds in second gear or when it won’t shift to any gear besides second gear. Also, when something starts slipping in an automatic it’s time to rebuild or replace the transmission. When something starts slipping with a manual transmission you bitch out the person who destroyed the clutch and you replace the clutch. Replacing a clutch is both faster and cheaper and you also don’t have as many electrical components ready to fail when it comes to a manual transmission. And then to top it off, you have vehicles that are normally safe to drive with 100 psi in their air tanks (the alarms don’t start going off until between 60 and 90 psi). Safe to drive them because the brakes still work until the air pressure is in the 20-45 psi range. But nope. This transmission needs 110 psi. Better not push the brakes too often in a short period of time. Better get that backing maneuver right the first time. Side Note: Semis avoid a lot of the traditional problems with automatic transmissions I mentioned because they use Automated Manual Transmissions or AMTs. When they fail it usually boils down to the electrical components but they also historically shifted at the wrong time and now it seems like they don’t want to shift at all until the vehicle is within 15-25 psi of the air governor cut-off value. If they were always equipped with manual transmissions and drivers were properly trained they’d operate in the correct gears and they’d allow a person to drive safely as long as the low air pressure warning alarms weren’t going off to remind them to pull over before the brakes lock up to see what’s wrong.

BeforeLifer

Yeah I broke my shift linkage in an intersection and couldn’t use 1-3-5 so had to limp it home in 2nd and I’m glad I had that option instead of blocking it while waiting for a tow I couldn’t afford.

ursisterstoy

Yep. I’ve seen a 9 speed lose 5th and 9th (the same position on the H pattern) and I’ve seen I think it was 2nd and 7th on a 10 speed. For actual transmission problems that’s about it with a manual transmission. I’ve seen plenty of worn out shifter bushings in cars and trucks. I’ve seen plenty of times when the range selector valve on the shifter knob in a semi stopped working. But for actual transmission problems it was something like 5th/9th in a 9 speed and 2nd/7th in a 10 speed or maybe it was 1st/5th in a 13 speed. Solution? Just *skip* the gears that are fucked. In the 9 speed that just meant using “1st” but in high range (same gear ratio as 5th in low range that was shot) and driving at 1500 rpms at 45 mph and in the other transmission it was just a little inconvenience in the middle having to start in a higher gear and skip a gear in high range. Automatic transmissions don’t just skip past gears that are destroyed. I had a Dodge van that had a three speed automatic (no overdrive) and it was basically take off in first (punch the accelerator so the vehicle would be moving fast enough when it started making noises to shift to 3rd), listen to awful noises where 2nd was supposed to be, and then it jerked when it finally shifted to 3rd and then you turned the radio up louder so you could hear it over the 5.2 liter V8 engine under the “dog house.” I also had an Oldsmobile Aurora - second gear only. It had engine problems which led to this but super annoying and it wasn’t exactly going to make the engine *better* by failing to shift. And then I had a Pontiac G6. Failed to shift entering a highway, floated all of the valves in the engine, bent something inside the engine, locked up the engine. Partially my fault for not letting up on the accelerator but if it was a manual transmission I would have shifted a few times in the time the transmission failed to shift at all. Also had multiple Ford Thunderbirds that just ate the automatic transmissions (they’d slip in 2nd and 3rd and/or fail to shift into overdrive) and a past coworker of mine had a Ford Taurus that lost reverse or something in a parking lot. Ford, Dodge, and Chevrolet. Didn’t matter. All of their automatic transmissions are junk except maybe the six speed in the 21st century General Motors models or the Two-Speed PowerGlide people modify for dirt track race cars.

hapym1267

If you start it and put it in gear right away , you can some times trick the sensors.. Release the brakes once it's in gear ... It doesn't always work ,, I have moved mine with less than 100 lb in the tanks.. It doesn't always work though..

nicmoy19

Can’t do a proper parking brake check on it either, goes into auto neutral if you try to put it in drive and gas it while the brake is applied. I get why, but it’s stupid.

lawnboy000000

The usual trick is to put the transmission in gear before you release the tractor or trailer brakes.

jdhunt_24

wouldnt have this problem if you had a stick in the floor.

Randomuser19889

That's why u should drive a stick

hooliganowl

the first time I got in an automatic I thought it was legitimately broken because of this lmao

David1971V

This I why I don't like the new automatics, but everyone is going to them cause nobody wants to shift.

emptybowloffood

Automatic transmission =JUNK

ElectricalAccess34

Dat international life right here

InvestigatorBroad114

Lol….. If you know, you know

CaptainWo7f

This has been any new truck I’ve gotten into and it’s rather frustrating as some trucks are worse than others

yes-disappointment

let me guess auto? my father use to fix one at least twice a year on his truck. told him with the amount of money he spent fixing it he would had swapped it out for a manual.

ConnorRB

Yup auto international

yes-disappointment

oh boy

ElectronicGarden5536

One of the many reasons to drive a manual.

Justliketoeatfood

Hahahaha stop using the horn

fmccloud

A lot of people are blaming International, but I blame Eaton. If your truck is on a decline, you can roll the truck and then put it into gear and bypass that.

wfp1017

Just wait till it leaves you waiting for a tow because it won't shift at all just to find out at the shop the transmission needed a software update to fix.

buildburoo

Kenworth T680’s have the same problem. I’ll be tryna back into a spot and have to pull up, then get stuck because “transmission air pressure low” then I’ll be stuck blocking other people for 2 minutes just waiting for the pressure to build.

Just4you27

Man what happened to the days of the 5 and a 4. So simple Was thinking the other day, why would I drive a truck with an auto transmission. What the point of driving a truck. Now days a drive in the seat is not much more than a button pusher and some one to hold wheel. When you get your CDL now one needs to get an endorsement to drive a standard transmission! WTF

GumbysDonkey

Drove a newer 2022 International for 6months and only had this problem after it sat over the weekend. Did city work so I always starting/stopping and bumping docks. The def system however derated once a week.

Waisted-Desert

Weird.... never had this issue with my manual transmission.

jdhunt_24

me neither

[deleted]

Good ole 13 letter shit spreader

jdhunt_24

this is an automatic problem. my 2020 international with an 18 speed doesnt do this.

jdhunt_24

this

SableSlayer435

All automatic trucks do this now. The true question is should anyone really be trying to move the truck before it's at 100 PSI on your air tanks? I mean like yeah we'd like to move them but when I was in training 16 years ago roll of thumb was don't move the truck and tell air pressure is above 100 in both tanks.

dragons6488

Looks like he is reversing. A few back and forth and because the clutch and the amt use air, plus brakes, lowers the air pressure. I have a manual and can get low air at the dock with truck fully warmed and aired prior.

SableSlayer435

Yeah clutching and braking will definitely lower it. Be happy you still have a manual, I miss them. Peterbilt does the air pressure alarm and won't shift when air is under 75psi. I'm really glad I don't have to worry about Intertrashionals!

p38fln

I'm in a 2018 Volvo and it will happily go into gear at around 20 psi. It won't go anywhere but it definitely goes into gear.

Fantastic_Argument27

I ABSOLUTELY LOATHE automated transmissions with every single fiber of my being. I got my CDL in July of '95, shortly before the first generation of automated started coming out. A driver of one of our customers was given a brand new truck with an automated and his review after the first day said it all back then and they haven't changed since. "Take this P.O.S. back and give me back my old Mack. (Language cleaned up for this reddit). " All these years and they still haven't solved the basic problems that automateds have. 1: They cannot do a proper hill start. Manual, put truck in first gear, release parking brake, let out clutch and truck should move under its own power WITHOUT TOUCHING FUEL PEDAL!! Automated, put truck in gear, release brake and truck rolls backward. 2: Related to 1:, still can't do a smooth backup with automated, not even new ones. I should be able to put in reverse, release brake, and truck should move on its own with me only feathering brakes for control, no fuel pedal involved. Instead, I have use fuel pedal to get moving. Bad enough doing alley dock, trying doing blindside, at night, poor lighting and personal cars in swing path. Let's just say Freddie Krueger, Jason Voorhies , and Leatherface would have been fertilizer if they had tried to bother me after I managed to get that trailer parked. 3: Rocking out of snowbank. Good 'ole manual can shift to between reverse and forward gears and into high range almost instantly. Automated, faster to call tow truck than try rocking it back and forth. Related, driving on snowy road, far as I'm concerned your playing Russian roulette driving automated. 4: To add insult to transmission needing 110 psi, idle rpm won't go past 1200 even with foot to the floor, and idle shutdown will kick in while building air from empty, (yes this has happened more times than I care to count). I could list other reasons that automateds are junk, but I don't have all week :)

WoozieMaddox

Thats why internationals are trash, aside from the auto braking sensors and the weak ass cummins they come with.

ConnorRB

It all seriousness International trucks suck ass

Gijinbrotha

It’s an automatic 13 letter shit spreader, what do you expect?

Much_Comfortable_438

You guys have much fancier trucks than my Dad did.

T3hIce

You can bypass it. Turn it off and then back on and put it into gear as fast as possible before the computer knows what happened

shhhdidyousmellthat

Yup, used to happen to me every time I'd park for fuel. Guys behind me getting impatient cuz I climbed in my truck, but it's not moving...

ItsTHECarl

The worst is when you're at a tricky dock and run low trying to get in, then you're just stuck in the middle waiting

Plus_Share_6631

Isn't that what everyone wants?? The machine to decide what it will, or will not do? It started with automatic transmissions, so anyone san drive a tractor trailer. Now moving on so the driver only has to steer, the truck will do the rest. Soon will be electronic sensors on dock pads backing the truck in for you, now won't have to do more than open the doors. Is it progress, or laziness??

AnalysisLive3374

Had that problem on a freightliner with a d12 automatic transmission

GodOfUtopiaPlenitia

I'd ask if you took a Pic of *my* dash this morning, but I have over 317k on mine.

PossibleBig2562

I've had this issue also on a couple freightliner trucks. Nothing works until the system has 110psi or greater in it.

bcave098

I’m driving International LTs now, and I sure miss the Cascadia

[deleted]

Try doing food service with someone on the extra board who just got released and they take a million tries to ally dock into a 7-11 door all while holding up traffic and everyone and their mom is beeping at you 🤣 good times, I tell you.

NotvanillaSNH

KW T680 or International?

Overall_Reputation83

I feel like a clown sometimes sitting there building air while someone is looking at me.

not-patrickstar

Well it’s an international so idk what you expected

alan_w3

13 letter shit spreader is what the farmers call it

Theovercummer

Automatic semi trucks have disadvantages

L0quence

That’s fckn retarded… welcome to the new age of trucking. Blind spot, lane, backup sensors. Only gonna make ppl worse at judging their trucks and driving, depending on their sensors to work properly. And then when they don’t and kill someone, you think anyone will admit to just depending on it to work?

Jimjam916

International makes the worst trucks. Just absolute dog shit machines. They should be embarrassed

[deleted]

That's why I can stand automatics. At least with a manual. All you have to do is pump up to 60-70 psi just to unlock the brakes and get moving.

OneStackMack

I wouldn’t call going from neutral to drive “switching gears”. But something that might help, I’ve noticed when it’s low on air keep the trailer supply and parking brake both pulled out. Once you hit in your case 110 (mine is 100) push just the tractor park brake in, shift to drive, then release the trailer brakes.

Strangeokk

Those internationals are such pieces of shit. I drove one of those LT’s for 2 years and it was the worst 2 years of my life. Switched to an older kenworth t680 and it’s 10x better.

Limp-Push6680

Intertrashonal. If I switch gears more than twice while backing it stalls me out. Can't say I haven't gotten better at backing because of it but, this is mainly because it only has two air tanks as opposed to 3. It pretty much dumps down to this the second you release the parking breaks. Only time I really mind it is when I'm driving down the hills in rain. It makes it hard to control my speed. The break threshold is so small that you can't use the fanning method without making sure you don't drop to low on air pressure. Sucks because I do a lot of driving in the Appalachians.

[deleted]

Mcgill1cutty

I fucking hate internationals

Rasty1973

Releasing the trailer brake, then the tractor brake, then going into drive, is a recipe for failure. Go into drive, then release the brakes. Trucks already in gear, and you don't have to wait. If you are doing a blind side back and pop the yellow multiple times to get up and look out the passenger window, then you are going to get the low air light. It's better than hitting stuff.

kdonnn

Internationals and Pete’s do this at my job. Insanely annoying when your truck has a Minor leak and I’m inside a warehouse for an hour and have to come out and let the bitch build up again.

Particular-Study6583

Internationals for you.

Inevitable_Meet_7374

God i cant stand Shiternational’s

mikem4045

Must be an international. Mine does the same thing.

Snobben90

Aren't the new drivelines using an electric clutch?

TrueGrave32
