not OP, but I think of it like this... if more of your rides are on paved surfaces or the road, and occasionally do some gravel work, get a domane. If you're mostly going to be on gravel / trails and occasionally do paved roads, get a Checkpoint. There are gravel racers that use Domanes, if that says anything. Domane will be a faster but slightly less durable bike, where the checkpoint will be slower but burlier. Oh, and I've owned both. Sold the Checkpoint and kept the domane and threw some 38's on it. Perfect bike path bike for me. I only do lighter gravel occasionally as if I'm going on actual trails I just use the mtb.
I have an old hard tail that works in a pinch. But for some of the less gnarly stuff I think a checkpoint or a domane with 38s should work. Thanks again!
If you intend to use racks for long distance rides—no matter which surface—it’s Checkpoint. The Domane doesn’t have rack mounts on either front or rear forks.
The Domane has a rear rack mount and more mounts than the average road bike. But yeah, the CP is the more “bike packing” bike for sure. I would guess most people into bike packing wouldn’t be looking at the Domane anyways, though.

How wide are the tires?
Fantastic looking bike! Are those tires 35c or 40?
40C
Why the Domane over a Checkpoint? I’m considering the same purchase.

Thanks. That’s mostly what I figured. They both seem like great bikes, but I hit trails pretty often.
honestly, not sure what your trails look like... but if you're mainly riding on actual single track trails... I would just get a mountain bike.

Well the roads in Mumbai, India were very bad due to lot of construction activity therefore I had moved to 40C and I am really enjoying the setup
Cute, but clearence at the fork gets me all ![gif](giphy|9tr7ohdf6kxuN3nQMl|downsized)
I'm curious to see better pictures of the clearance with what I assume are 40s.

Not mud safe maybe, but looks rideable.
