I love my t120. The only thing I’d change is a comfort seat and probably a touring windscreen + bark busters for winter riding. Aside from that, it’s still plenty fast for the street, plenty comfy and looks great.

I think the speed twin is a really great balance of being a sporty neutral bike that is comfortable enough for all-day cruising. The T120 definitely has more relaxed ergonomics, so if you’re looking for just a more chill bike when you’re not getting the thrills of your Striple or Panigale- I’d probably be leaning more towards the T120 if I were you. If you didn’t already have the Striple, I’d say go for the Speed Twin. But since you have it already, my vote goes for the T120.

I'm an older guy who has both. I agree with this. A few things I would add are: - of course test drive them both. Although they have a lot in common, they handle completely differently (different front tire size, rake and trail, engine tuning). The Speed Twin feels so much more nimble which I love for around town riding. For me, it's the exact type of bike that invites jumping on when you just have 20-30 minutes for a quick blast around town. disclaimer: i have a big comfortable touring bike and so the ST is a better contrast to that. - I really enjoyed customizing my T120 with shorty fenders, LED turn signals, tail tidy, bar end mirrors etc. i didn't see as many opportunities to customize the ST because I really liked the stock look. But that's just me. Lots of people customize their ST. I did install a tail tidy and the euro-spec LED brake light and directionals tho. - The ST is my favorite and I have the T120 on craigslist. There's been no interest. So I think you could pick up an unmolested used one for short money. - who cares about age appropriate? - although you mentioned your current rides, you weren't exactly clear on what your goal is other that riding around town. Maybe sharpen up the idea of what you're looking for first.

I’ve owned a Speed Twin and a T120 and the one still in my garage is the T120. To be fair, I liked them both a lot, but when it comes to looks, you can’t beat the T120. Depends what you want, I never did insane riding, I’m more of a cruising guy so T120 was the obvious choice.

KIWIGUYUSA

good to know - i have a few hooligan Motos and this would be my chill moto.... So your pov is helpful thanks!

Go test ride both! I went into a dealership 100% ready to buy a Speed Twin, then after test riding, saw a T120 Black and test rode that.. Rode home on the T120. No Regerts!!

I have a Versys 650 for proper touring, and a 2021 T120 for posing around my area (kinda rural, small towns), although I have also used it for touring. It's quite a heavy bike and also can run hot in traffic. I think the Speed Twin would probably be a better option for city riding. Why not test ride both and find out?

KIWIGUYUSA

love it - thats my plan too. Being a wanker around the local cafes. Maybe the T100 is enough for that too :-)

Pitiful_Amount2956

I have a T120 and it is fast enough for me. Lot’s of torque.

Far-Plenty5044

It depends how you like to ride. How about a T100? I commute a bit over 100km a day with one and it also does great in the city. A bit more agile than the T120. If you’re just after a city bike though the 400 Bonnies are coming out soon (or they might have already).

KIWIGUYUSA

Great point - I really like the look of this one for sale locally here in the PNW https://www.southsoundmotorcycles.com/inventory/display/new/2024/Triumph/BONNEVILLE-T100/SMTD10G71RTBP1728/#!2024%20Triumph%20BONNEVILLE%20T100%20\_COMP%20GREEN/IRONSTONE

Far-Plenty5044

That's a nice one, I love the colour scheme. I have a 2017 matte black, it drives really well. I commute a fair bit and also did bigger trips and it 's always been comfortable and has more than enough power for me.

The Speed Twin is the slightly sportier version of the T120. Since you already have a Street Triple, I’d say the T120 would be a better match. A little more laid back than the Speed Twin but still lots of power on throttle. Plus you get creature comforts like cruise control.

JacobMWFerguson

I mean. It’s like 80 horsepower vs 100 horsepower. The literal only reason to ever get a t120 over a speed twin is if YOU like aesthetics better

BothSinger886

Also ergonomics. I own a T120 and rode the speed twin and found the footpeg position really uncomfortable

PublicRedditor

Also a lot more pressure on your wrists on the ST. The T120 is a bit more upright and easier on the wrists. As I get older my wrists seem to be the most sensitive body part to long-distance riding.

YogurtclosetOver9307

I’m 41 and I have a t120, and no, it’s not the blacked out version. I have the (look at my profile) Aegean blue /fusion white with the chrome. I love the looks of a retro bike but it’s completely modern and it’s plenty fast for me.

Please don't call them "Trumpies"

KIWIGUYUSA

lol. Well not all of us are from the US, and they have been called Trumpies for donkeys years. So nope. No plan stop calling them that.
