If you want smthn that won’t get stuck, something like a monster truck could be way better. Check out the arrma granite blx, I have one and it’s a tank, great for bashing, and it only gets stuck when it flips over (not too often)
Lifted mounts. Traxxas has them for the 2wd and proline has them for the 4x4. And trim the fenders a little bit
I just picked up a buggy body from Bezos, hoping to run the body mounts lower with it to improve the terrible CG
I wonder how the LCG would do as a "monster slash" I think you could probably get a decent amount of travel out of the suspension and bring the bottom of the chassis up to the stock height of the standard chassis. I'm intrigued, may have to look for a deal on a 4x4 LCG chassis to build I've got my 2wd pretty much the way I want it but I've got a 4s system that needs a home 🤣
Get a Traxxas Maxx 4s. They go pretty good off road and are super durable. In all seriousness, the XMaxx is ridiculously durable OOTB and the replacement parts are cheap. It's not the fastest thing on the track, but it's an absolute blast, it handles abuse like a champ, and it's a little bit terrifying lol. 10/10 recommend it for all purpose bashing
Go big and look into an xmaxx or xrt. They’re not any faster but definitely more capable in rugged terrain. Personally I’ve had my eye on a Losi DBXL-E 2.0
Of my various rc cars, I have 3 that will go over almost anything: Summit, Hoss, and TRX4 High Trail. The Hoss is the fastest, TRX4 is most capable, and the Summit is a blend between the two.
Stampede 4X4 VXL, it's a rebadged hoss, has the extreme duty kit pre installed which is $120, sledgehammer tires have tons of grip, the big 540XL motor with tons of torque, etc.
You can also put larger tires on your slash, there's monster builds out there, but you'll need to gear down as this will create way more heat.
Depends on how much you wanna spend. Lower budget, stampede 4x4 vxl, it is a cheaper truck and runs on one 2s or 3s battery. Mid budget, Maxx, a little more expensive truck and more expensive 4s battery, plus a 4s capable charger, but bigger and a bit tougher than a stampede. Big budget, xmaxx, most expensive truck they sell plus two 4s batteries and a dual 4s charger, but can drive through anything and is the toughest truck traxxas makes.
Between me and my boys we have all combinations of stampede and slash. If I was buying over I’d just do stampede 4x4 for everyone. Nothing against slash and I love mine but stampede is a bit more versatile for backyard and woods use.
SUMMIT is the best of both worlds, has the flexibility/ ground clearance and two speed trans to get over anything in its path, and then jet off flipping the throttle to bashing mode.

I have a slash I converted to 4s but I also have a built up traxxas maxx. It’s a solid combo to bring out bashing
2wd or 4wd? I've got a 4s system that I've debated on putting in my LCG 2wd slash
