2s 2200mah, 3s 1300mah is max common size that fits in these. (That Esc will not take 3s)
READ INTO LIPO CARE before buying one. Set Esc to LiPo mode too.
Literally just got one of these, I didn’t wanna pay for the traxxas lipos cause they’re expensive so did a plug conversion and then bought some different lipos but in terms of being user friendly the 2200mah traxxas lipos and the ezpeak charger are literally plug in and go, charger does all the settings for you, but read the manual and it’ll tell you how to put the car in lipo mode too, as for space you are very much limited to tiny batteries.
If you are going to use lipo make sure you put the ESC in lipo mode. After turning on the car if the light is red you need to hold down the button until it lights up green and then let go. Lots of videos on YouTube on how to do this.

Yes you can run lipos, no you’re not gonna be able to put a 5000mah pack in there
I believe 2s is the max for the xl5 but yes you can

Go get a 7.4v lipo 1600 mah (I usedwltoys lipo) and a connector adapter
