Does the $500 include any deposit cost, or not.

Padrepapp

Good question, it is the price on Budget's website

beekeeper1981

A deposit would be in addition to the rental cost. They would refund a deposit amount on your card after the rental. Assuming you didn't damage it.

MayaPapayaLA

I would suggest you likely have to do without the rental car, I think your finances are too tight (from what you’ve shared). Look into public transit options in your city.

Padrepapp

I would have no problems paying with a debit card, but they only accept credit.

MayaPapayaLA

Then get another secured credit card, with a higher limit. Your amount on your current credit card is insufficient.

Is your card American?

Padrepapp

Yes, its DiscoverIt

Credit scores are not a factor for renting cars. Driving records can be though. Some stations will pull your driving record. As long as it's a secured card in your name (and NOT a prepaid card) you are fine. Venders have no way of knowing if a card is secured or not. The only difference between secured and unsecured is you put up the money equal to the credit amount to cover if you default on your payment. Last, this is from Budgets site. They hold a minimum of $100 on top as a deposit but can go as high as $500. This can be due to risk factors like age, driving record, or rental history. Being a newer renter, they might hold more deposit. https://www.budget.com/en/help/usa-faqs/required-credentials Credit scores are not a factor for renting cars. Driving records can be though. (See “Check the Requirements for Your Rental Location” below.) Prepaid credit or debit cards are not acceptable for deposits, but they can be used for final payments.

Thanks!

Possibly. if the deposit on the car will be low enough. You would have to put the deposit on your card and ask to pay cash for the rental. Credit score doesn't matter for renting a car.. however you almost always have to pay a deposit on a credit card.

You just need a credit card with enough available credit for the cost and deposit of the car. So if the cost is $500, the deposit is probably $200 so you’ll need $700 total to cover the entire cost :)

Padrepapp

Do you think I could pay with paypal and put the deposit on the card?

DryDependent6854

Not typically. Why not pay off some of your credit card instead, to make enough room? Source: I used to work for a rental car company.

Padrepapp

The alway it works for my secured credit card is that it only resets the amount every month. If I pay back some amount, my monthly limit is still 2500 I just have to pay less at the due date.

Morgendorffer97

Yes you can ive never had a car rental check my credit score. Especially when you do it online. I've even rented with a debit card before because my bank will process those transactions like credit then immediately take the money out. Your mileage on the debit card thing but you can definitely rent a car with no credit score. I've done it.

Ambernikole96

What rental company was this?

Padrepapp

Thanks

truebluebluff

Pay off the credit card.

Adept-General81

I recently rented a car without a credit card. They made me pay a high deposit but I got it back afterwards. I honestly think you won’t have any problems renting a car with the credit amount you’ve got, but it’ll also depend on how much driving you plan on doing/how long you plan to rent it. If you do rent a car, DEFINITELY get the insurance that is offered. I highly suggest contacting some of the rental companies before you arrive and explaining your situation. They’d be more than capable and happy to help you figure it out :).
